Sad to see Arthur in failing health here. It's a pity he didn't do more to take care of himself; he was only 66 when he passed!

Joan Crawford would've never gone out in public if she looked like that, and I respect her for that. It's good to have high standards. Fortunately for Davis, she never was held to as impossibly high a bar as Crawford when it came to beauty or glamour, for all the obvious reasons. I guess what they say is true, being gorgeous can ultimately be too huge a burden to bear for some people. It must've been quite refreshing and liberating for Davis to never have to worry about such things as beauty, glamour or class. Good for her!

Proper comedy

My first view of this interview. So very good. I love seeing how Mr. Collins has changed over the years, matured if you will. After listening to him for a long time (I heard 'The Lamb' album shortly after it had been released) I realize this is a thoughtful and complicated man. Clearly a stickler for quality and vastly creative, Phil Collins is a modest but avant-garde musical genius. He would blush at that but it is true. He was the heart of Genesis even with Peter Gabriel, yet set off on his own solo career which vastly shaped the music of the 1980s. Loved by millions, this hard-working icon deserves all his accolades.

Saw Black at the International Garden Festival in Liverpool on July 1st 1984. Wonderful Life was a hit in 1985. His death was tragic but the irony of him saying that the meaning of the song is that despite everything tomorrow is another day is heartbreaking given his life was so prematurely cut short. Comes across very well, not surprising so many turned out for the memorial service at the Anglican Cathedral. Thoughtful and insightful interview. RIP.

BD had lived all those years, had had a stroke, and had done countless interviews with the same question all the time... she was right to a smidgen peeved a few times. Wogan was not a very good interviwer.

What other pop chart at that time of futurism new romanticism post punk and new wave could have had all the magical production ingredients of Martin rushent vangelis trevor horn Andy hill? This was a fabulous time musically in the Uk dec '81 jan '82. Dollar's synth musical box dance style in 'Mirror Mirror' trevor horn created a really brill sound pallette on that song, to the Human league' dark irrisistable futurist noir of 'don't you want me' the innocent sounding 'Land of make believe' written by Pete sinfield as a serious attack on Margaret thatcher and her tory government who were doing land grabs at the time all sang at face value by clueless but lovely Buck's fizz. All of of the tunes were great and we were way ahead of everybody else at that time with no boring us adult contempory in sight that that entertainment usa person tried to cram down our tv's!! There were other great tunes in the top 100 at this time too such as Techno twins falling in love, Soft cell bedsitter, Duran duran my own way, Linx i can't help myself Toyah good morning universe and Modern romances fun ay ay ay ay moosey and more besides.
