Steve - New Kick panels installation
This week I go through and get fresh metal installed where the kick panels were rusted out in Steve, my 1980 Chevy C10 Squarebody. I also use some POR-15 as rust encapsulation / preventative in some areas that are prone to rust.

Hopefully doing it in sections, bracing shouldn’t be too much of an issue. I will have to support the front of the cab while I cut out the floor but once the floor is in, there should be enough rigidity to keep it straight for the firewall. At least that’s what I’m thinking right now. 🤷🏻‍♂️

That's the simplest answer. The reality of it is I can get Little John back on the road probably inside of a long weekend using Steve's motor. Steve is a different story, since I'd need to get a driveshaft and a few other things. Then I can take my time and build the 350 into a mean little small block for the Pontiac.

    • @goodenuffcustoms

I thought about just polishing the crank up (it should polish out fine) and throwing fresh bearings in it, but the block still is going to need a hot tank and cleaning. But a big block in Steve if awfully tempting...

I had problems as well with the AMD rear section of the front floor. I had to cut the notch at that point where the patch panel met the vertical cab structure. No other way I tried to fit it together would allow the weatherstrip channel to come close to the rocker panel. Just part of the process I guess!

Next lap job, try 6 to 7 inches of 1/4 inch fuel line/vac hose. Slide over the valve stem (valve in the guide) might need a small clamp. A couple inches of 1/4-20 all thread in the other end and chuck it up in your drill. Wet your finger with oil to put pressure on the bottom of the valve. Pretty slick, high speed lapping. Bounce the valve off the seat every few seconds.
