Thank you for producing tutorials that are clear and concise!
Question, what if on the model space we're working on two floor plans and we only want to see one of them in a viewport and the other one in the other viewport?
Hello Faith, While the viewport is active (double-click inside the viewport), PAN (push middle mouse wheel down like a button) the screen to the parts of the drawing you want to see
Chris Dennis Thanks for answering my question! Look forward to watching more of your vids :)
thank you for this tutorial, this was easy to understood. also love that when you click something you zoom in so that we can see it too.
how to import all my drawing in one drawing file and show it on the sheet tab?
You can copy and paste other drawings into one drawing file. I like the command COPYBASE (type this on the command line then <enter), pick a base point, select objects and then go the other drawing file and PASTE. Hope that helps. Let me know if that works for you
@@chrisdennis3944 thanks I appreciate it.
EMBRACE THE RIBBON!
This is a life saver for complex drawings
Glad you found it helpful
Thanks.
Viewport is an amazing command. It's very useful for scaling objects.

ICON IMAGE SHOWING instead of PICTURE - I have had this problem on my end and through trial and error I have found 2 work around solutions. Solution 1 - Open the .jpeg file in sometype of program such as Paint or Photoshop or similar. Save the file as a .bmp instead of a .jpeg. Then try the INSERTOBJ command in Autocad and grab the .bmp. (make sure "display as an icon" is unchecked!) Solution 2 - Again I opened the .jpeg file in Paint or you could use a MS photo viewer or similiar and find a way to CTRL +C (COPY) the image. I then went to Autocad and did CTRL+V (PASTE). (Forget the INSERTOBJ command.) Please like or comment if this alternate solution works for you or if you have found another way.
thanksss that was really helpfulllll
This video was sooooooo helpful! and professionally done! love the little facetime box in the corner. Nicely done!
Thanks Chris Dennis.... :)
perfect thank you
thanks good luck
Your tutorial is one of the better I've come across. Now for a challenge. I'm considered a novice at this but I'm trying to redraw old drawings for a 1940's house I own. It's three stories and each drawing seems to be slightly different in scale. So, my first task is to make each drawing to scale so that I can start the layers of floors.
Thank you so very much.
Interesting

I have different drawing files in different locations. Can I do the same thing and just browse for my files to publish them?
Hi Pamela, You may want to research "sheet sets" to solve that problem
I don't have Design Centre File
thank somuch
Awesome!
Thank you so much!
chris - i finally got it to work. I don't even know how. but i gave the right hand column a file name and saved it. didn't make any difference. then, out of frustration that i had lost all my other autocad panels (in the worksheet, or whatever you call it when you're not in CUI), i picked drafting and annotation (it had previously been my workspace name), when that came up, i picked my custom tab, and there everything was. i think it will be a cold day in hell before i mess with it again. but thanks for your help.
I'm glad you got it to work. It's hard for me to know exactly what happened on your computer without being there. In any event, it's working now so that's good.
I just can't get it to work. I export fine. and i can import to the left column, and the ribbon is correct. but I cannot get it to do what you did. i drag the workspace over, but when i check it, the ribbon hasn't been modified. i can't seem to get it to bring the entire workspace over, or if it does, it won't recognize it. any thoughts ?
I did what you said (at least I think I did). but when i went to a new page, none of the information i had set up and named was there (i was still using the model tab). in the plotter there was no named setup. when i right clicked on the model tab, it wasn't there either, and i had to start all over.
I found your instructions difficult to follow. You move too quickly. In the beginning you talk about transferring the CUIX file using cuiexport. Then the box comes up and you type in some filename or address, don't say where it is going, just execute it. What's the hurry ?
When saving it, you first navigate to where you want to save it. Then type in the filename that you want to call it. That's up to you.
Thanks!
Nice!
I used autodesktop 2007. When I type MSLTSCALE my version doesn't recognized this command. I need to work with dashes lines. Please advise. Thanks Jimmy.
Hi Jimmy, I don't think Autocad 2007 has the ability to do "annotative dimensioning". You will have to scale your linetypes by using the LTSCALE command. For instance, if you are drawing a large plan such as a house plan, you will need to type LTSCALE <enter> 24 <enter> and then REGENALL. In paper space set your PSLTSCALE<enter> 0<enter> (instead of 1) . Let me know if this works for you.
don't forget to REGENALL after PSLTSCALE also.
great
