signs the lipstick theory is in full effect. In this video I pointed out *my* examples of the lipstick effect, a theory that suggests during economic downturns lipstick sales increase along with other small (and more affordable) luxury goods. let me know of your examples? :) thank you for watching and i will see you guys soooooon.

the peculiar intersection of fashion and food.

the intersection of fashion and food. The intersection of fashion and food will always be so fascinating to me and (mainly) because I love both equally, but also from a marketing standpoint. In this video I cover; the boom of fashion/cosmetic brand food and coffee trucks, the mechanics of sensory marketing, and the different tiers of experience brands offer, one that includes food.
the clean girl to mob wife trend was weird..no?

the clean girls are now in their ‘mob wife’ era and here’s the problem… ok all in all i think depending on where your fashion sense lies on the spectrum of min to max a fur coat could be so outrageous to you that you immediately identify it as a cosplaying accessory and it makes sense but nonetheless i still wanted to dissect the latest era the girls are stepping into lololol this was so fun to...
i haven’t bought a lipstick in two years and i just ordered a whole pack of different ones 😂
Awesome video, very thoughtful. It's cool how through your analysis we can draw a very strong link between kendrick's fashion and messaging in his music, not only through the clothes themselves but the people behind them.
I recently got into Portland leather bc I wanted good quality leather which has been harder and harder to find.
rot out 😂 i’m sorry that’s funny
who is this pretty girlyy
I've always been a lipstick girlie since I was in HS during the early 2010s. My shopping shift has been towards clothes 🤔 It's fair to say I'm into the old money/equestrian fashion or aesthetic but instead of going full Shein, Temu, Fashionova or Romwe Ive made a considerable effort to hunt for Cotton, wool, linen, silk and other natural fiber clothing. (luckily, I worked at a second hand store and racked up from time to time. Even got a cashmere sweater) I want clothes that will last awhile.
I’ve shifted toward the same. Idk I would call my style old money but I definitely now look for more class timeless pieces for main items in my wardrobe and I look for quality. I think that tends to look a bit old money/ clean girl with of feminine touch as I am a bit girly in that I do like florals, lace, etc. but not over the top. My main focus has been clothing quality in how it’s made and the fabrics used. If I’m spending my money I want it ti last and focusing on classic timeless pieces means that when the trends shift I make not look trendy but I’ll look good and put together which is what I’m looking for because these trends seem to cycle so fast and it’s hard to keep up, expensive and bad for the environment. So I just stop or will engage with an accessory but it also has to be worth it for me
I love !!
its bc fall started and finding ur "signature lip combo" became everything
In French we say "féminité" with just one "ni", I had to get accustomed to the double "ni" in English so I feel you ^^
I genuinely believe people should stop caring so much about how theyre body physicallylooks and instead care about if they are actually healthy and fit becasue thin/thick does not equal healthy and we need to stop acting like it does
Such a good video! Yea I totally think the same thing about long nails being laughed at all of a sudden. Making fun of the struggles people actually go thru like real starvation that would give a skinny body and long nails that nooo they did not want a skinny starving body and no they were not privelaged enough to even have the choice to eat. Ozempic is insulting like some people would give anything to be able to eat when they want. Why would they want to act like their not privelaged. And as for the long nails like it’s a mood idk like i just don’t feel like a baddie with short nails.
Except lipstick used to be affordable! I hardly think 50-100 for is affordable for 99.5
6:10 This is precisely why I gravitate towards alternative, artsy, edgy fashion. You can make stylish, interesting fashion choices that aren't centered upon socioeconomic status, which is a futile and boring game. Alternative fashion allows you to play around, express YOURSELF, and ranges from affordable items up to high end luxury items. But because it's unique and not an oversaturated, recognizable brand, people are going to see the FASHION rather than the dumbazz status symbol of perceived wealth.
Bump!
kendrick rlly giving us the b
I looooove your videos!
great vid
Im just happy martine & grace is getting more attention 😁 need to shift who runs fashion
I've always enjoyed dressing preppy and feminine especially when I was in high school. I did enjoy some of the urban clothing, I however enjoyed a business look. Mainly because of my upbringing, I wanted to look like my late mom. She was always so put together, so effortlessly. That was my idea of the feminine, classy look. However, I did enjoy the old money look I associated it with preppy, but more so for the wealthy because of the elite brands. I still see it that way. Do you see it as a difference?
idk if this is intentional but theres like 2 minutes of nothing at the end of your video.
It is, working on it
Can you make a video on Gigi Hadids style evolution?
Very nice video. I’m not used to seeing people analyze fashion at this level. It’s pretty cool how we use clothing to achieve different things. Not just for the sake of not being naked. Thank you for reminding me of this!
this deserves to go viral fr.. kendrick giving the spotlight to black women post-war has been amazing and hasnt been talked about at all. even the editor in chief of harpers bazaar is a black woman and she got the first look from him.. and sza will co-headline his tour..
kenny is such a unit like uniting with bonner and rose is sooooo on brand
“THE SUN’S TIRADE”
As someone that now studies in Advertising and Branding but is a editorial writer and took a fashion writing class. I respect a take on society effect on fashion. Love this post and your content . ❤❤💝

