My dad's family are from from the Yaquis. This represents the dance of the Venison. Venison was the main meat source for a lot of tribes, as it was, and still is plentiful. The dance is dedicated to the Venison for it's sacrifice of sustaining us. It mimics the last moments of the Venison's sacrifice. The first time I saw this monument, i got a lump in my throat. I recently saw a video of young People having a party in Mexico. They suddenly put their fingers on their head, like Venison horns, they started doing the dance of the Venison. Was moved by these young kids knowing the dance. It's so different in USA. In other countries, the Indeginous r much more part of the ppl in the community and their music and dancing and the ancient languages of the Americas r taught in schools. It's just noticably different.
