Never thrown a Sniper.. but I’d assume they’re close. Mix, RG Retro, etc.. harder urethane holds up extremely well. Compared to plastic.

When the pattern is on the tougher side. Hitting the pocket/keeping the pocket in play is sometimes difficult to do. Giving away the head pin, meaning throwing it right of the pocket and hoping it comes back. In tougher patterns, keeping a very tight and straight line is more beneficial. A ball like the Sublime Focus, because of how smooth it is.. is very good at keeping the pocket in play!

I’ll always recommend a IQ Tour, to just about anyone. It’s been a staple in the line, for years and years. Ion Pro is a few boards stronger and more overall hook. The IQ Tour is weaker and smoother, it’s also more predictable and controllable, for me anyway!

The Phaze 2 is.. Ion Pro isn’t.

I have it stronger, but just as continuous. It matches up to my game better than the Reality did for me.

I haven’t. I don’t use polish. I polished an Ion Pro.. wasn’t a fan.

I got both , ion max and ion pro . Tbh ion pro is the ball for you if you want tight angle. And the ion max jump alot when hit the breakpoints. Such a very strong ball . And ion pro 4x weaker

I think you have a pretty well rounded arsenal, a few more asyms than most. But pretty solid. Only thing I’d add would be a Phaze 2. Strong symmetric solids are always a must. Absolute Power is close strength wise, but they shape very differently. More coverstock on the Phaze 2 as well. I don’t any overlap in your current bag. The Phaze 2 would fit between your Ion Max and Absolute Power/Ion Pro.

I won’t be doing that comparison. For me, the Ion Max is way more versatile and stronger overall. Harsh Reality didn’t match up for me. Really early and really smooth. Ion Max fits my eye a lot better.

@@badknees82I have the Gem earlier and smoother. Ion Max is Gem strength, it’s more left to right than the Gem. It’s a really good addition to the line!

Great video. I recently changed to 14 lbs. looking to get 3 ball arsenal for league THS. Looking at Ion Max, Attention Star, n Lightning Blackout. Do u think this would be fine? Or should i add like a Summit Ascent? Thanks

IQ Tour Edition!

The PBA conducted tests and found the Pitch Black and other urethane balls on the market, were too soft for the PBA hardness rules. So, the IQ Tour 78/U was the replacement for the Pitch Black, on the PBA.

Excellent question! For a full roller, you have very little to no axis rotation. Which is why you’re a full roller. Do you but your hand all the way in or do you use half your thumb like Tom Smallwood?

Ruby his earlier and smoother. The Lightning is cleaner and more angular. In the progression, the Ruby would be used before the Lightning Blackout.

It’s a little more complex, when it comes to the thumb. Many variables. 1. It could be too tight or too loose. 2. Your thumb hole could be misshaped. No one has a perfectly round thumb, so round thumb holes shouldn’t exist.. 3. Could be a pitch thing. Either too much forward pitch or not enough. It could be just one thing, or maybe a little of everything. Best thing I could recommend, is going to your local pro shop and get fitted, and if they can’t drill ovals. Run for the hills. 🙃
