That movie, just solidified what EVERYBODY thinks of "elected" law in rural USA... DELIVERANCE type of shiat.

Long story short, the small town PD was corrupt, at some point they got sued really hard due to illegal civil forfeiture, resulting in the town almost getting bankrupt. The PD reformed only in the paper, but they were still conducting illegal civil forfeitures in secrecy (only the police chief, and his couple of inner circle redneck local PD were involved), the vast majority of the local PD were not aware of this, hence why the police chief was hush hush in letting him go with his money in the beginning of the movie because he didn't want this incident to blow up. The judge allowed this happen blindly because it literally kept the payroll going, since the entire town was getting paid for public services like road work, utilities, etc from the weapons the PD were illegally selling and the money they were seizing. And the state police are definitely is not in on this (State police are government employees, while local/city police are city/county employees), hence why the girl police contacted the state police as soon as they started car chase, because they have the authority and jurisdiction to arrest local police officers.

This movie is bat ish crazy .but it kept me on edge.dope reaction
