Very cool, are you doing away with the bump stops then?
Thanks Mike. I was just watching your bump steer video again. I’ve got work to do there. But yes, I am doing away with the bump stops and let the bypass shock do the work.
AWESOME Miah!! You're definitely killing it on the build!!! You keep me excited to work on my bug!! Super excited to see how you do rear shocks also!
Thanks Tim. I really like making these videos because it keeps me concentrated on completing one task at a time. Usually I jump all over the place lol
@MiahsBug I get it!! Im way behind on my build due to some issues with my ex.....So Im really chomping at the bit to hit it!
Let me know if you ever need anything I can help with.
@MiahsBug I appreciate that brother!!! Between you and Damian at Binder Builder you guys keep me inspired!!
Looking good Miah!!
Thanks Will!
Love the build and your style keep up the great work 👍💪😊
Thanks so much Harold. And thanks for watching!
I got a question, where or how can i figure out how to solve bumpsteer.
My setup is currently cycling more bumpsteer than I like. I battled with it for a few nights and made 3 different steering brackets. Still not solved but getting close. I don’t have a straight forward answer for you other than setting up a temporary rig to find the correct geometry

Looking good
Thank you!
NICE! you're really making progress quickly, keep it up!
Thanks HRD. Will do!
No way that only took you 8 minutes 😂 Dude, that’s killer work! I’m super excited to see what’s next.
Haha, I usually shoot for 10-15 min but once I cut the random stuff, it is what it is lol. Thanks Gary
Very good-looking setup!. I definitely want some bypass shocks for my project. Thanks for the inspiration and motivation!
Of course. I’m still not certain they are completely necessary in the front but the cool kids have them and the price was right on these shocks.
Awesome!!! How did you like sendcutsend?
Honestly, I love them. I usually just cut the parts myself but if I have time to wait a week they are awesome. Those two plates were only $33 shipped!
@ that’s awesome! Do you have to download your own CAD software?
@Janderson357 yeah. I don’t know what is the cheapest or easiest to use though
very cool! looks great so far!
Thanks Bash! It is coming along! Sometimes I wish I didn’t have a day job so I could build more lol
So sick
Thanks RedBear!
2hrs later
🤣
The safety side of me says sure, bolting those seats to the crossbars would be safest. The redneck in me says you could probably get away with hose clamps. Great work bud 👍🏻
I may actually do that 🤣 thanks for the comment!
Nice tip on the tumbler.
Thanks. I just tried it one day and worked good. Now I use it all the time.
The ones you are removing are not called incandescent ...they are referred to as 'fluorescent' lights. Totally different. Fluorescent lights used a gas internally in the tube. Incandescent lights use tungsten filaments internally to burn.
Thanks for the information! I noticed it I said the wrong thing when I was editing.
No one ever talks about the worst nightmare of a relationship . You wife just found a new friend that she has talked to 3 whole times at the coffee shop . Now she invited them over for dinner on Sunday night football and they are Vegan . What could happen ?
That sounds horrific. Stay strong Mark
A real man would have let her find him out in the garage lol
Nice workmanship!
Thanks Scotty!!!
Did something similar a year and a half ago with a similar Amazon product (Barrina, IIRC); similar mounting and wiring style and layout approach. My son did it before me in his garage, his experience is he started losing individual LED’s (sections of LEDs, I think) after a year or so but buying replacement sets is pretty cheap and replacement is easy. At these prices they’re almost ‘replaceable’ like other types of bulbs, just plan on replacing a couple every year or so. Nice job!
Cool, thanks for the heads up. It’s very cheap to just replace a whole unit so that will be my approach. Thanks for watching
I know this video isn't real because no women I've ever known can take a shower/ get ready in 20 minutes or less. It's more like 45 to an hour
Haha busted
If it wasn't true....😅😅😅
Every second counts lol
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Glad you liked it.
LMAO! I can relate to that!
My man! 😂
Totally agree swapped out a couple years ago in 40x60 garage .Twice as bright.
I really like them. Thanks for watching
Also, I would love to have a shop that big! Life goals!
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🤝🤝🤝🤝🤝🤝🤝🤝🤝🤝🤝🤝🤝
those lights don't put out much actual light....I put 4 in my 12 x 20 free standing enclosed carport. I then added 4 more plus 4 of the screw in light socket type lights. The screw in type put out 4 or 5 times the light. I wouldn't waste my money on these lights. You could have simply switched to led bulbs in your existing fixtures and had better light.
I agree that a single bulb aren’t as bright at the fluorescent. But they are so cheap and easy to install that you can put up more. This provides better light coverage and my garage is at least twice as bright.
This is a baja bug dream car for me too 😊. Thanks for building it!
