(Seeing 00:00 & 27:00 made me think of this) So, I saw my buddy playing Burst:ReNewal a few days before final exams in uni recently. I'd played Senran before on Steam but maybe here or there for a few hours tops. That was back when I was pretty averse to trying new things out, especially fighting games. On that weekend I finished studying early, was super stressed out and saw B:RN was on sale for like $13 and said "screw it, let's give it a chance it looks better than I remember". Holy crap. I did NOT expect this series to be so... engrossing? Engaging? Heart-wrenching at times? Pure fun? With all the annoying competitive multiplayer games I had, there was no way I was going to stress myself out more before exams with those. Playing B:RN gave me that "Iyashikei"/"Healing" feeling, if you know what I mean. It was just... fun, and I found out more and more that the game was far past just eyecandy transformations. Before in my 2-4 hours with the series I liked Yagyuu, and when I gave it a shot again I decided not to skip any dialogue or any cutscenes. I was so happy with this decision, because I think I found a new favorite character in Hibari. Airheads are fun, but what I did NOT expect was this particular airhead to go through bouts of really terrible thoughts, have a lack of feeling like she belongs, and despite trying so hard she still screws up. The fact she was a *self-aware* dummy doing her best really, really drew me to her, because that's how I felt in my first years in STEM. I particularly loved that they gave some of the deepest questions to her. This whole "existential airhead" aesthetic really stuck with me as a juxtaposition of happy-go-lucky joy upon sight, and knowledge of deeper works inside. I attribute giving B:RN a shot and going through Hibari's story to raising my mood far enough to feel extremely confident on some of my most important tests, allowing me to ace one of my hardest semesters. For that, and for the nostalgic feeling I get from the series, I think I'm going to play them all and enjoy every moment. This series is awesome and wholesome, and I'll remember "I can do it if I try!"

Warning: This comment is best read with rage and hatred since it involves a tits-for-brains. (Yagyu called *her* that in Ninja Flash!) How do I even start with Katsuragi? The positives would be that she has the highest attack out of the Hanzo girls (not including Daidoji) as well as having themes that are too epic for her *character* . I like “Bring On the Powerful” @0:00 and “Anxious Blood” @3:00, but as I said: it’s too epic for her *character* . Any more positives? Hmmm… Katsuragi looks attractive, she has the largest bust out of the Hanzo elites if that’s what you’re into (wiki said she has the largest, not me), and she also said she can be romantic with guys. Yeah, fans of busty blondes would love her, but idk if that love would last due to her *character* . Anymore positives about her? She’s a good ninja, but more of a “Chaotic Good”. Anything else that’s positive about her? Well… that’s pretty much it. Let’s move onto the negatives. A friend of mine told me he’s convinced that Katsuragi is a man in a woman’s body and that she’s the perfect example of what the lustful audience would wanna be doing when they’re around these types of girls. It’s like Trevor Philips from GTA V existing because he represents the people who actually play GTA games and it’s in his character for him to steal a car, mow down a bunch of pedestrians, and idly/stroll down the street shooting people. Whereas Katsuragi’s case… it’s sexual harassment towards the same sex and I f**king hate her for that. She keeps targeting Asuka for groping while I’m just on the other side of the screen having the need to protect her by having Katsuragi on a headlock. Yup. I hate her just as much as the male protagonist of High School DxD. *Whispers* Don’t think I’m a hypocrite when I go to intimacy mode. You can grope any of them (which makes the player no different than Katsuragi), but there’s also an option to headpat them, to which I usually do. I’m gonna end it right here since I really don’t like her except for the positives that I mentioned above.😒

Preface: I wonder if it’s cheating that I place Asuka and Ikaruga as a tie in 1st place in terms of being the best girl from Hanzo Academy and OVERALL in the series. Moving on.😅 The eldest as well as being my preference of height for a woman (she’s the tallest out of the Hanzo girls, standing at 5’6/168cm), Ikaruga happens to be my personal favorite besides Asuka. Besides being tall, she has sleek black hair and sharp blue eyes, but not as sharp as Rin’s and is not as gentle-eyed as Ryoki.🖤👀💙 While it was a blessing that Ikaruga was able to be adopted by a family of high class, I felt bad for her not being accepted by everyone. (I’m looking at you, Murasame.)😔/😤 Like Asuka, Ikaruga also has a sense of humility as she doesn’t flaunt her wealth and isn’t selfish with it like how Yomi expected what rich people would be doing. That sense of humility is also backed up from the fact that she claimed Asuka to be the true leader of Hanzo’s elites rather than her.😁 I also don’t really get how some people think Ikaruga can be annoying by being virtuous and a bit uptight, but those traits may partly be the reason why she doesn’t leave the Top 10 in the popularity polls… and that she doesn’t tolerate Katsuragi’s behavior.😏 Lastly (I wish I could explain more), she’s just as much of a Yamato Nadeshiko as Yumi. It may be a smol example of why she’s a YN, but Ikaruga was able to cook Sweet Squid Ramen Roll, which is a combination of futomaki, ramen, squid, and sweets. It was in Asuka’s words: “…Better than I thought it was going to be.”😂➡️☺️🖤💙🤍🗡️ Oh yeah, as for the tracks, I really love the first 3 you put. I honestly didn’t know about “The Swallow Mask” until now. It sounds like the milder version of the regular “Flying Swallow Wakes” @5:00. Regardless of what my favorite tracks are, they all seem to capture Ikaruga’s elegance.😁🎶🎧

