When it was owned by De Haviland this building was known as the ADMIN(Administration) building. It also contained a full working jet liner cockpit whit all controls to train the pilots. On the ROOF there should still be an Anti Aircraft gun mount from WW2, it did fire at an enemy plane which eventually came down further north. When it was later British Arespace the building was Lower floor for mangers silver Service canteen, and computer services. First floor above was the Sub-Contracts office depts. I worked there in the receiving/QA dept which was behind the station but now demolished. My mother was a cleaner in the sixties and went down the tunnels next to the hanger. They led to the company Hawker Siddley Dynamics and Rolls Royce Aero div the western area behind the station. HSD manufactured government secret builds. Rocket engines missiles etc. The Army with jeeps and guns also worked alongside the security teem, hence, nobody burgled the joint.

@@FAM171 Lots more. Eddie Chapman a WW2 double agent for UK and NAZI had to blow up the machine shop for the Nazis. Research, its interesting. Another occasion it was bombed with precise accuracy, some were killed. It turned out the Nazi bomber had served his parentship there before the war. Killing his own buddies. All this is documented. Research, fascinating stuff.
