Concrete Formwork and Rebar Bending for Monolithic Slab
Bending rebar with a giant oak tree stump as a jig and calculating concrete yards for a 24x32 monolithic slab (+ 12x8 utility room) -- sketchup says about 18 yards. Should I just order two full trucks (20 yards) or buy an extra 4 yards and pour some other projects? Also don't worry: I'm adding more kickers.
Thanks to my concrete professors: @MikeDayConcrete @DIRT-BOSS and @OdellCompleteConcrete
We'll post before the pour, too.

We are in California / UPC. Very curious if any of you pros see any issues!

    If you have your tub drain where you want it make a box out of 4 15 inch 2x4’s for your concrete guys. You’ll need to get down and dig it out once you go to hook up the tub! It’s a lot less fun jack hammering it up later 😂

    Only thing is I'm not sure how you are going to hook up the tub drain on rough in..usually we put a box down to make a void in concrete and trap the tub on rough in. The tub drain needs to be precise.

      I'll have the tub box in before the ne t inspection. I hope that gives me some wiggle room.

    20 yr vet. You just need to turn the 2" wye to the opposite side its currently on. The rest will speak for itself.

    Another thing no one pointed out is in L.A. city code(who sets the standard by the way) You can not use a double wye as a drain horizontally. Only vertical. And if you're going to use a horizontal wet vent instead of doing almost the full circle you could have just used wye's.

    • @uponacedarfarm
      @uponacedarfarm 4 месяца назад

      I thought the violation here would technically be UPC 1002.3 CO required if direction change > 90deg. Maybe then the only solution here is to dry vent the tub and go straight into the 3" downstream of the WC. UPC 908.2.5 says "other vented fixtures OK downstream of wet vent". Thanks for the feedback and that's interesting about LA city code. I used to live by 3rd/La brea.

    Just tie it in past the water closet. It's vented it will be fine.

    • @uponacedarfarm
      @uponacedarfarm 4 месяца назад

      I think because of UPC it would need its own dry vent. I'm thinking about this, too...before I start cutting and gluing again. These dwv fittings aren't cheap 😳

    18 years v.a. plumber and n9 inspector would catch that only a troll would do your way and the hell with some trol meantions as long as there long sweep 90s no problems i see

  • @8bitsloweh

    A drain can not cumalatively change more than 135 degrees. So 45+45+45. You can't use the 90's in drainage. Hit me up. Your wet vent Y is better flipped. You can also change wherever directions on the wet vent portion (lav)

    • @uponacedarfarm
      @uponacedarfarm 4 месяца назад

      This is really interesting. Flip the 2" wye and long sweep 90 off the side toward the lav, then use the 45 side of the 2" wye for the tub trap arm. This is technically the easiest fix! It would result in greater than 90 degrees (on the lav side) but that's not a trap arm; if I understand you right, that's a wet vent and a drain which gets me 135 degrees -- my long sweep 90 + a 45 OR 3 45s. Am I following you right?

    Need to cut it all back don't cap the double sweep.

  • @vegeta766
    @vegeta766 4 месяца назад

    That would fail inspection in hawaii. We use the 2018 code and the wet vent needs to be 1 pipe size bigger. Since the water closet vent needs to be a 2-inch vent, the wet vent would need to be 2-1/2" or 3". Also, the vent can not run even with the drain. We have to roll our vents up a minimum of half the drain or at least 1/16 bend. We can not use bell reducers like that. We would have to use a eccentric reducer.

  • @TeamTnA44
    @TeamTnA44 4 месяца назад

    Then the trap would have to be seperately vented . We do IPC.

    • @tdotw77
      @tdotw77 4 месяца назад

      That seems way more easier than what you have going in here now. Just a straight line to 2 x3Wye before the 3 x3Wye. Not sure why you would want to add all the 90°'s to begin with. Better off catching it now before it fails or gets covered up completely & causes more problems! 👍🏻🤔👌🏻🛠️🔧🦺⚠️

      Thanks!!! I misunderstood the code 😂 -- I'm going to dry vent it and tie it into the 3" with a wye. Sort of painted myself into a corner here. Thank you for catching that and commenting.