You are welcome sir. Thanks for watching. I love it so far
Nice approach! Not only do the florescent tubes seem to go bad after a short period of time, but then you have to deal with disposal.
Yessss! I have a whole box of them now. Need to find where to take them
Very cool going through the tunnel. Love it. They look AWESOME!
Thanks Dom! Going through the tunnel is a good way to keep everything nice and straight/ strong
@MiahsBug yeah, I wondered how people do that, and that's definitely a good way to make it happen. With my low-profile chassis, I'm glad I don't have to deal with the tunnel anymore! Keep it up!
I'm pretty sure 2x4s are in the SCORE handbook as approved seat mounts, shoulda just rolled on with those 😅
I think the book says that if you want to be safe you have to use spruce. Those were pine 🤣
@@MiahsBug😂
I take ut you arent interested in removing the body from the pan with those cross bars going through the tunnel?
Actually, I am. The body comes off the pan. The roll cage is integral with the pan though.
@MiahsBug Oooohhhh!!! I see it now!
@@JMC8415 if I was building it one piece (which a lot of people do), I would want to get it painted inside. Otherwise it’s hard to deal with
Great video as always!!!!
Thanks Jake!
😭😭😭
🤣
@@MiahsBugare you pulling a mike vick?😂
@ no no no. Stopped the fighting sir
Nice job ,looking great and sturdy 👌
Thanks Sebastiaan. I like these way better than anything I have found off the shelf
Stellar work my dude! Absolutely love the mounts!!!
Thanks Gary, step by step.
Nice
Thanks Suge!

A strap, chain, or cable between the A arm/axle and the frame to take the droop out of the suspension. Then you don't have to jack it up as much. It really helps when you have long travel suspension.
That’s true. Some cars jack up on the arms so it works great
Man, you got Mad Fab skills. I'm a half way decent mechanic, but nothing like you have.
Thanks Bruce. I practice and try to get better all the time. I started building stuff when I was a kid and never stopped. Thanks for watching
When I first moved onto my house, the garage had a couple of the old t-12 fixtures with the ballasts. One day I came back out to the garage and smelled smoke! Turns out on of them had died, but it really scared the crap out of me thinking I had an electrical fire somewhere in the garage. Now I’ve got the T-8 fluorescent bulbs with no ballasts, I may switch to the ones you installed.
I really like them and they are so light and easy to install. Oh and cheap! Sorry you had a fire scare. That sucks
I converted all my fluorescents to T8 LED no ballasts, kept the original fixtures. Work great.
@gnic76 that’s cool. I should have looked into that
@MiahsBug Depending on price, might work out to same cost. Mine were 12 LED bulbs for $120 Canadian. Lol well worth it though.
@gnic76 maybe a little bit more but easier to just change bulbs.
Make sure to fit rubber boots to all those ball joints. Sand got in between the metal ball joint in on of our guys' car, made the steering to lock up. He tried to correct and turned the wheel with force, when it finally got unstuck it threw the car 6 rolls over the roof while doing 217km/h
Wow, that is terrible. I will look into those boots for sure. Thanks
Love the videos man! You’re making killer progress on the build. I have a 73 project I want to make a woods/road bug. And it’s a lot of work. I’m sticking with a beam front and 3x3 rears tho. I’m not that fancy on making my own stuff haha. How do you like that affordable bender though? Thought about buying one but was iffy on it
I love beam cars and would love to have one for on/offroad use. They are great machines with 3x3s. I’m sure you’ll love it. The affordable bender was a bit difficult to get used to, now I LOVE it. It has some limitations with bend radius but it’s so small it fits on a shelf and is perfect for garage building
When it's complete what would the total length of the car be, Bumper to bumper ?
I don’t have a final number yet due to the engine and cage not being installed. When I get the engine cage on, I’ll make sure to measure it.
Nice work! I hope you kept shop plans and welding fixtures for everything, so if you crash and need to replace parts it will be easier the 2nd time!
I do. I have everything saved so if I need to do a major replacement/repair, I just start building
@@MiahsBugdid you also design the suspension, or did you get it from someone? How did you choose where to use chromoly, and where to use mild steel?
@DrKnowNothing1 the front suspension is designed off of @dougbugbuilder. I built them. The rear started as BuggyBarn 5x5 trailing arms then modified them. A lot of it is what I call “eyeball engineering” a lot of research helps. I look mostly at other peoples failures to determine where I need extra strength
I just found your account and I’m hooked! Watch all of your videos this weekend! Keep going I want to see her drive this year!
No way, you binged them all? You’re awesome. Thanks for the support Carson. If you ever have any questions just throw them in the chat. I don’t want to bore some people with too many details.
