Kenzie Lang’s début short film “Insomnia” leaves you feeling irked and unsettled. I was looking over my shoulder and my every sound I heard and thinking twice about dark corners after my first watch. The film stands very strong on its foundation of harsh and machine-like sound design which is purposely abrasive to leave you disturbed. Combined with beautiful dream-like colour grading, you really get a sense of abnormality. The film showcases Kenzie’s prowess and skill for identifying artistic and tasteful shots/ frames. In a new arthouse horror film world, Lang’s work fits in marvellously. If I were the reader, I’d stay tuned for more of her work in the future, I have a feeling she’s going to be a household name. -The Dickson Times
