Scott, have you seen the horrific weather that the nexrads create? This is the weather you've been seeing for the last 20 years. There is scalar weaponized weather, nexrads, electrification of the clouds - ALL are force multipliers. Ionospheric heaters. The list of man made weather is endless.

Does GDL52 work with ForeFlight yet?

Good video! With regard to the distance limitation for Metars on ADSB, I have experienced lack of small-airport data on ADSB from as little as 200 nm out. In other words, the non-class B airports have not shown up until I am within 200 nm. On a long cross country in a reasonably fast airplane, this can be problematic, as it provides little opportunity to track the Metar trend against the TAF forecast, particularly when the destination airport is not immediately adjacent to a reported, class B airport. For this reason, I have maintained both ADSB and Sirius XM (basic subscription) weather in my aircraft.

Worse than useless. I do not understand the attachment to videos. Why not a written reference that one can study and refer to as necessary? I have around 3K hours flying across the country with XM data link on my 696. The video gave me only a description of what I do not have nor how to get it. This in spite of 15 years of XM subscription and twice needing to pay $600 to get my dead 696 replaced.

Do you have to have a Garmin Pilot subscription in order to switch music SirusXM music channels? I don't have a subscription to GP and I can no longer pull up channels saved to my favorites. Or, any other channel, either.

As a former CFI, I emphasized to students the one constant in aviation that will make a pilot a good pilot is to always remain teachable. I just saw this video, obviously about a year after it was posted on RUclips but I gotta say, I just learned a whole bunch about known icing conditions that I probably thought I knew but now really appreciate especially because of how awesome this presentation was. Great job and thank you for the lesson. I wish all pilots would watch this.

Just be aware that right now, SiriusXM is not getting and displaying fire and security TFRs. I've moved to Aviator Light until this gets fixed. XMWeather says that this is due to errors in the FAA database they are using. However, other sources such as SkyVector appear to be displaying TFRs correctly.

Scott has a unique way of incorporating his experience as a former NWS meteorologist and an active pilot and CFI. As with all of Scott's programs, I learned from his relevant information.

Does the gdl 52 support ForeFlight?

So, if I already have SiriusXM in my plane and add the GDL 52 so I can also get weather on my Android Pad, do I need to pay for another XM service??? Pay twice for the same service in one airplane?
