    I’ve been looking for a method to achieve this look and you really nailed it to my eyes. I absolutely love it. I know it would work with any color as the “”original paint” and I didn’t even consider a blue as that color but after seeing this I’m going with a similar blue. The contrast between the blue and the rust is nice and it looks like a blue that would’ve been used in the late 40s to 50s I think. Thanks for this. I’ve subscribed because I can’t wait to see more of your ideas

    Less is more... Beware of overdoing it... Best way is to go around the countryside, take photos of old cars with natural "decay"... Patina is never symmetrical on a vehicle... Left-hand drive differ from righthand, and so on... But Job well done, young man 👌🏻

    Man I’d love to get one of these restomodded and an older 5.9 without all the modern emissions crap seems like a great choice of engine. Though if I did win the lottery and subsequently lose my marbles this would be my prime candidate for a hellcat swap😈

    Great job! Looks very real and natural. Another guy I watched did the wet/wet approach, & he smeared (blended) it with a greasy shop glove. Looked amazing. Great work & im about to subscribe!

    Do you have to wait 30 days for rustoleum to dry before clear coating? And what satin clear coat are you using?

    I was looking for something like this. Most of the videos shows you how to fake patina from light colors to dark. You are showing it from dark to light. I have a 79 chevy van in dark blue. Im use your idea. Thanks

    That is absolutely an awesome machine I'd rather have that one than a brand new one and I think everybody is on the same page with me you get it running good and it's going to stay running good the new ones are going to fail because of computers and they build them out of plastic and composite

    Great minds think alike! I just did a finish like this on a vintage bicycle I just resto-modded. The bike was originally dark brown. I overlaid it with red-oxide primer then a light coat of satin black. let it dry then rubbed it down with a green 3M scrubbing pad in the places i wanted to show wear. The result is a lot more subtle than many fauxtina jobs, but far more convincing. Your Apache hood looks great brother, nice work!

    I love this process. I’ve watched it 20 times. I still can’t rap my head around what the water actually does?

    • @djscustoms
      @djscustoms 7 месяцев назад

      Thank you for watching! If you try it on a test piece you will definitely be able to tell. It blocks the paint from getting to the surface. Leaving whatever color is behind it in the small water drop size. Looks like when rust is just staring to break through fresh paint. Hope that helps.! Thanks again for watching

    I'm shortening my 66 c10 and I'm really considering a faux patina paint job on it. I built one car with really nice paint and I was just stressed all the time about it especially with my young kids around. I love this look and I want to not be afraid to drive my truck and enjoy it and let my kids hang all over it if they want. Thanks for sharing some great techniques!

    • @djscustoms

      @@djscustoms Well I've still got a lot of work ahead over this winter before I get to the paint. Either way, I want to get this thing back on the road by Spring/Summer to start making memories with my family.
