Marv and Randy on Patrol

Marv and Randy are two Tom Narragansett Heritage Breed Turkeys that live on our little hobby farm in Southeastern Wisconsin. We believe in sharing the quirky beauty of these birds as well as their antics. They constantly "patrol" the farm in search of anything or anyone that is interesting. They are brothers. We embrace simple joy and hope you love the fun these boys bring each and every day. Listen for some educational pearls about turkeys and watch how captivating they can be!
We have spent lots of time with them and not all turkeys behave like Marv and Randy. While we are able to pet them and give them an occasional hug, they are still kept within the walls of a coop. They live with chickens, guinea hens and a barnyard of animals that keep us laughing. If you comment, please let us know where you are from. We don't travel and love to see/hear what is going on in other parts of the world.

Do you ever contend with mites on their legs. I had a Tom who I got from a neglecting owner. He had big barnacle type growths on his legs. I was able to remove them by slathering his legs with bag balm. They eventually softened and I was able to remove them.
Very seldom do we get mites. I add some preventive things to their coop, either hanging or crushed- diatomaceous earth, wood ash, and fresh or dried basil, peppermint, lemon balm, lavender, and sage (grown here on the farm). Sounds like what you did was perfect for your Tom!

I will take notes on this I have a 2 1/2 month old turkey I will feed him some spaghetti noodles. He loves peas and carrots and rice I give him that he loves them to death. But thank you for the idea I'll make him some spaghetti noodles

I enjoy your channel , I’m a fairly new Turkey owner. Maybe 3 years , but I find them fascinating. Currently I have a Momma and her gaggle of teenagers. As we as a Slate grey male.

@@TurkeysMarvandRandy I have ten left of the 14 momma showed up with , only because I took 9 of them from her to raise in safety. She tried her best with the 5 I left her but only one made it. But they are all reunited now lol. No sadly Carl the father passed away just before his babies showed up. I got the two hens for him. I think they had bred with a variety of other Tom’s before I got them though. That would explain the Slate , and the Black Spanish or whatever they are. Carl was White lol.

What is that clicking sound they always make when walking around? My baby turkey is a month old he just makes chirping sounds and little purring sounds like a chicken does
They have a few different sounds that they make, is it the wing drop you're hearing or maybe the air expelling for the chest cavity?
@@TurkeysMarvandRandy It could be, but I noticed they do that clicking sound when they are puffed out and strutting

I absolutely love these guys! I have a 3 week old Heritage Red Bourbon turkey.
I loved when the delivery truck pulled up in the driveway and they weren't having it both of them did not like that truck there they wanted it gone, I love those guys they are awesome turkeys

Not only beating to quarters but also like a Klaxon horn sounding General Quarters. As a veteran I find ole Marv and Randy relaxing along with hearing you talk. My wife Cindy loves your soaps and lotion and it was those two turkeys that popped up on my Facebook feed that did it.
