The Mayor and other town dignitaries meet him on Cliffe Bridge and he is verbally assaulted by a rogue monk who is later arrested and (probably) thrown into the River

This was a great event: almost unrehearsed, a collaboration between the Historic Re-anactors and the people of Lewes, mainly represented by the Bonfire Societies. Each Society chose a historical character and used the colours of their society to identify themselves; red and white, Waterloo, black and yellow, Commercial Square, blue and yellow. South St...etc Each Society facilitated a dramatic presentation that had some historical fact and took place in the accurate location according to contemporary documents.
