How we look at matchups in Smash Ultimate is something that not a lot of us talk about. With cast as large as this one, it's important to consider how we want to study, practice, and eventually evolve the game. Differentiations between character choice and player adaptability all comes together in this short video discussion :) This is my first official YT video! If anyone has any thoughts plea...

great video hope to see you at our local one day (:
I want to visit the Indian scene so bad, and originally had plans this summer before they fell through <3 another time I will definitely show up! WJKK WJKF
I love your content ! Hope we can meet again soon :)
Yamis! Miss you loads :) Hope you're still TODing people in France!!
0:14 since When can u Kara cancel into down b???
It's not a kara cancel! It's a traditional special cancel. When Shotos hit any hurtbox (An opponent, Shield, or even moves like Olimar's Pikmin or PacMan's Hydrant) with a special cancellable move (Like DSmash here!), they can cancel the endlag just after the hitpause into a special move. A Kara cancel only happens after you input DSmash, and before the DSmash's first active hitbox, cancel into a traditional special input (Hado,Shaku,Tatsu, or Shoryuken). U can NOT Kara cancel into Focus Attack, since it is not a unique input, but u special cancel into it. Hope this helps!
Great video, I honestly think local scenes are the heart of the smash community ❤ Love from the DDD kingdom of southern France
They absolutely are, and I wish we paid more attention to them instead of the big stuff. Majors are cool and I love them, but bringing some attention to stuff like this is what we really care about <3 Roi Dadidou!! Allez!
Wanting to be a contributing source for the Third Space is a major reason I have a passion for keeping Ignition going as long as possible even with it being exhausting (and often thankless) to set up and tear down as the streamer. Seeing people make connections, seeing players improve over the years seeing storylines play out - it's so much more enjoyable and fulfilling to me than actually competing.
BRUH XYLESS I MISS U SMMM WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?? Every Ignite I went to regularly it was always a blast to check in with you -- I know not many people are immediately drawn to that back, scary corner where you handle the production. Always was great to see you and you do so much for the scene that fosters so many high level players. Agreed 100% on the storylines. And you've seen so much more than I have too. So fun to see people put their passion and craft on the line and adapt in real time with little quirky interactions. Miss you, see you soon <3
@@ikan2192 I'm consistently happy any time you showed up, you're easily in the top tier of people who can brighten up a room just with your presence. Some day I really wanna make a video series or write-up on the different stories and eras of Chicago Smash - I feel like there's a lot of mostly lost history that's super interesting in the scene and it feels weird that I am one of the few left in the scene that's been around for Brawl through now.
@@XylessBrawl One of the kindest things anybody has ever said to me <3 thank you!! Your generosity goes beyond the production :) Yes! I think you should! There's so many stories and history in just the past 3 years in Ult I can't imagine what could happen with the past 10-12... That sounds SO great
The people I've met through Smash have helped me so much both inside and outside the game. I owe them a lot. Shoutouts to Porthos the Slayer ajd Ryo7a.
Met so many I wish I could keep up with all of them :( it's the little memories we need to remember
You cooked with this video
LOL sup kilo! Thank uuu they arent easy but they're so fun. comments like these really make it worth it, appreciate the kindness <3 shares and outreach go a long way~~
@ikan2192 our set at frostys was really fun, hopefully we get a chance to play again sometime!

