This is a recently discovered and restored commercial for the titular naval equipment manufacturer, based on the sea shanty tradition but with a catchy modern twist aimed at maximizing the impact on those few potential customers, who, as fortunate early possessors of a radio device, could listen to such a jingle aired during the commercial breaks.
According to the Collins Dictionary, a scuttlebutt was originally a cask of drinking water aboard a ship (from scuttle + butt).
However, some scholars believe that the lyrics contain a double entendre, aimed at exploiting the naive sense of humor of the listeners of that time.
