Comparing my new Seagull S6 Original to an all Mahogany Washburn.
The Martin isnt a better guitar, youre just paying a premium price for that deep Martin sound. But both guitars sound amazing, especially that seagull!
I think the Martin sound dull in comparison. I have a D28 that I love. But that Seagull has my attention
There s a bathroom on the right ccr😅
Hmmmmm .... S6, and Entourage are different models. Which is yours?
I don't understand doing a sound comparison with different gauge strings. F
And both guitars are gone now. My favorite acoustic is the Taylor GS mini.
Martin wins hands down
Nice tune
The Martin sounds better to my ears. I'd like to hear with the same string Guage
Really enjoyed this good job
Shorty headers or long tubes headers?
Shorty. Eventually I put long tubes on.
I believe the Seagull has the D 15 beat. That is coming from a faithful Martin guy who owns 4 of therm !!!! I also know that Breedlove kicks some serious guitar butt too. Great video thank you !
MINI, SEAGULL, MARTIN FOR ME. IT DEPENDS ON THE SONG. MARTIN IS A BASE NOTED INSTRUMENT IN MY NOVICE OPINION; I.E. TRYING TO PLAY AT 76:) I AM LOOKING AT VINTAGE FOR THE QUALITY AND SOLID CONSTRUCTION/ WOOD. DON'T LIKE LAMINATE ANYTHING NOR MADE IN CHINA, JAPAN , KOREA. USA ONLY WITH THE PROVISO TRUDO IS CASTRO'S RELATION DAAH, I LIKE CANADIAN FRENCH WOMEN, MY FIRST SWEET HEART RIP., AND I LIKE HAND MADE WITH A PRICE I CAN AFFORD. I HAVE A TAYLOR BIG BABY REPAIRED BY A LUTHER, MADE IN USA 2001. I CAN USE IT FOR THIS MUSIC, BUT HAVE TO HAVE A MARTIN LIKE / PERHAPS SEAGULL. THANK YOU SO MUCH. YOU MAKE IT LOOK SO SIMPLE:)
There is no doubt Martins are great, however I own an S6 and play with a guy who is definitely a Martin guy and he is amazed every time we jam. The S6 for me the smaller frets are less forgiving than the Martin... so yeas the Martin is easier to play however, it's mostly my poor technique. As far as sound, my S6 is as loud as any guitar.
I have a Seagull. It was 500 bucks new. Holds up to my Martin which cost twice as much. Great guitar for the money.
I’ve had a seagull s6 for quite a few years now. I treat it like crap and it seems to somehow get better sounding with time. I do like the sound of that Martin too though
GS Mini was the big surprise for me, loud and articulate. Martin won the bass as always but a bit muddy. Didn't like the seagull at all. Maybe it was out of tune?
And the only one out of those I have left is the GS Mini. Such a fun little guitar. Everyone I let play it can't believe how it sounds and plays.
@@scupking I bought one too. GS-mini mahogany and added LR baggs SL pickup. Notes: The LRBaggs anthem top model ?? has a bigger soundhole control that wont fit. Also it comes with 13 strings and I tried a smaller guage with poor results = lost the bass. You really need the 13s to make it talk. Have a Lava Me 2 and didn't like it at first but it grew on me and it can do things no other guitar can do. Since its built with carbon fiber you can toss it in the trunk. Its impervious to weather so I don't really have an yexcuse not to practice now! A wood guitar would be destroyed. Looking for an Alvarez M60beg used now.
I’m a GS mini fan mostly because of its more compact size and sounds just about the same as a full size guitar which is impressive
1_martin, 2-seagull, 3- Taylor. Taylor is todo brilliant without middles and basses
I have the same Martin. I take it out of the case just so I can smel! it sometimes. The light strings really do smooth out the tones of the Martin. I used to have a Seagull S6 also, it now is my daughters, It also is an exceptional guitar with great playability.
Seagull S6 by far. I won an Art & Lutherie made by Godin and it also sounds amazing. Don't be fooled by "name".
Did you shifter happen to have any play in it? I just ordered one
Martin!
The Martin wins for me, though the Taylor sounded almost as good (just less of it). I've heard some great sounding Entourages, but this one felt off to me.
It all depends on what you like..Seagull has more bang for the buck but I love my 1985 Martin HD 28,I will not part with it..
They both sound like crap. It has nothing to do with the guitars.
What? Can’t hear you.
nice guitar collection.
The Seagull is slightly out of tune..
I think with the capo...yeah. when he took it off, and played Dead Or Alive, it sounded better. I have the Seagull S6 Slim, and the frets are skinny and tall (same as on this model). I ended up buying a Shubb adjustable capo for this reason. My regular standard Keyser (which works fine on pretty much all my other guitars) would always throw it slightly out of tune unless I really fiddled with the angle of the thing... sounded poorly intonated.
The d15 sounds better to me. The seagull next, the taylor mini's lack something to me but they are super comfortable. I find the wider nutwidth seagull s6 to be better because "thumb strummer". It's warm and I think that their niche. Common folks intimate setting kinda guitar. Good video comparison.
I like the Seagull, but sounds slightly out of tune
I'm liking the fuller and richer tone of the Seagull personally. Both great guitars. Sights on a Seagull Maritime SWS for my collection. Great vid
The Taylor sounded a bit cheap but the Martin and Seagull had a better sound. All three are good but for my money. the Seagull.
