Whatever you are comfortable with. Generally speaking having a heavier ball is better because it has more force hitting the pins and gives you a better chance of striking than a lighter ball, but if you just want a ball to have fun with and done care too much about the scores than I would say you can still use an 8 pound ball if that’s what you like

Yes it is. It was actually my first ball I ever got. It doesn't hook a ton but that's because it is a spare ball but I would recommend it as a first ball. I still use one of them to this day.

Yeah I do plant but I have new shoes now that have better slides so if I wanted to I could I just don’t like it.
