the Game of Argentine Tango
США
Добавлен 28 ноя 2022
Tango Tribe feels the Argentine Tango dance as an experience of exploration and play. The song and even our partner may be dear friends we've walked with many times before or completely new to us. Every time is a chance for us to explore and play with our partner, seeking to discover movements that delight us both. An infinite game.
We approach learning, training, and coaching with the same attitude. We seek to discover through guided movement explorations, out of all the ranges of possibilities, what are the most useful ways. Ways to be, to move, and to relate to a partner and the music. Ways to become a Clear, Comfortable, Creative dancer.

I enjoy Hugo Diaz, but I don't find his interpretations danceable at all.
That’s really helpful! I organise practicas and I’m often looking for suitable songs for beginners! Thanks
Glad it was helpful! 🤗 Would you like to collaborate on a Part 2 with your favorite songs for practicas?? 🤩
I have only a few patterns in my repertoire, so have a hard time filling up one song, let alone a whole tanda with the same partner! 🙂
Wow! Very well explained. Ocho starting on 1,4 are certainly interesting! Ochitos look fun too! For ocho on 1, when does the leader change the weight from right foot to left foot before stepping diagonally backwards? TIA
Think of our four feet, my two and my partner's two, standing on the corners of a square. If we both shift our weight to the hand side (HS) or the arm side (AS), then we are both standing on the side of the box. For a super compact ocho-we can even do a 360-degree turn right on the same spot!-we shift our weight to diagonally-opposite corners, putting us in cross-system (CS). So, for example, I shift my weight to HS while turning my torso towards AS, sending my partner to the opposite corner. Now I can step back and around myself with the AS (right) leg, clearing space for my partner to step forward and around me with their HS (right; we are in CS) leg. I hope that describes what you are interested in. A suggestion for content-based questions is to give us the timestamp where the action in question occurs in the video. Thank you for the question!
thank you for adding Canaro as the fifth great orchestra. So often he is completely excluded.. ❤
Hi, Serena! I *love* Canaro. At last nights práctica in Austin, Fil played Francisco, Rafael, and Luis Canaro songs. It was spectacular.
@@davidphillips79 I love Canaro too. so playful. I love Rafaamel's music, and I mix it with Mario Melfi and Quintin Verdu, also. melfi sold the rights to Canaro for Poema. He made five cents for every record that Canaro sold. There is an interesting history with that you know.
so much fun. interesting instruments. I am shocked when I occasionally see somebody on Facebook who says I hate Canaro. I always figure they are either ignorant of canaro or they don't know how to dance that style of music.
anyway, thank you for canero. @@davidphillips79. what would the gender of millions be without his milongas??? ❤
Camaro sits well on my native personality.
Nice!
Hi, Serena! Thank you.
Thanks! 🤩
Bravissimi❤
Grazie mille!!
need to demo with your back facing the camera
Yes, that can be helpful. We can also view the video as if it is a mirror, showing us a mirror-image of what we want to do.
Excellent explanation! I need to add those beautiful Boleos!
So glad you enjoyed it! 🤩