Oh, Asuka. At 5’1/155cm, she could be both adorable AND sexy, as well as an easy target for headpats (I’m 5’10/177.8 cm, so I can say that.😆) I admit that her popularity has kinda plummeted, but that’s only because the fans were drooling over Yumi.😒 (Don’t think I hate Yumi. I’ll save my explanation for her in another comment section of a video.😅) Well… let me be a traditionalist of SK and say: Asuka is *best girl* and she isn’t just the main protagonist of Hanzo Academy’s side… but she IS the overall main protagonist of the series.☝🏼 She’s very comparable to vanilla ice cream. The simplicity in her character is what I love most about her. Asuka is probably the only character in the games that I could relate to as well since she got the lowest possible passing grade on a shinobi test she took in Ninja Flash!.😂 I get that people would say she’s boring because she doesn’t really have a development, but there was one time where she took a dark turn in the second season of the anime. Seeing Asuka like that scared me so much… it made me wanna learn to love Yumi in case she’d be in that dark turn forever. I wonder if the fans felt relieved that she was back to who they called “boring”.😭 Overall, if Asuka was first designed to be how she was in Burst Re:Newal, it’s realistically gewd to keep her that way. Calling Asuka “boring” doesn’t do her justice. She’s a girl I really love that does full justice to her looks and heart.☺️❤️💛💚⚔️ Ramble: Man, I feel that I could talk forever about Asuka since she’s my favorite, but I gotta be asked a question to keep going, haha.😅😂 Oh yeah, as for the music… In The Name Of Justice @0:00, In My Grandpa’s Name @3:00, and Grandma’s True Intentions @15:00 seem to shout “protagonist” than anything ever.😁 Ramble: I wonder if I should do a cosplay as her with male clothes, playing the guitar part to those three tracks… Maybe show off some wakizashi skills as bonus passion and love for her character…🤔🙃

Passionate comment: It honestly didn’t feel that long since I’ve beaten Burst Re:Newal (I beat it in like mid to late 2021, haha), and my heart still hurts and sinks for this ost. (Like it’s not sad, but it’s more like terrifying)😵‍💫 Homura being forced to fight her possessed friends, slashing some sense into them, and the music… Oh-ho no… the music… Their respective themes being mashed into the regular version of “Burning Fury”.😨 …And don’t get me started on @11:00. I really thought I was gonna get my a$$ kicked/a game over from the way how Haruka fights. You just know that Haruka is a mommy when her possessed fighting style has MASSIVE area of effect attacks. I even like how her theme isn’t even a variation of “Burning Fury” at all, but definitely one that screams “Final Boss”. The track name “Controlled Puppeteer” seems waaay too fitting for her situation and it’s kind of ironic since she’s a puppeteer who turned into a puppet… being controlled by the Yoma/Orochi.🫢 Yup. These 5-6 tracks still gives me the heebie-jeebies to this day.😖 After that boss fight, I honestly felt much better about myself taking control of Homura and saving all her friends from the sacrifice they shouldn’t have participated in.😮‍💨 *Whispers* Thank you for listening to my TED Talk.😅😂

All of these make for a good livestream bgm, but there’s one track that I love the most from here. It’s “Renegades’ Hideout” @18:00.🎸 While it was such a groovy and chill track to hear after unlocking their story on SV, I felt like MARVELOUS! should’ve used this as the Crimson Squad’s Ninja Room theme AFTER Burst Re:Newal’s story mode. Maybe allowing us to switch the music to “Classmates” at anytime if we liked it better.🤔 I like “Classmates”, but “Renegades’ Hideout” suits the Crimson Squad much, MUCH better.^^ 🔴🐍

Idk why, but Past and Destiny @3:00 seems to get me right in the feels for both Hanzo and Hebijo (now Homura’s Crimson Squad). I personally prefer this track out of every sorrow and melancholic track the SK series has, but I think they’re all great only for their respective games. Past and Destiny however… I feel like it’s a track that should’ve stayed as a consistent track maybe for the rest of the games because it sounds THAT gewd to me.🥲👂🏼 Ramble: I get that the release of Burst Re:Newal was much later than SV, EV, and PBS, but BR:N is still canonically the first game in the series. Surely some of the music from there besides the characters could carry on to the next installments, but it unfortunately didn’t. *Plays Each and Everyone’s Past* 😭
