U opined, claimed or suggested that LKY disliked pilots in Your other video. I would like to say that he had abused his power in the treatment of SIA pilots from the work to rule saga. Your dislike of pilots was obvious on most of your videos on SIA pilots. U had the audacity to back up your inflight supervisor’s lies to his captain that his entitled meal, his choice of the available first class lobster meal was reserved for a trainee (student) cabin crew who were not entitled to any first class food. U continued your rant that the captain demanded respect from the crew after such despicable lies. Which creature in the world can demand respect ? Why didn’t u just google what respect is ? criticism by your commenters against u You in some of your posts may b over bearing but u confessed that u disliked being criticised. Respectfully, didn’t u enjoy criticising others in your posts ?

To put things in perspective. U got zero idea about world premium airline pilot salary in the late 70s. u might know how high handed the late LKY wielded his power to cripple his critics. I was the researcher n pilots’ union executive councillor on SIA pilots salary, Flight time, including the collective agreement on all matters with the SIA management. I had worked out our salary worth then to b over 50% of the then salary we received for years. I managed to hold on to over 30% increase in our then salary n I was 1 of the negotiating team of 4 to negotiate with SIA management for months without success. The dead lock was on salary. JYM Pillay heading SIA was LkY’s boy then n I was not surprised that he had communicated with LKY of our steadfastness. Our work to rule (do no more than the minimum required by the rules of their contract or job) was legal s legislation then had not included air travel s a public transport which would make any strike illegal. Work to rule was outside the definition of a strike (refusal to work) which at that time was legal for any union. Perhaps with the blessings of LKY, SIA sacked 4 pilots on a flight exercising their right of work to rule. LKY cared not about ordinary citizen. He cared about his reputation. He must have nodded the sacking of the pilots n cared less if they would b jobless n had zero money to feed their families n loans. He neither cared if he had bankrupted any citizen who dared to speak out like dr chia Thye poh to b helplessly imprisoned without charge to b the longest serving (unjustly incarcerated) prisoner in the world. He could not charge any of the pilot union principal officers but he threatened to sack all n to reemploy new pilots to start a new airline. If he had embarked on this course of action, SIA would b a 3rd world airline today coz the salary then would have no takers n 1/2 past 6 n jobless dangerous pilots would join LKY’s new airlines to have more crashes, delayed or cancelled flights due to lack of pilots. By his threat u can assess by yourself if LKY really cared about the reputation of SIA then ? The pilots took his threat seriously coz we did not want more sg citizens’ families without income to leave their families high n dry, whom LKY couldn’t give a shit s his ego was sky high. LKY well knew he had overstepped his power n acted illegally n further illegal action of deregistering the union (SIA pilots’ association) claiming a secret ballot was required for the “work to rule” which was a blatant lie to the sg public. He went on to give public speeches lying through his teeth perhaps to pad up his ego about how he tamed the pilots. The sg public took hook, line n sinker from LKY n began to condemn the pilots. He then send the late president Devan nair to mend relations between the SIA management n the pilots. Devan knew what a tyrant was n he extended n olive branch to the pilots n we managed rightly to get n improvement of salary. After this saga, no strike action was allowed for sg air transport workers through legislation of which the PAP or LKY was able to do at the stroke of the pen. Captain Ryan goh who was 10 years my junior was unfairly deprived of his permanent residency n lost his job with SIA in his union representation of pilot’s welfare n wellbeing. I do not wish to criticise further. I May be the only ex SIA pilot with 3 law degrees from the uk n the above is my opinion. I will attend to your “Pilot fought over food and demanded respect” in your respective comment column.

Hi Luke nice video and entertaining too. I worked in a vaccination center during the height of the Covid pandemic. As most of the airline pilots and crew could not fly, they worked in the vaccination center. I will always remember the pilots/crew as very nice people. During down time, we would talk and the pilots came forth as smart and professional people - but they could be funny as well haha.

Okay this I disagree. The first case. It’s Not about how much one earns. It’s about lying and hierarchy. The IFS lied. Stewardess has priority over pilot ? Granted the pilot was petty to ransack to look for the meal, but how disappointing that the senior cabin crew lied. The pilot may have been petty but lacking in integrity and showing preferential treatment is worse. The 2nd case , regarding disrespect. Do you know what happens to a junior cabin crew if the crew does not show respect or greet the senior cabin crew ? 😂

In later years the second pilot in the story was sacked for molesting a stewardess