Can't stand when people say Seagulls are great guitars for the money. Seagulls are just great guitars, period!
Amen!
1987 S6 and 2007 La Patrie Concert. Love Godin family guitars.
Yes I have a $300 20 year old seagull parlor and I can’t stop playing it and I have a other guitars that cost more
I wish the people doing these demonstrations would tune the guitars BEFORE they do the demo. It's difficult to judge when one guitar (the Seagull) was significantly out of tune against one that is in tune (the Martin). It''s not a fair test when using different strings. Just my opinion.
Whoa! d moment u played d seagull it seems obvious it sounded with more clarity of sound, but playing along in the strumming sound, Martin seems sounds better.
Although, no two guitars sound alike, no-matter what make, or price a well made guitar costs, I find top quality of sound with the Seagull S6, as well as the Martin D-15. I would be equally happy with a Seagull S6, as I would with a very pricey Martin D-15, but with the Seagull, I would have great quality overall, at a much lower price range. I have heard Seagull S6 guitars compared against other Martin guitar models, and if you didn't know which one was being played at the time, it was next to impossible to know which guitar was being played, and to me that's top quality. I have seen how both the Martins are made at the factory, as well as the Seagulls at their factory, and have found bout have deep devotion in quality, put ito making both guitars, but I did notice that the bracing in the Seagull S6, is much stronger than Martin made guitars, and the way the necks are mounted, Seagull takes the prize, as there is far less chance of a Seagull neck joint, needing a neck reset, like with a Martin, or Gibson guitar, might need over time. Choosing between the two, I'd go for the Seagull, and I do own one, and I find the overall quality great, with top quality Canadian lumber (specially the Cherry). Money saved, is better in my pocket, than in Martin's pocket, and I still have a great sound with the Seagull. I'm happy.
I like the seagull much better. Sounds louder which I'm told makes people like any guitar more
First off they all sound outta tune. Second the Martin is not worth the money Taylor sounds full. But the gull steals the show hands down. Just goes to show that you dont always get what you pay for and sometimes you get more for what you pay.
That Seagull just sounds so much rounder, warmer and vibrantly balanced. But yep, it's a 'humble' instrument - no need to stick the nose up !
I had a Martin D 16 GT Lefty $1,300 it was gutless, didn't resonate out the sound hole, dumped it 4 a loss.
Im a Martin fan, but imo seagull wins
I have an old Martin D-12-35 from the 1960s and have had it and loved it since the mid 1970s, so I'm inclined to be biased in favor of anything Martin. But hearing the two guitars side by side, I think I like the Seagull perhaps slightly better. But, I'm sorry to criticize, but I don't think the comparison was done that well, so it's very hard to tell. Another comparison I saw had the same two microphones near the same place on the guitars he was comparing. The guitar player was really good and able to take advantage of the full capabilities of the guitars--strumming, clean and accurate and fast finger picking, sustain, and mixing in harmonics. I'm not a good player by any stretch of the imagination myself so I would not be able to do something like what that player did or even as good as this person did. But one thing he did was to play the same song and cut the video so that the song continued switching between the two videos and keeping the song going. This made it sooooo easy to hear the differences between the two guitars compared directly rather than being separated by comments and switching guitars where you can forget how the other guitar sounded. In other words, you'd hear one with a little caption saying "Martin" and another saying "Seagull" or Gibson or Guild or whatever it was. But it was the best direct comparison I have ever heard.
Seagull S6 is a nice guitar if you have between four and five hundred dollars in your pocket; perhaps one of the best out there at that level. You go into an entirely different class of guitar when you look at the Martin. A thousand dollar price differential is not simply CF Martin trying to gouge the consumer. There is an obvious difference in the tone, the sustain, the overall presentation. The Seagull is a campfire guitar, albeit a nice one. the Martin is a heirloom guitar that your grandchildren will use, one that will sell for twice its initial face value in twenty or thirty years.
Mar-In? No, it's Mart-Tin
Why the capo on the Seagull and not the Martin?
Mike PJ10 Look again
I stand corrected pal. Pardon my blind eyes sometimes. Don’t know how I missed that. Lol
Hi, thanks for this video! It's helpful. Some very cool guitars here . Especially like the Taylor vs Seagull comparison. Thanks!!
i like the sound in s6 because it is warmer than martin
After playing a shit ton of different guitars, all different prices rangjng from 500-2700 dollars i bought me a seagul s6 original. slapped some 13/56 phosphorus bronze elixers and put some tusq bridge pins in and my oh my oh my. Got it for 240 bucks. Went back to guitar store and this guitar sounded better fuller boomier clear’r played better than the 30 guitars i played. Price from 1000-3200 bucks. I absolutely love this guitar. Only other guitar id even think about buying is an andrew white eos 2so for 1200 bucks. My wife was going to but it for me and i told no i love my guitar. This thing is so bad ass. 240 bucks !!!! Cant beat it. Get one you will not be disappointed, or go broke buying some expensive ass guitar
i love the sound of that seagull
The Rustic was so badly out of tune I couldnt listen for more than 8 seconds
Guys its subjective. LIke my S6 a lot but the Martin's I played I thoguht were better my buddy who is a Martin guy thinks my S6 sounds better.. Who knows. I like what I like. Actually my favorite guitar is the $30 chinese nylon string in my jeep right now. Why? Because!