Wow...This is a new knowledge to me! I had no idea you could do this with the basic step. Thanks Argen & Tina! Just discovered your channel btw.
We're so glad you're finding value in this! Welcome & abrazos!
Thank you very much. No elaborate choreography to remember.
Exactly! Choreography can be useful as a mental exercise and to give us experience combining moves in a way that flows. For social dancing at a crowded milonga, we need to be able to break things apart to fit the music and the space.
@@tangotribe1283 Thank you once again. Your philosophy or concept of fixed routines completely agrees with my assessment of dancing ( other dance genres) as a whole. I find choreographies grow old very quickly with constant use. I do still rely on choreographers to help me plan and enrich "what to do next" . Your demo at the end of your video is one excellent example.
We are so thrilled you are finding value in a different approach! 🤗
I wonder if you take vans and Milonga classes too !
We haven't yet covered dancing to milonga and vals music. Good suggestion. We'll add those to our future video plans.
very nice indeed.. I know all these steps but its very nice to know how you can simply take these steps from basic 8.. im getting used to thinking about these links which I have done from Americana... and it works very well.. but never thought of doing it from basic 8 .. for the lead I think its very useful so that they don't have to think far to keep the flow of dance... jus t take the basic and branch from there ... very useful breakdown of ideas...thanks so much from uk
You got the concept! Wonderful! By being able to recognize the possible continuations *from any step* we can better deal with: forgotten figures, running out of space, music we're unfamiliar with, and making our steps fit with our partner and with the music.
We're thrilled you are finding value in our approach! 🤗
We have fun making these videos, and then, sweet comments like yours make a lovely bonus. Thank you for letting us know.
helo from uk... thanks so much for the lovely tutorial ! very nice indeed .. just simple but effective lovely ways to do the echo from very routine steps ..very useful .. im gonna look at it a few times ...although it looks simple there is technique involved ... thanks so much..also may I say I love your colour scheme ..both of you are so gentle and effective.. thanks so much..!
You are so welcome! We're glad to have you join us!
As always, excellent video! Just one thing to point out, patata means potato. The right word would be patada which means kick
Oh my!! Ooops 😁 Thanks for that heads up on our spelling!
Far too much talking about adding dynamics to the 8 count basic. Not enough demonstration of the added dynamics, with music.
Thank you for your feedback. We'll take that into account in future productions.
Yes, we would've liked to have done a demo to music, just ran out of time! 🫤

Please try to improve your closed (locked) embrace and your connection.
What advice would you have for us? (I've not heard of a "locked" embrace? What does that come from or refer to?)
@@davidphillips79 Hi. Close embrace is a sort of nearby embrace. CloseD is really the embrace of milonguero style, locked like for milonguero style where you do not release the embrace at almost any moment. ruclips.net/video/ZBaeDIOV7t0/видео.html
@@davidphillips79 , Hi. CloseD = Locked. ruclips.net/video/ZBaeDIOV7t0/видео.html&pp=ygUMY29jYSBjYXJ0ZXJ5 - Never release the embrace. Close = nearby .
Very usefull Thx
So glad you found it useful! 🤗
Gosh you 2 are great! Love your style ! I can see you have fun with tango! What city do you teach at?

Correction: the Spanish word for the nod of the head to invite or accept an invitation is correctly spelled: cabeceo.

You're very welcome. Thank you for the nice feedback.

Thank you. Yes, an essential aspect of good navigation.

You're right, this did go long, and as others have said, no dancing to music. We have ideas to improve.
@@DavidPhillipsAustin It did not go on too long! It was just right!
@@shortsbox Good to hear! We appreciate the feedback.
Thank you for your helpful feedback. 🤣
I never knew that dancing had a tone, cool!
We're so glad you found this helpful!
Very nice teacherss!!!
Thank you! You made our day! ❤

Love dance hermoso ❤
Wow! Argen & Tina cover so many important points. Here's a summary: 1. Simplify - Isolate the problem step of a figure. 2. Change speed - Super-slow tests our stability. Super-fast tests our control. 3. Avoid 'end gaining' - When we go for an effect (e.g., the leg interaction in a sacada), it may be merely a byproduct of the attention we must give to previous steps. 4. Focus on the Follower - The Follower moves are the effect we want to achieve - When we better understand what and when our partner wants to feel something in the lead, then we are better able to give clear, comfortable signals. 5. Change frame - Allow our frame to slide or expand as necessary to accommodate our movement around each other. 6. Check geometry - Look for each partner's newly landed step to form a stable triangle between the feet of their partner. 7. Video review - Use regular video reviews of your own dancing to inform you about what to work on. 8. Previous step - Be aware that problems we experience with the current step "B" probably arise from previous step "A". Do we control the step timing and placement, and the embrace so that each step flows smoothly from the previous one?
Great instructions. Keep them coming!
We're so glad you're enjoying them! Will do!
Very nice!!
Thank you so much!
The first thing seems to be missing in this video. It skips right to the 2nd!
