Ep. 185: Making A Mimosa Flower Tincture at Home (Step-by-Step Guide)
Cool property. I had the similar stituation when putting up my fence, I unrolled hay bales to help with the grass and it worked great. I also left room so I can mow on the outside of the fence to keep the growth away from the fence line.
I’m still on alert because of the sleeper cells. Plus as you stated much more
Would 80 proof work too?
I had a great time! I would like to learn how to financially structure and protect a homestead with multiple streams of income using multiple LLCs, etc while still staying legit. (Without wandering into 'Better Call Saul' or 'Breaking Bad' territory! 🤣)
That is a great topic! I will add that to the list! Thanks for coming to the festival Karen, it was so good seeing you. I'm sad that I didn't get to spend much time with you but I'm glad you got to hang with Patty!
Had a fantastic time and learned so much information! Thank you for putting this on.
Girl....I am so glad we got to see y'all and spend time. You definitely kept me sane!
I never heard of skinning a chicken this was interesting to watch, so thank you for sharing. Until i get my meat birds we buy the chicken on sale and raw pack it with just salt in it. So yummy. And the canned chicken came in handy when we lost our electricity for a couple of days. That first night I just opened a jar and ate it straight from the jar. Very thankful for that. These kind of days David calls making memories. Glad you had a good day and God bless y'all!
Having good canned meat in the pantry sure does come in handy! We don't care for canned meat from the store but this turned out fantastic! The skinning was actually pretty easy. Just one more skill/tool to have on hand.
Add Apple Cider Vinegar to your tea!
Great idea! ACV helps with EVERYTHING! lol
My hubby and I are getting ready to skin our chicken for the first time. Looking forward to your video. Perfect timing.
Give it a try. One more tool to have in your toolbelt!
I don't do monkeys either, they freak me out.
Same
You've been watching too much Fox News. False information... Listen to the Governor of that state.
What do you live in a box? You mean you trust the government?
Not false information at all...first hand information from Jason. This is what he saw himself.
Raccoons are very smart 😂. We went camping at Raccoon State Park back in 2018. We had a pop up camper and had put our cooler outside under the front bed. Its about 9pm and we were playing cards inside and we heard a sound. We went outside and a raccoon had gotten the cooler open (we hadn't latched it completely- never again lol). Anyway Clint had to actually go up to it to get it to leave. It had pulled several bags of cooked food and some cheese out and was still digging trying to get to the left over steak from supper. Never realized those things 🦝 were picky about the food they ate lol 😅😂😂
It was so good to see you both at the festival! Thanks for all your help Melanie!
New sub from perm pastures farm video
Thank you for subbing! Great to have you!
How do you know comfrey infused olive oil is rancid? I have some of this oil that I forgot about downstairs in a cool basement. I don't know if the smell comes from the comfrey or the olive oil or combination. I spread some of the oil on my arm heavily and it doesn't smell like anything, maybe light olive oil scent and comfrey combined. There was no mold in the jar. I think it was down there about 6 months and yes, I only used dried comfrey. Thanks for your input on this.
Rancid oil smells awful. That's how I tell. Hope that helps.
I had some tea from goldenrod yesterday, and it did wonders for me
Goldenrod is my new favorite. Recently I used it for a UTI and it helped relieve symptoms.
I rinse any plants I pick so that there are no bugs.I recently found the cutest yellow spider that blended right into the golden hue.I am respectful to the plants offerings as well as the creatures hiding in them.I urge you do the same.😉
That's a good idea. Thanks for stopping by.
We now buy the grindstone ministry coffee to help support their ministry year round. Good coffee.
I did not realize they had a coffee. Great idea!
My heart aches for them. So many unanswered questions. God bless y'all!
It's so frustrating!
77% more...that seemed crazy high to me. But using that, it looks like the East Coast wants as much salary as the west coast, a bit more. So they might be making about 120 000 a year then. Now they make ave 81,000.
