A channel about hiking in Alaska.
The Narrows - Zion National Park
Today we hike The Narrows in Zion National Park. This hike is in a canyon walking through a stream most of the time.
Since I did this in December I rented the dry suit bib package from Zion outfitters. This comes with canyon shoes, neoprene socks, a walking stick, and the dry suit bib that is similar to a pair waterproof overalls. They are located just outside the park entrance.
I would rate the difficulty as around 3/10. It can be somewhat tough crossing from one side of the water to the other. There were a couple areas where the water was almost all the way to the top of my bib.
I enjoyed the hike quite a bit and would recommend it. The only thing I would do differently is bring a waterpro...

Angels Landing - Zion National Park
Просмотров 328День назад
Today we hike Angels Landing. This hike in Zion National Park requires a permit. You can acquire it either from the day before lottery as we did or from a seasonal lottery. The hike itself is somewhat difficult based on the uneven nature of the terrain. The sandstone can get a bit slippery in some places also. I would rate it a 5.5/10 for difficulty. I enjoyed the hike very much and would recom...
Short hike with snow

Just a short video from a trail we have featured a few times already.
Near Point with moose encounter
Просмотров 91Месяц назад
Today we hike Near Point from the Prospect Heights trailhead. Overall the hike is fairly easy with not elevation gain early but a fair bit after a couple miles. I would rate this around a 5/10 for difficulty. We also encountered a moose which was pretty cool. 00:00 Intro 4:56 Moose Time
Mount Eklutna/Bear Point Loop
Просмотров 42Месяц назад
Today we do a loop hike and hit both Bear Point and Mount Eklutna. This is a nice middle difficulty hike. I’d say around 6/10 or so. The beginning up to Bear Point is fairly steep and somewhat challenging. I prefer to skip Bear Point and just go right to Mount Eklutna. The climb up Mount Eklutna isn’t too difficult but it also is somewhat steep. After that’s it’s a nice easy walk down to the ma...
Marston Muktuk Trail Loop (Arctic Valley)
Просмотров 49Месяц назад
Today we are hiking in Arctic Valley on the a loop hike up Rendezvous ridge and returning on the Marston Muktuk Trail. This day was a great mix of fall and winter. The trail we took starts just off the parking lot when you pass the main building. And heads onto Rendezvous Ridge. Follow this to before Rendezvous peak and take a right and follow that ridge until it intersects with the Marston Muk...
Hatcher’s Pass (Reed Lakes and Independence Mine)
Просмотров 376Месяц назад
Today we hike part of Reed Lakes and visit Independence Mine. I ended up stopping before halfway on Reed Lakes because the boulders were pretty slippery with the fresh snow. We will finish it off next year though. We also visited Independence Mine which is an easy little walk around an old mining area.
Swarovski Kristallwelten

This is Swarovski Crystal World it is a kind of immersive art exhibit. We enjoyed this quite a bit but I don’t think I’m cultured enough to fully understand the meaning behind all the exhibits haha
Hanging Valley Lake - Beautiful Fall Colors

Today we hike to Hanging Valley Lake. This is a fairly easy hike but on the longer side. The trail is straightforward you just have to make a left a half mile of so after the bridge and follow the trail in the valley. Once in the valley just follow the trail and head up into the little bowl where the lake is. I’d rate the difficulty about a 4.5 or so just because of length.
Chutes & Ladders Hike Girdwood Alaska
Просмотров 1772 месяца назад
Today we hike Chutes & Ladders in Girdwood. On our way to the slot canyon we missed the turn off and wandered around in the woods for about 30 minutes or so. The video should give straightforward and easy to follow directions from the Winner Creek Gorge parking lot to the slot canyon. The hike was very fun but a bit more on the physical side because you need to ascend and descend ropes. Difficu...
Höllentalklamm Gorge to Hollentallagerhutte hike
Просмотров 952 месяца назад
Today we hike Höllentalklamm Gorge to Hollentallagerhutte. This was a very fun hike. For difficulty I may rate it a 5 out of 10 or so. First off make sure to bring the 7 euro entrance fee with you. There was a place to get food and use the restroom after the first initial climb of about an hour or so to the entrance of the gorge. Then you travel through the gorge, this was the best part of the ...
Pioneer Peak
Просмотров 1203 месяца назад
Today we hike up Pioneer Peak this is a pretty difficult hike but has amazing views. I would rate it a 9/10 for difficulty. On the final steep part make sure to stay to the right side as the left side can be dangerous. On our hike we got to within about 100 vertical feet of the peak and had to turn back because of the snow and visibility. The lower parts are very muddy in wet weather and we wer...

