The road to Alwinton had just been cleared so me & Bob headed to Kidland Forest for our usual 16 mile route. However, the snow was so deep we only managed 10 miles in 8 hours. We were the only ones in Kidland Forest that day 💪🏼💪🏼

Buena aventura 👍
Looks like it's melted, probably flapped against the stove?
@@johnmecrow7517 good call that. I’ve got a patch for it but probably looks better without it and it’s doing no harm 👍
@@cheviotoutdoors I only know cos I've done it myself haha
@@johnmecrow7517 🏕️
Bro who cares?
Thought I,d just mention, you don't need any tape when using repair sleeve I found that out when my pole went on my alto good video I just purchased BA copper spur ul 1.
@@michaelpenney3775 thanks for the advice Michael, hopefully I’ll never need to use the repair sleeve 🤞🏼 I did consider the Silver Spur 1 and it should have ample space in it. Enjoy your camps in it 🏕️
Great camp chaps👍
@@WildBorkysadventures cheers and thank you for watching 👍
what a performance, I can pitch my one men tent in less than 4 mins. why would anyone choose this bizarre method of shelter ?
For extra coverage, from sun or rain. Multiple layers drop the temperature underneath, when it is hot. The extra layer gives them.a respite from the rain to put their gear in, to stop it from getting wet/wetter.
@thefucrew9865 space for stashing gear under cover is a definite benefit, especially with the amount of rain this summer 👍
Nice one mate, great spot with good views well in the evening anyway lol 👍
@@thebackingpackinggeordie thanks Philip, it was a good night and very wet morning 😂 Thanks for watching
Thumbs up 👍🏻
@@papaspage2001 thank you 👍
Last time I walked up there I parked next to a car covered in police warning stickers. The stickers mentioned something about monitoring
@@davidjackson8829 we were the only ones in the car park on Friday. I think maybe the weather forecast had deterred people
@@cheviotoutdoors I think it is perfectly safe and legal to leave your car there. Perhaps it had been left for a long spell. Lovely spot. It’s a wilderness between there and Kielder.
@@davidjackson8829 yeah, I park there lots and it’s always ok 👌
Looked a great camp Dave, managed to get some decent weather 👍
@@thegeordiewildcamper yeah mate it was nice until 3am then lashed it down. Still enjoyed it though. Hope you’re back out in the hills soon 👍
@@cheviotoutdoors fingers crossed mate! We’ll get a camp in

Great little setup Dave. Would look good on Wimbledon Common! You want to tell those noisy neighbours to shut up next time 😅
@@pawlett1 lol cheers Graham, you should come on a camp some time 👍
@@cheviotoutdoors Would love to. All the gear is just sitting in the attic waiting for an adventure!

I haven't been out for 3 or 4 weeks now😢 work commitments. But I will endeavour to be out this weekend and you know I'm going to have to get out in the tarp n bivi, you and Adrian are making the appeal of it great! Enjoyed the vid ,thanks for sharing, see ya on them hills!
@@themountainmen9484 thanks for watching and commenting, much appreciated. Hope you get out next weekend in a tarp. The weather should hopefully be better than this weekend 🤞🏼
Magic! Glad your first strat camp was a good one and a great pitch with some good company, mint that man
Cheers mate and thanks for watching. Thoroughly enjoyed the camp 👍
Well Dave it wouldn't be a cheviot outdoors video without wind and rain 😂😂 I'm sat chilling in my shelter with a can of 1664 enjoying this video great setup Dave glad you enjoyed it you are terrible at the can challenge 😂 I was up there a few weeks ago fantastic view's atvb Jimmy 😎😎👍👍

@@LundysWildcampBushcraft haha looking forward to watching that 😂
A great camp Dave and I have to say I still think about getting a bivvy as they look a good shelter. I didn’t arve have a sweaty back off that steep hike up haha. Good lads, good craic and a good catch up. Look forward to the next one.
@@MarkOutdoors_ Cheers Mark was a good night out with a good company. Looking forward to seeing your drone footage 🏕️ Get that sweaty T-shirt in the wash 😂
Cracking vid again Dave , great views from up there , looked a nice set up you had , you definitely need to practice you BCC though 😝, thanks for sharing atb Deka 👌🏻💯

Hi Dave, well done, did you enjoy it ? Thanks for the mention, it’s definitely love it or loathe it, I just love the openness of it, Cheers Adrian
@@northumberlandmountainhopper it was great thanks Adrian. Shame about the rain but at least me and my gear stayed dry. I didn’t do breakfast as was cumbersome from the bivvy and was too wet to get outside. I’ll definitely do it again though.

do you not think being zipped in the hooped bivvy defeats the object a bit . unless your leaving the head end open for the views ? just a thought.paint some eyes on it for the womble affect 😂
@@thegeordiefellwalker8878 lol 😂 I think I’ll have the zip open especially as I’ve heard they can suffer from condensation if not ventilated 👍
I have the same combo, strat and stasha, used the strat a few times now and so far its been mint. I bought an omnisphehere as well, but I have yet to pitch it😮 i will eventually as it gives me an excuse to get out😂
@@themountainmen9484 did you get any condensation as I’ve heard people saying their sleeping bag gets damp in a bivvy? Thanks for watching 👍
@cheviotoutdoors no, I was very surprised as I used it in November on a camp that was in an air field and the wind was piercing, felt like -2⁰ so as you can imagine I had a 4 season bag and alot of layers as well as a top blanket, being on a 4 season mat brought me very closed to the bivi top, I was zipped up all night no condensation at all, the bottom vent was pegged out fairly high, I can't really say any other time as I've had the bug mesh zipped open so any warmth from my breathe would have gone straight out, I have yet to get in wet though, tarp is magic , dead strong, the lack of toe outs let it down a bit, but it's quality and durability is miint, I have a small dd superlight that has alot more toe outs so I may give that a go with the strat🤔
@@themountainmen9484 that’s good to hear you got no condensation. On my first pitch video I actually went to peg out the middle of the side but was surprised to see no peg point. Cheers for the information 👍
Hi Dave Looks like the tarp and bivy is taking off Hope to see you enjoy it as much as I do Cheers Adrian
@@northumberlandmountainhopper cheers Adrian, thoroughly enjoyed my first tarp and bivvy camp 👍
Hi Dave Tarp and bivy best suited to quiet camps in tucked away spots for peace and quiet ! Your group camps. Are probably more comfortable with the tent. But if you grow to love it then use it whenever !!! Cheers Adrian
@@northumberlandmountainhopper I’ve got a solo planned in a nice spot high up in the Coquet valley so will give it a go there. Still enjoyed it but I do like space to spread my gear out under cover 👍
@@cheviotoutdoorsperhaps one day we will bump into each other while out bivying ! Cheers
