How beautiful ❤
I'm coming to this very late but want to thank you for this conversation and the volumes of information. I've been told an implant might be good for me but after hearing that music is almost gone has made up my mind. Being a musician, this is something I cannot turn away from. Luckily I have one "good" ear and will rely on that along with the partial hearing I have with the other. Thank you again.
we had a discussion on that topic about a year ago actually, in case you didn't see it: ruclips.net/video/1ekbfhiJ6CI/видео.html
what about the training you went through with the implant? god bless you.

Sounds like my life growing up, started with the body aid. Now I’m getting a cochlear implant.
These are junk - bought 3 sets - gave away 2 - even the smallest eartip doesn't provide a tight fit - tilt your head a couple of times and one or both may fall out. Waste of money - hope the giftees like theirs.
This is wonderful
Maybe the ai could make an improvement innthe ci its so frustrating know that this isnt a real solution has i used to think, maybeb the ai could make an improvement to hear clearly and understsnd músic its hard lost music the humans heal with the music and everybody had the right to enjoy it
Wow. You learn something new ever day. I knew about his hearing loss but i never knew he was this severe. He covered it very well.
Yes rubella syndrome has put me in hearing aids and as usual for us rubella deaf I have no ASL. So the social isolation as been lifelong. And no you never adjust because deaf nor hearing communities are easy.
Awesome! Thank you for sharing and being so strong! I know your next movie will be fantastic and pulling for you!
I lort my hearing due to an ear infection not being treated properly had a scan inner ear hairs damaged that tells brain what your doing tells me I now walk off balance . Any hope if hair regeneration.

And now we in 2024?!!
Is this cochlear implant available for 30years adult
i am a total deaf individual since birth and went to deaf school and at the age of 20 i got my first implant. then 21 years later my implant broke i got it replaced and got one on the other side and became a bilateral cochlear implant user with Med El in 2023. Great Technology
How did you get it replaced?do they do the surgery again?
Sir my both ears are 85% lost will this machine fit me
Same here with the loud cafes and restaurants and music etc. live bands are hard too.
The biggest fear for me is that you loss all hearing, no matter how little you have, in the ear that gets the CI. It’s hard to know when to cut that tether.
I suffered SSHL in my left ear in October of 2023. After much testing and, having to qualify, I am getting my CI in April of 2024. This video just justified that I have made the right decision to get a CI. I am a Nurse and it is almost impossible to perform my duties with SSHL, reactive tinnitus, and hyperacusis. I definitely connected with the participants. Feeling the same as them. I am praying that I will be able to go back to my nursing job after the surgery. Thank you for this video!
Just reading this and realised we are in July 2024. Hope the Op went well and that your life is really good now and you’re back to your nursing😊
Your book changed my life. I had behaved as a victim of hearing loss. You taught me to communicate better and advocate for myself.
Lost my hearing due to labyrinthitis, the ringing and the sensory overload can be crippling sometimes…. Hopefully they can get something going on here.
I changed my health insurance plan, so I was able to get a set of the Signia Active X Pro aids. Yeah, these things do make voices easier to understand, but overall the sound quality sucks. Mine were way too tinny after the audiologist first set them up, and there is really only a volume and tone control in the very lame app. I was setup with around 5 programs, but to be honest I could not tell the difference between them. The app also does not remember settings. It always reverts to the default. So, if you are using the Universal program and change the volume and the tone, then turn off the aids or switch programs, the app will not remember the adjustments that you made. Although these have a list price around $3700, they also don't sound nearly as good for music as a $37 pair of earbuds. And, where cheap earphones usually give you a graphic equalizer, these expensive hearing aids won't let a user adjust anything. All adjustments need to be made by an audiologist, which sucks. Then there is the facts that unlike a cheap set of earphones these expensive devices only work with iPhones for streaming. Oy... Come on Signia...
Speaking of hearing, I have started to watch this show. Here are my observations. I can hear the master of ceremonies' voice much better than I could hear the CEO's voice. Being hearing impaired, I do believe that the main part of this difference is that the MC's voice is pitched in the more treble range and the CEO's voice is much lower and more muddy.
Me i'm planning to get a cochlear implant for my right ear because i don't have eardrum on my right ear due to infection..
For a man like him to get emotional it s incredible
Any update on this
Thank you so much for all your life stories they were very helpful,as my implant is coming in 4 days.
Thank you for sharing your story Mr. Ferringo, it made me sad though. Last week I had an AB cochlear implant installed, and now I'm in the limbo stage.
Lost hearing in both ears to Ménière’s disease, left first and right a few years later, fixing to get right one activated, left one took a while to get used to but it’s a lot better than not hearing anything
LoL. the pregnant girl who wants to hear a little voice....SURPRISE! You'll hear a little robot that whizes clicks and beeps with the shittiest intonations ever! An implant was suggest to me and I soo regret it. The readaptaion is immense, the sound is god aweful. It's a new lnguage composed of metalic sounds and beeps and clicks ou need to learn. I really regret getting an implant becasue I can hear and communicate well with just one hearing aid in my good ear. You have to be deaf or unable to have hearing aids to apreciate this. Because it wont help me on the phone,it wont help me in groups and it doesn't help for the tv. So why th F did the docs put that in me? I can do all that with my regular hearing aid?!?!?!? I find doctors turn to this sergery too fast without considering quality. The more words you recognize the better, even they sound distorted and bad, think R2D2 on a wrong radio frequency and add tatick and random popping sounds...Lastly, if you can hear music a bit and enjoy, the implant will totally destro this. Music ithe way you know it is gone FOREVER.
Hi Doctor: I have a question: If a patient gets a "hearing-improvement" device (e.g., Airpod Pro) other than the expensive prescription hearing aid, and as a result is able to hear very well and is no longer socially isolated, would that prevent dementia as effective as a prescription hearing aid?
Sadly another bust in medicine. Too many of them lately
“Silent Disco” comes to mind as everyone can listen to their own style of music. If they wish, they can listen to nothing but silence. :-)
Holy shit the story re: his dad beating him 😢 his dad was also a total stage dad
Elon Musk PLEASE get that device you're working on going!! You can save millions. (Elites wouldn't want that tho ) what an evil evil world.
I just had my Cochlear Implant two weeks ago and I tested to see if the Kanso 2 would attach #4 magnet. Cannot feel any magnet pull. Cochlear representative said it takes several weeks for the swelling to go down. I do not feel any swelling. A paper click will not even stick. Has anyone experienced this?
Very cool - everyone loves Lou for, sure what a great guy - the explanation about the hearing aids and now the implant is very interesting - I have tinnitus and some times it gets pretty loud and masks voices so I catch myself staring at peoples faces to help me understand what they are saying - this problem is making me appreciate the struggles that people with real hearing loss must deal with and increases my respect for people like Lou who step up and push through to have a good life despite the difficulties - Life is good, even when it ain’t so good sometimes - self determination and positive attitude is the key (in my humble opinion)
He’s very handsome and young looking. He sure doesn’t look 70.

Dude looks pretty good for 70
Well I am astonished that this was produced 3 years ago and I still have problems in Australia getting an MRI wether on my head or my water works. I have had a number of MRI's but each time I get a new Radiologist who has no experience with the neucleus 7 Processor they think I have the old magnet. I now want one for a urology problem. I have been advised to get the radiologists to contact the Cochlear centre for guidance.
Thank you for sharing. I gained so much respect for Lou after hearing his life story. What an inspiration.
Great man.. will always be my hulk.
