Centerville World 2010- "Rhythm Nation"
Year 2024 here… my first WGI finals was 2008. I have been fortunate to see some incredible lines at the end of that decade. Incredible performers from the front ensembles to the battery. Rhythm X 2009 was a force that still haunts and taunts the lines of today. Still setting the example of what a Drumline should sound, look, and perform like. Thank you Rhythm X.
Whos watching this in 2024?
I still come back and watch this video. Really changed my game. Thanks for this upload!
Ditto <3
Needs to make a comeback. Maybe pulse or rcc could bring it back.
sad we wont see them this year
I want this era of Bluecoats again.
Brett Favre?
Such raw energy. This is one of the greatest things I've ever seen
Realase at 0:46 wasn’t great that day but man, that was that a fun group of dudes to drum with in 09!
Nothing helped my flams like this exercise! Thanks Mike!
JL
imo cavies sound a lot like this line rn
I don't know why drew can't stop laughing
Who was the center snare for this year?
3:20 All the single ladies...all the single ladies 3:30 "Oh my..."
This is one of the Bluecoat Legacy Lines that when combined with 2008 the back to back lines set in motions the rise to elite status of today. The 2009 line was one of the summer it lines that year.
Oh my goodness, Blue Stars tech WILL NEVER LIVE DOWN being in Bluecoats. too bad Blue Stars sounded trash through the 2010s, by the fucking way, HORRIBLE ending
Tilt head to the left...got it.
As many times as I watched this since it was posted, it still gets me that Justin's face is just like 😑 the whole time lol
<3
This sounds like the cavaliers, was Macintosh their caption head at the time because I think I remember reading that somewhere
I think these cats just met up in December and said "fuck the plane"
The snare looks looks like RoboCop trying to drum but with normal arms
1:48 what
Cavies play this exercise now. How cool!
Luke at 1:00 off step buddy :D
I attended the On Q camp they held at Denison University in 2008...would anyone have the video from the On Q Camp's performance with the Drumline? There was a video of it posted but I can't seem to find it and have been looking for several years. Thanks
I never got a chance to speak to him in person except in 2006 during a rehearsal when I spoke to the line. The 2008 line really pushed the recognition as bluecoats being a topline in DCI in my opinion and as a former Bloo snare alumni this guy is one of the top 3 thru out the years. He just has the look, chops and the it factor that brings it.
Justin Lewis is my drumline instructor at cockmeat sandwich highschool in asshole village
>asshole village Is that like Expert Village? Somewhere upundadahood?
GET OUT!

The Definition of Bad Ass Right here.
abby do you remmeber bass 3 name?
Justin is god, he's our snare tech at our high school. Be jealous
dont tell me what to do lmao
Did anyone go to their On Q Drum Camp at Denison University back in June of 2008? I'm trying to find some video of the last day performance at the camp.
1:40 OG PBE
justin lewis is my instructor, he's the snare that the camera really focuses in on
Mine is a guy named Brandon who was on snare also
Makes me miss my snare line sooo much. lol
what sticks did they use?
Tim fairbanks i believe or Jim Casellas.
are they good sticks?
I mean they are good to me. Only because i can produce a nice triplet stroke. But i've used them for so long that i grew to like them than the MS3's by Vic firth.
jim casellas are great. i love them
Man I come back at watch this all the time! Ever since I met you and the rest of the bass line at a Matrix Clinic in Indiana not to long ago I have been obsessed with Matrix. It also helps that David, a guy from the snare line from this show, and Shelby, a cymbal player, were my techs this past winter! But I loved the show so much! It was so awesome getting to meet you as well!
Lol. 2:10 "Shhhhit" Spock!
yeah ahah
When do you age out?
Aged out of DCI crown 12, and wgi 14, this past season.
Justin Lewis (on the far left, brown hair, tall) was out my instructor for our high school. He truly is a god on the snare drum getting to work with him was one of the most enjoyable things I've ever been lucky enough to do
he aged out already in 2008
That would Luke or Aaron you are talking about.
2nd snare from the left's drum his soooo freaking low how does he play all those notes like that?
Shit dude i always feel bad for short guys on lines that do that. They honestly should put the comfort of their players first. i mean, if you're drumming at you freaking chest, it's gonna be hard to play clean
haha wow if you don't mind me asking, what college?
Ah. Ill look anyway, just because i'm curious but anyway, thats cool to know you were center as such a short guy. How tall were you?
That is surprising, but i guess some of them maybe wanted to go to OSU or something.
I know you posted this 3 months ago and stuff. But have you seen cadets 2011 snareline. One of them had their snare as low as it could go. The rest of the line was a head below him so his snare had to go low as well.
@mrpainless45 doesnt matter whne you have flat feet. idk about just but i do have flat feet. vans were always more comfortable for my feet. also after about an hour in running shoes i wouldnt be able to stand.. hurt my feet that bad...but everyone is different
Anyone know why the end snare has white shoe laces and not blue?
Dope to see you did WGI! You marching next season?
I aged out this past season :/
Bawww =/ Better to have marched and drummed, than to have not....done that at all...
Manny is so skinny!
Lol, the one with the curly hair is now one of my band directors. Lolol.
lol I think he techd crossmen one year. bs if you ask me