thank you!!!!
man now i gotta subscribe. your articulation, attention to detail, and genuine passion for the artform, has me hooked. also watched the kendrick vid. you’re great.
This means a lot! Thank you!!!
Cool vid - in the next one if you do something similar you should show more examples and break them down. That extra level of specificity will do dividends!
Yes! I definitely will, thank you ☺️
i was pleasantly surprised by how this video evolved. i was expecting a complete focus on lipstick, so i love how you connected this to a lot of other trends we are seeing rn due to overconsumption. i especially loved the portion on blowouts! as a black woman, i think you hit the nail right on the head. great watch <3
I’ve been buying A LOT more makeup than usual-and I was aware that I was doing it because of the lower cost compared to clothes shoes and accessories. Very interesting
I let my blonde rot out 🤣
😂😂😂😂
Old money is the unspoken richness of a two parent household that has a father that stipulates you cover up but you make it fun and call it modesty and demure.
Because my hands and feet are soooo soft and svelte people think I haven’t done any work or that I’m not sporty.
Damn you bad
His new style is a ripoff of Drakeo.
I love this channel
People have aspired to be thin for decades…pre BBL and Instagram hottie era No one was trying to have these build a bear bodies etc. even in the 90s WOC were still small. Baby got back video, boomerang movie, white men can’t jump etc. is what the goal body looked like.
After the drake beef I was seeing fit pics of Kendrick and I was like damn, he up there with rocky when it come to style
Thank you for calling out van cleef, we have similar tastes away from it 💅🏾
immediate subscribe, yup. I love an in depth breakdown
Honestly, based on history, it’s been shown through fashion the state of the world. I think there’s a documentary on it. But essentially, when it was the 30s, and people were struggling they were wearing “bland” clothes. Further down the line, women started wearing brighter clothes, shorter clothes, etc because they felt more free. Personally, I think that because being “minimal” or “modest” is being pushed, it’s showing where we’re headed as a society in terms of self expression, what is “allowed” from people, and who has the “privilege” . This being said. All that’s based on perception because being able to express yourself through the creativity of make, hair, nails, and clothes in a form of privilege
He’s literally just getting hyphy, he’s using Mac Dre, e40 and 2Short’s style and optimizing it. This music is built to be blasted through car speakers at a stop light. It’s a Bay Area culture thing and a mix of all of California’s style with culture be it Spanish, black, or any color .
This is my first video that I’ve seen of yours and I actually really like your content so I hope to see more stuff like this
Is that i wonder from kanye playing in the background? 6:35

I can sense this channel is about to blow up!
