I recently made a deposit on an Emeya at Wearnes Thailand after my first visit to their showroom. Despite the showroom's low class and quality, I was impressed by the design and build of the Emeya. I am very disappointed with Wearnes Thailand. Lotus should not appoint such an unprofessional and unethical company as their sole dealer in Thailand. This is a modern take on the Russian “Ekranoplan” concept; interesting that they actually built a large - scale RC demonstration model (& not showing just a CGI fantasy). Regarding some of the other comments, once it clears the water, it should be able to fly high enough to clear heavier waves & most obstacles. I forget the exact numbers, but I think ground effects extend to something like 3 times the aircraft’s wingspan. Obviously, a full-scale version should have radar to detect potential obstacles well in advance. Also interesting that they’re promoting both civilian & military versions of it; the original Russian “Ekraoplan” (Google “Caspian Sea Monster” for more information) was conceived as a low - observable (flying well below the detection capability of most air radar warning systems) high - speed military landing craft; with electric power systems, it would also have a much lower IR signature than either jet or turboprop engines. It’s an interesting concept at any rate; if they actually get military funding for it, the development costs would be applicable to a civilian version as well.
