I would love a video with your graduate as far as how he feels with his educational experience. I have a high schooler next year and I can feel the fear creeping in. We have been a foundations plus good books family. I would love to keep it that way for high school plus lots of choice and real life experiences. Would love to hear what he loved and what he would maybe change etc.

That makes complete sense and my wife and I say the same thing about family/friends a lot. It’s really sad and hard but also very frustrating. And all it would take is for people to open up their Bibles. I really worry about where some will go when they pass but I know the Lord says not to worry. Math u see has been great for my daughter. Planning on starting apologia math with my two who have autism and supplementing with the short version of the person who did math with confidence “addition facts that stick”

Have you heard of Beauty & Truth Math? That's what we are doing and loving it. It does use one of those old arithmetic books that you mentioned loving (stayer-upton).

You're using the curriculum again, but only after affirming your prejudice again instead of apologizing for being rash. Promoting ignorance about other's beliefs while benefiting from them is the definition of hypocrisy.

I love that the kids brought up the parable. 💕 My daughter rarely talks due to disability but I'm realizing I should put the verses we are studying where she can show us if she thinks of it. Beautiful hike of God's majesty and time with the family that the kids will probably remember for a long time.

I love Frog and Toad! I've tied Biblical lessons into the stories actually. If kids can learn how to do "mental math" that's so important. I agree getting that solid foundation is vital. Learning how to convert fractions, percentages, and decimals can be practiced organically. Using a whiteboard or whatever (I got a glass panel and mirror wall studs to hang it up and it works great without toxic vinyl and was a good deal). Baking and cooking, measuring volume is great exposure, having kids adjust the recipe to being for half as many people or twice as many etc. Calculating discounted items and taxes is great too! I like to combine graphing and art for my fifth grader. I am teaching her to graph the coordinates and then using a ruler connecting them to make an outline of triangles with every three coordinates. She can then make a mountain range or trees or whatever out of it, I think it could be fun if you have several kids going in whatever order, maybe getting different coordinates and each would come out to be very unique! We combine math with other subjects a lot too, I love grouping subjects. It's a great way to combine history or science and even ELA. We are reading a book for WestWard Expansion (that's what was recommended in my state and I thought I had to follow that, but I love teaching it)..the characters lend some more connection for my daughter but we calculated how many miles it might have taken for her journey to practice place value and compared the journey to trips we have taken to get a better idea of what that would be like (plus the whole on-foot/wagon, terrain etc vs car of course! ) Math videos can be helpful, my daughter loves the math songs from The Good and the beautiful but also some on RUclips. I love math workbooks but we rarely do end up using them. I was surprised to find the story books I bought for WWE have Christian messages sprinkled throughout and they are very interesting books. Bound for Oregon by Jean Van Leewen, Pioneer Cat by William Hooks, the Lost and Found Journal of a Miner 49er Vol. 1 by jack Dublin. For "Frog and Toad All Year" I added verses to discuss, though it's been a while so IDK if some don't fit as well as I intended. I was just starting to engage my daughter in more Bible reading and discussion at the time. But I think it could be fun to even ask the kids to find a verse they think fits a story, though Heidi seems to do this for day to day situations which is even better! These are the verses I wrote into Frog and Toad if anyone is curious. 😅 Down the Hill; Ecclesiastes 4:10 & Deuteronomy 31:6 The Corner; Hebrews 11:1 & Song of Songs 2:11-12 (I know what that's about but in the sense of waiting patiently for return in faith LOL) Icecream; 2 Timothy 1:7 The Surprise; Romans 12:10-13, Matthew 6:2 Christmas Eve; Proverbs 3:5-6, Colossians 3:15, Philippians 4:6-7, Ecclesiastes 4:9

We've been homeschooling since 2006 and the best thing I ever implemented is reading aloud. Even if we don't get anything else done we will always, always, always do our read aloud! I have seen the most fruits from that decision than any other I've ever made!