All of it is so sketchy! American made products don't require ports.
Yeah....ur right...the nfrastructor has needed help for years. Biden admin got the infrastructure bill pased. Andcrepublicans did not vote for it. But dems somehow got it passed without their support. All should have voted for that bill. Money is already going into places and bridges and roads are getting fixed finally. Cannot be too soon.
I'm tired of our tax dollars being used for things I don't agree with. There are so many needs here we need to address.
I can't stress enough the importance of having several plans to rely on in times of emergencies. Great topic as usual.
Thank you Lawrence! Glad you stopped by.
Great convo! Thank you!
Thank you for stopping by!
BTW, pretty sure some antibiotics do build in the system... at least in humans. I got toxic on antibiotics one year because I had been on them for mutiple infections. Doc said they were looping in my system. It was definitely not fun.
Oh no! Glad you are better now.
Our horse sliced both front legs... deep... on the electric fence atop our fencing. Deep cut which I thought for sure meant death. Yet... after an entire summer of wearing blue jean pants legs with suspenders holding the 2 sleeves together... she was eventually fine. Tough keeping a dog inactive? Try keeping a horse tied tight all summer... in Oklahoma.😮 Salve for wounds was critical as well. Vet should sell you that.
He is doing good now. I can't imagine trying to keep a horse from moving around. I bet the jeans and suspenders were cute though.
Yep @@twooldcrowshomestead cute... but so painful to deal with. As with yours, last I knew she was doing well with no residual effects. Blew me away how resilient she was.😮
Two old crow's,love the name of your channel.. Crow's are one of my favourite birds.. Right I am going to watch the video now..Thankyou for sharing your technique's really appreciate it.. Have a blessed day ✌️☮️🌼🍄🦋💜✌️☮️🌼🍄🦋💜
Thank you for checking us out!
My vodka doesn’t cover my goldenrod completely. I shake it every day but does it matter that it isn’t completely covered? Maybe just 1/4 inch not covered. Thx
It should still be fine, especially since you are shaking it up frequently. Thanks for stopping by!
Erin come back I miss you , need some help out here
She is awesome, isn’t she!
So more great info. We keep different things in our vehicles depending on the season. We also always keep paper maps in the car just bec3of all the traveling we do. God bless y'all!
Great ideas! We do need to change out items based on seasons. Set a calendar reminder.
Hello 👋 Shelli, here in Jackson we have had a little over 8 inches of rain over the five days since Thursday morning when it started
Wow...that's a lot!
Hello. I infused my comfrey in my magic butter machine and it came out super duper green. IThe infused oil is the same deep green as the leaves. Smells great but by the looks of it it is very strong. How would I use it in salve. Can I dilute it to make it go further??
I use comfrey salve for bruises, joint pain, sprains and strains. Muscle pain too. I wouldn't dilute it. I am now going to look up what a magic butter machine is lol. I've never heard of that.
Jason wouldn't be the first inmate to tell Casey "say hi to Lawrence"
Hilarious!
Honestly I think we need people like Jason in office. God bless y'all!
We definitely need to be more involved!
Good morning 🌞, the leading edge of Francine is hitting Jackson Tennessee at 7:00 this morning as the rain has started already
Late commenting on this. Glad y'all are good.
I have several mimosa trees growing in my yard, and I use it for hot tea. I saved some of the bark I was wondering if it could be smoked in any way? Thank you for your video it's awesome!
I asked my herbal teacher, Leslie, and she said she has never processed the bark to smoke. She said several people have asked her about it and she thinks they are curious because it can be processed into DMT for psychoactive effects. However, there is a whole process to that and it would be better to ask an herbalist that focuses on psychoactive plants. Hope that helps.
Jerusalem Artichokes are considered a perennial survival food. I love them roasted I coat them with olive oil , sprinkle garlic powder and a little salt ..omg..so good! One of the main reasons beside it being an edible perennial food for me is that for 1-you can sell them for $10 and up per pound. They’re an excellent potato substitute for diabetics because they won’t spike your blood sugar as there is no carbohydrates. Also very good as an appetite suppressant..as a fiber it swells up in your stomach and intestine absorbing water by doing so it reduces your appetite. So many benefits to growing this plant.
