Inspiring to hear about the Best Practices whitin some breed clubs in your country Germany. It is one of the ways to preserve authenticity within a breed. I had a little hope you would also name some Bad Practices because they must be there also. Since 2013 I'm a student of the Dobermann breed and very involved in a broad spectrum what is related with this breed. The Dobermann in relation to his stewards in Germany was and still is a very emotional topic. What would it be great to see on your video Barbara Thiel that the Dobermann Verein e.V. was also belonging to one of the Best Practices . I'm very curious about what you could share with me about your thoughts in preserving the Dobermann for the future. I'm glad for some other breeds who have a German community with more open minded thoughts.

This is, unfortunately, a real misrepresentation of this paper's findings. This study in fact found evidence of hybrid vigour in mixed breeds and concluded that purebred dogs were three times more likely to suffer genetic disease. Dr Jakkel owes the authors an apology.

Thank you in behalf of many purebred dogs to share their authenticity and how many are so different in type these days. Viera Staviarska I have respect for your lecture and you are very polite and positive about the changes we as dog and breed lovers can experience, day in day out. As a owner I dare to say that many changes didn't have much benefit for a breeds population as well the individual in it. As with everything in life it's about emotions and beauty and function of our beloved purebred breeds is in the eye of the beholder. This said I appreciate your talk and is worth the watch.

In my view as a Canine admire as well as a owner and student of the Dobermann breed I very much appreciate this lecture. Although I'm not a breeder I'll understand all what you Monica Merima shared in this video. You have insight in a broad spectrum of the world of dogs, these days as the past, and all who are involved with it. Not only this but also very aware of the complex matters of the 21th century as you also mention the growing heath and the huge pawprint our beloved dogs left at our planet. Thank you for your open minded vision and hope this lecture will be watched many times and shared with the public.

More people should know the truth of responsible dog breeding, it is worthy and necessary for the society and future generations will benefit of it. Dogs are key part of humanity and they will continue being but they deserve to be born in the best possible condition and with a purpose in our society. The genetic health tests available, every year more of them thanks to research and investment, the selective breeding, all the hard work and effort put in it by the good breeders , everything is worthy regardless of what certain organizations want to make people believe . good video.. I try to keep the coi of my dogs low as possible, and I test for diseases with mydogdna.com, that is how you should breed. All dogs carry diseases, purebred (high coi) or mixed (low coi), the trick is to ensure that carriers do not meet. Because purebred dogs have high coi, there is a higher chance that carrier will meet, making them therefore a bigger risk to breed. Somehow you left that out. :) good propaganda.

You turn the data upside down/. How is that possible? The thing is that purebred dogs are almost three times more like to be affected with the disease because they're homozygous for it, while the mixed breeds are heterozygous.

It's appaling that you are skewing this perfectly good study to make it say the opposite of what it actually says.
