It was great until the dealership ran it out of oil during an oil change.

The one thing you have to remember about the Pioneer is to keep it in turf mode high when you are cruising. If the trail gets a little bad, use 2wd lock and when needed use 4x4. The 4x4 lock is for situations you shouldn't be in. The only time to use low is going slow in 4x4 or locked. I hope this helps! To be honest, I don't use the red dot. Some people find it useful.

They don't have full doors because they can sell them separately for an insane markup

The three are the perfect machines for someone who only ever has 2 riders and some equipment. The 5 is definitely more bang for your buck if you plan on having 3 to 4 riders. The model lineup is fantastic. You just need to decide what you prefer for people hauling.

No, life threw some curve balls at me, and I ended up traveling in a camper for a year with my family.

The transmission will get quieter after your first oil change. It's a honda, so you shouldn't be worried. They have the same dependability and reliability just keep up with the oil changes.

Depending on the winch mount the winch is sometimes mounted upside down.

That's fantastic and expensive, hahaha. My only advice to you would be get a good cleaning kit. Make sure you clean everything and lightly lubricate all moving parts.

I had it in for routine oil change under the maintenance package, and they put an inexperienced guy on it who didn't tighten the oil plug and nobody checked his work. Later that evening my wife and I jumped in it for a short ride when it lost all oil and was toast.

Nope, I made them take the blame for it because I had evidence. As soon as the Pioneer started acting up I started to record everything, when I got it to stop I recorded the oil pissing out of the spot where the oil plug should be. It was determined they did not torque it to spec and they had to buy the machine back at what I owed. I haven't gotten anything else because I've been traveling the US for the last 4 months with my family.