The Washington DC scene means so much to me man. Going into my freshman year of college in 2021, our local scene was still reeling from the effects of COVID which meant that even the bigger venues such as The Cave and Xanadu Games were dealing with real financial hardships. It was really the younger generation of players and smash community members that revitalized the scene, especially through DC, Maryland, and Virginia’s colleges. We wouldnt have such a vibrant scene if not for the amazing TOs and players at colleges like UMD, George Washington University, and George Mason University. They put the scene on their backs with FREE tournaments in a time when bigger venues were struggling to keep their doors open, allowing people like me to make friends for life and share in the joy of competing and playing smash. I’m in my final year of college now but our locals have never had better attendance and our PR has never been more competitive. If anyone from the DC/DMV scene happens to see this, just know that Georgetown University is gonna fuck up the college crew battle bracket at Defend the District next month 🔥
This story feels so similar to mine, thank u so much for sharing! Post COVID a ton of new gen players (mostly college students) FLOODED Chicago smash. It was really incredible to experience it as the world was reopening and social interactions blossomed after being inside for a year. Go destroy that CB bracket!
For me, the day the great Ikan graced my local it was the greatest day of my life. For Ikan it was just wednesday. Always love to see you in norcal bud, come back soon!
Thank u so much Jett :) coming from a guy that's commentated events like Genesis, it's crazy to think that it really all starts at locals like Guildhouse. See you in December :) let's go climbing again!!
Remember that the local scene is built on the back of all those 0-2ers 😂
They 100% are :) we're just fans at the end of the day
You should make a video on the Chicago region ❤🙂
This video was kinda a love letter to all the regions I've competed in for an extended period of time (NorCal/Chicago/France), but I could definitely see myself doing a true video on some of the players that have influenced me the most in each region... would be a fun video topic!
awesome vid :)
Amazing stuff Ikan! keep it up :)
idk why this doesnt have more views, this is a great video
In time man, in time. We out here
locals are the life blood of the smash comunity and local TOs are the unsung heroes of the smash scene remember to thank and respect your TOs it can mean the world to them
Def could make a video on TOs... they give us the chance to show our newest 80% death combos :)
thank you ikan
I’ve met a handful of lifelong friends from locals and it has been my consistent “third space” for almost 9 years now
I agree fully. I actually think I'm responding to one of them right now ;O
Another fantastic video from you, good stuff!
Another ikan w
We dream of Majors, but what gets us practicing every day are the Locals
Truth
Dropping back in, and I want you to know, you did an amazing job of encapsulating your experiences and how scenes are different. Such a solid foundation too, as it's a great introduction to how local scenes have different cultures and playstyles, I find it fascinating as someone who has also travelled abroad. In my case, I got to experience the UK and the Australian scene, and it really resonates with me when you say that this IS a global game. Those pictures too man, just, isn't it wonderful to forge new friendships on the basis of that same common interest? Ones that blossom and emerge as life-long friends, I speak from experience when I say this. Keep up the amazing content, Ikan, you humble and cultured gentleman, I anticipate the next endeavour.
Kindest compliment I've gotten in a while <3333 thank u so much. compliments like these really make me want to push more content for all y'all... :)
A really great video! Local scenes are a great way to find people in any new place you might get into. I recently came back from a 2-month trip to London and I got to meet so many amazing people there, and as you said, the gameplay and their meta is completely different from what I am used to from my home region (Germany). So I can confirm both the social as well as the gameplay aspect you mentioned in the video :) Hope to welcome you in Germany or Europe again soon!!
AEGIII I miss u so much!! SO happy to hear that you got to enjoy your time in London <3 I hope to come back sometime in the near future, maybe 2025! You'll be the first to know!
Another benefit of local scenes is it makes it really easy to meet people if you're ever moving to a new area, since you can just meet people at your locals. Recently moved cross country to a new state and this definitely made it easier to adjust Plus, it gives you more people to cheer for at majors and regionals :)
Definitely agree with this! The game is global, and with that, so are the people that you can meet. I know I'll never be alone so long as there are a few people willing to play this game with me :)
Going to local tournaments is one of the most important things for me. I have met a ton of great people by going to tournaments and going to my first ever local was an expirience I'll never forget, it wasn't a big tournament but it taught me I am nowhere near as good as I thought I was, and ever since then I regularly went to our locals amd last year I went to my forst tournament out of the country which was regen 2023 which is where I met you, all of those expiriences inspired me to host a local tournament myself and I hope I get to do these more.
Locals really are a sociological phenomenom if you think about it. Thank you so much for all the love and appreciation in this video. In a scene as constantly growing as Smash there really can't be enough :D Keep up the great work Ikan! -Falcotuso

I'm a HUGE BRC fan, when that song got in the game I knew i had to put it in!! Shoutouts to wev
The algorithm is apparently spreading the good word. I'm not even a competitor, more a spectator, but the technical insight you provide in this video is fascinating for both. Beyond that, it's brilliant to see you on RUclips, I'd be certainly interested in also seeing your perspectives on different communities within the Smash scene, seeing as you have a breadth of travelling beneath your belt. Also, I am certain that match with Asimo is the foundation for some amazing content. Keep it up man, I dropped the sub, and am a big fan, both for your sportsmanship and handling of the sticks.
Definitely a top 5 fav set of all time I've ever played, and I appreciate the kind words! Still thinking about it all -- thanks for ur sweet comment! New video maybe sometime this weekend about something similar to what you have described:)
Great video