Natural Hot Spring River Hike - Reykjadalur HotSpring Thermal River
Beautifully made video. You two are way braver than I am when it comes to those heights.
Thank you. Haha I may be a little to comfortable with heights.
Gorgeous place l thank you so much for sharing something l could never do in person. Zion is such a beautiful area❤
Thanks for watching and I’m glad you liked the video. I agree I really had a great time in Zion.
It looked amazing but I was totally holding my breath when you were at the top. 😂 Even though I know you made it out okay, don’t think I will be doing that one.
Haha yeah I don’t think you would have like the part with the chain. It felt pretty safe while we were doing it though.
Gorgeous views
great views, looks like fun.
It was a pretty nice day a little windy but not bad. The views are always killer though.
@@Hikeasaurus23 I vacation there from chicago and hike as much as i can. I did Lions Head last time.
Nice I haven’t actually made it out to that one yet, but I’ll try to this summer.
That music makes it seem so relaxing.
It was a pretty relaxing hike.
Just a funny tidbit. I had close captions on and it said (applause) while you were walking on gravel by the train 😅
Haha
Its been 30+ years since i was there it has changed soooooo much
I feel the same way every time I go to see a glacier now.
Did you happens to see any game birds while hiking there?
I did actually see a ptarmigan over by independence mine, but I didn’t get a picture.
It would have been cool to see that last part, the Crystal Cloud and Mirror Pool at night.
Yeah I agree. We were there close to closing time, so I guess the fall/winter would be a better time for that section.
Yes I would not like the heights. The toboggan ride looked fun.
Yeah it was really fun.
Awesome video 🔥
Thanks man, it was nice to actually have some days of fall without rain this year haha
Hey brother is there any way I can contact you? I have a few questions to ask. You have Facebook?
Yeah man I have instagram if that works. @hikeasaurus23
Yo that’s so awesome you actually went haha this is on my bucket list! I appreciate you for making this video
Hey brother may I request you show and hike chutes and latter?
I’ll throw it on my list. If we get some nice weather I’ll try to get it done next month.
@@Hikeasaurus23 that’ll be so cool to see. It’s definitely on my bucket list so hopefully you can go show us 🥰
Nice one! Did you just recently go to Germany??
Yep we just went at the beginning of September. We found some pretty inexpensive tickets. We also did a couple days in Austria.
Looked very enjoyable and refreshing.
It felt nice and cool going through the gorge since it was a pretty warm day.
Appreciate the video! Just did this hike on Saturday and it was nice to already be familiar with some parts of the trail from your video.
I’m glad you liked the video. How was the hike?
That elevation gain tho 😮
Yeah it’s one of the most difficult of the well known hikes in my area.
Love your face at the end.
It’s pretty accurate to how I was feeling haha
That as quite the adventure, especially on the way down on the slick trail in the dark. I gained a few more scars, but I would do it all over again with my amazing son.
I might choose some better weather next time though.
That was funny when you said if they were scared of heights go take the other path. I can’t imagine anyone scared of heights being anywhere near that area 😂
Haha yeah this one wasn’t for anyone scared of heights, there were too many sheer drops.
Rad! Nice job man
Thanks, I’m glad the hike was a bit easier than I thought it would be.
Nice views
Agreed. It looked great but got very hot.
Wow, that one looked tough! Epic views though, nice job!!
Thanks, that one is not easy haha I think the view from the top are some of my favorite.
Nice one!! This looks like a good one for my next trip up!
Yeah we can do this one. But fair warning there is some loose gravel that’s a bit tricky on the way down.
Nice!
Have you been getting any cool hikes in this year?
@@Hikeasaurus23 not yet! Been busy fishing but I will soon. I will probably go rabbit lake again ☺️
Love the channel! Helps me allot on where to go 🔥
Thanks if you ever need more info on any of the hikes just let me know.
That gave me PTSD! Haha
Haha Next time you’re up I’ll actually remember my GoPro and we can document it.
That was amazing.
I really like that it takes me less than 5 minutes to this far. 😅 I am in a mood.
The music at the beginning is so relaxing. I am sure it wasn’t relaxing going uphill.😂
Haha I have learned to enjoy the pain.
Looking over close to the waterfall looks scarier than the first part.
On parts of the trails they had sections roped off, I assume for safety. But some areas they didn’t have roped off seemed much more dangerous.
Iceland?! Jealous. Nice video!
Yeah it was a really great trip I have one more hike we did. And then just some random footage. Thanks
Was this in July? if so im surprised at all the snow still up there
It was either mid July or very late June. I can’t recall.
Nice video 🔥
Love the music, it's so happy!
Shawn! It’s good to hear from you. Thanks for checking out the video
nice video
Thanks I’m glad you liked it.
love your videos! im entering my second summer here in anchorage, and am hoping to overcome my fear of hiking alone. i carry bear spray, but was still so terrified last year that i couldn’t do it. any pointers? i’m thinking maybe taking out my gopro could allow me to keep talking at least…any pointers? thank you for sharing your hikes! i’m hoping to do this one as an overnight this year.
Thanks for the support. I kinda jacked up my leg so it will be awhile until I post more videos. I think the best way to get used to hiking alone is to start on more popular trails. Baldy, Rabbit Lake, South Fork, and Flattop are all well traveled. With more people around you are less likely to run into wildlife. But if you are by yourself on a less popular trail just try to be noisy so you don’t surprise any animals. Also I would recommend looking into the statistics. There is a very low chance of actually being attacked by an animal. O one other tip is look up what to do if you do happen to run into an animal. I hope that helps.
I like how the trail literally just goes right through the entrance to the outhouse.
Haha I should have added in an outhouse review.
One of the things I miss the most about Alaska is the amazing mountains.
This is truly spectacular! Really amazing, and all in one year! The music also fits perfectly, I have this playing on repeat it's so cool
Thanks I’m glad you like it
I like the highlight idea too
I think a highlight reel for the year is a cool idea! maybe complete with ranking by difficulty, some distance/elevation stats, challenges encountered, and a map including parking to help plan hikes. I really like your timelapses at the top when you have them, and of course your dinosaur-summit photos. thanks for your videos!
Those are some good ideas. Maybe I’ll do a Timelapse one and then maybe a ranking with a couple clips and include some kind of map.
What a great way to save a vacation trip.
that was awesome !
Thanks glad you liked it
ahhhhhh...... Wiener Hofwalzer.....
Getting cold! Thanks for another one!
Wow! That’s definitely windy!!!
Beautiful, good stuff
Thank you kindly