I think they taste good as well. Thanks for the info!
Hello 👋, I have been a mooch for better than ten years and raised my American Guinea hogs for the cost of hauling up to 500 pounds of waste produce from a grocery store for five years. The interesting part about this is that they drank no water for the entire five years and my two biggest hogs weighed over 600 pounds each. I agree that this situation can be gone in a heartbeat. I myself am keeping the number of animals down and working with those that eat primarily grass. That’s why I have Kunekune pigs. Our next animal will be meat birds in the spring. There again I will have some feed costs but are within our budget. Money spent on feed for the animals is replacing what we buy in the grocery store and the grocery stores can go away also without food for the shelves
You're ahead of the game! Keep it up!
I dumpster dive the 5 star for the sandwiches they throw out.
The 5 Start close to us won’t allow that.
Definitely cooler weather. I love snow but now I'm older I prefer fall. 😊🍁🍂🍁
Me too. Fall and spring for me.
KSL in the house
Woot woot!
Good morning 🌞 Shelli and Jason, it’s funny Jason mentioned box wood bushes. When we moved here to Tennessee I ripped out two huge boxwoods and planted asparagus. Now I have a better looking bed and edible plants growing there
Grow food!!
I have a jar of flowers that have been soaking in voldca for a month. When its ready should I just use it as a tincture. Can I use it for everyday supplement??
Thanks for stopping by. Yes to the tincture question. My book says you can "Dose this by the dropper full to lift the spirits."
Greetings, I hope this message finds you well. I recently came across your RUclips channel and was thoroughly impressed by the quality of your content. It's evident that you've cultivated a dedicated audience who appreciates your work. As a fellow enthusiast of your content, I have some ideas that I believe could further elevate your channel's success. I look forward to the opportunity to discuss these ideas with you. Warm regards.
Can we do the same with fresh Comfrey?
Thanks for stopping by! The problem with using fresh plant matter in oil is that it can make the oil go rancid. It's better for the plant matter to be dry.
I believe that they have autonomous cars as Uber cars in NYC
That's scary!
Good morning Shelli, I have been getting old refrigerators and freezers for repurposing. I got a refrigerator with a stainless steel door and fastened it to a cheap old dining room table. I had an old four wheeled dolly that I mounted the whole works on. It makes a wonderful processing table and only cost me about $30. I’m not sure if I posted it on IG or not. It’s pretty stinking cool though
I love repurposing stuff!
I put mine in a large Ziploc bag and shook the hell out of it then poured the seeds into a seed envelope. I also think I let it dry out/mature too long after looking at yours as mine was much more brown and dried up and got a fraction of the seeds you got, and I noticed the individual pods were mostly open. Bummer!
@@callingyouout I’ll try the ziploc bag next time. Didn’t even think of that. Thanks!
As always very good information. I have to admit I need to start reaching out and introducing myself to the neighbors. I was 8n Home Care nursing for about 10 years and one of my fave things was wound care. We were always researching trying to find the best way to help heal wounds, especially the ulcers on legs. I hadn't heard of this electric option until this podcast and it does sounds promising, especially when you consider what a grounding mat can do for a person’s system. Thank you to you and Jason for tak8ng your time and doing this. God bless y'all!
Thank you for checking it out! We appreciate you!
Red lentils are best then sorghum
I will give that a try. I tend to do sprouting more in the winter time to give them more diversity. Thanks!
Thank you for the update. Love seeing your homestead.❤
You are so welcome!
Your garden looks like mine
I'm getting ready to weed eat and feed it all to the sheep. (After I figure out if there is anything I can tincture.)
8 weeks old now he’s 16 weeks old
I thought he was 11 weeks when we got him.
