Wow, with the pir-hana prototype

When I got my PlayStation over 25 years ago, it came with a demo disc with a demo of Wipeout 2097 on it with a race on Gare d'Europa to Body in Motion. I came from the Nintendo 8-bit that basically didn't have any real racing games, and now I got this. The combination of supersonic hovercrafts, darkness, the thunderstorm and pounding futuristic soundtrack was unlike anything I had ever experienced and blew my mind. I'm not exaggerating when I say that it changed my life. Wipeout 2097 is my definition of Wipeout and I could personally NEVER place it anywhere below S tier.

Most of what you said in the video makes sense, but 2097 and 3 are S tier man. Replayabilty? Beating your best times is *crack*, and never gets old. One of my gaming's wet dreams is a remaster of those two. I adore all the games in the franchise, but they are the very best, especially in their 90s context. Absolute legends.

I got the PS3 version of HD Fury the other day (I don't have a PS4 and don't plan on buying one) and it blows my mind how good the game looks on that console. Games on PS3 often struggle to keep 1080p resolution and 60fps yet this game, which has better graphics than a lot of PS3 games that struggle, is maintaining 1080p 60fps without breaking a sweat. It's also a really fun game too. I love the track design, the weapons are fun to use, and the ships feel nice and snappy to control. Definitely worth the 13 dollars it cost to pick up, even if there's a better version out there (I ain't spending 200+ dollars just to play Omega Collection lol). I'm new to the series after playing BallisticNG finally convinced me to give Wipeout a shot. I always thought I wouldn't like it as much as F-Zero due to the slower speeds, but Wipeout's handling model is really fun to learn how to play with, and the sense of speed, while still not as high as F-Zero GX or Redout 2, is still there at higher classes. I've only played three of them, 3SE on an emulator, Pure on PSP, and HD Fury on PS3. 3SE feels almost identical to BallisticNG, or rather the other way around, so it feels fantastic. It's also just got an incredibly eclectic sense of style with its graphic design. That game has aged so well visually. I've already said what I wanted to about HD Fury. For Pure though, I kinda agree that the weird stop-and-start feeling is there. I also find the AI to be kinda cheap. Boost starts basically mean nothing because you will spend the first lap trying to catch up to them no matter what. The amount of speed you lose when getting hit by weapons is obnoxious too. It's definitely least favorite of the ones I've tried but it's still not bad necessarily, especially not for the 5 bucks I paid for it. I am gonna try to pick up Pulse though. Having what is essentially pre-HD Fury on something I can take to work to play on breaks sounds amazing.

Still looks really good on ps4 even with vr. Sad that there are only 3 missions and that they are ps only. Havent tried. But unlikely that im going to buy a psvr just for ace combat and project wingman

PS2 Pulse deserves recognition IMHO. It's got all the PSP dlc on disc, and about 150 extra challenges.

I really wish it were possible to play Zone Battle or Detonator on the 2048 tracks. I wonder if any glitch hunters can make it happen.

I believe the reason it doesn’t work is because the ships have separate stats for each speed class. To my understanding, a lot of the game’s internal logic is shared with WipEout Pure and WipEout Pulse, and I’ve seen the files of those two games.

I did it at Altima when I was trying to make a decent A+ challenge video. I thought I was seeing shit, because I could never catch them in sight for longer than a second

All WipEout games should deserve to get at least A tier, with WipEout 2097, 3, and HD and 2048 all in S TIER.

I remember in Pulse I was in the Top 10 on Moa Therma White with the Feisar ship. And everyone else was a Piranha player.

Through him, I could join some of the the Rolling Stones. For sure they'll join the online event, or maybe before . So far, Mad-Ice, Xtriko, Kingheim are in, il_NIK, Temet and stin probably... Kinda late to the party but, you can probably play the PSP games with PPSSPP emulator on your phone and use a good bluetooth controller (sony or xbox or whatever). this would allow you to play Pure and it's DLCs, and do it on the go, the way it was meant to be played!! you definitely should. the new ships and whacky art style of the new tracks are awesome!

Honestly, yeah I always enjoy the Prototype ships most, same with the last unlocks in 2097, 3 and Fusion. I want more WipEout racers like that 2097 Piranha honestly - more machines that focus on going fast and can't use weapons. If I were to ever make a racing game with weapons myself, I'd include some way to handicap yourself by not using them to gain a stats advantage. (This is also why my main in BallisticNG is the NX2000)

This is why I love the Pir-hana and FEISAR prototypes - when you master them both they are ABSURDLY powerful. I feel like I understand the FEISAR prototype better, but there's something to be said for this playstyle too! At several points both craft just TAKE OFF ENTIRELY!
