Oh man! I’m so sorry for those with a bad m-i-l!! Sadly, folks continue what they know. I’ve had 34 years of the dearest, kindest mother in law anyone could hope for. 100% supportive, 0% intrusive. I consciously aspire to be that same mother in law to the “bonus kids” that married my son and daughter.

All I can think of is the TikTok “boy moms” and how this is just a glimpse of what their future daughter-in-laws will have to deal with.

I was 18 when I had my child. I was having issues with my son's father, her son. I remember when there was an audience, family around, etc. she made the comment "The child doesn't look anything like my son". To try an insinuate something about me. The kicker is, my son and my now husband looked identical. The other kicker was he was my first. She always treated me this way. Toxic. It's wild how my now husband sees how disfunctional his mom is, and the amount of pain he has put us through from not being raised right has brought on is wild.

I thank God me and MIL were best friends. My ex-husband wasn't all that great he would miss Christmas eve at grandma's and when she would come over stayed on his computer, even on my birthday he wouldn't do crap, unless of course the few times he would deign to do what HE WANTED TO DO included me.

To find your licensing boards, Google your states licensing boards for therapist, such as "GA therapist licensing board." There will be a link to lodge a complaint. Hope this helps.

I thank God everyday for blessing me with the most amazing MIL ever, but I can say that my husband has the crazy In-Law in our relationship oof
