Subscribe for video game and tabletop reviews. My goal is to provide reviews that showcase my honest opinions, yet also give the viewer enough information about a game to understand why I feel the way I do, so that they may make an informed decision even when they don't share my opinion. I will always try to be critical of games I enjoy and praise games I don't in areas that they've earned such, showcasing the good and bad alike.

Nerdy Fanaticism: Why Negative Reviews Are Important
im here because of reddit
Thanks for making the trip; I hope the video was worth your time.
I completely missed that Cave Story Secret Santa released and not even that long ago. Great review, as always.
Thank you, and I hope you have fun with the game even if it is rather short and simple!
Ah spikes, the weakness to robots. Kinda funny that my first ever fan character that I made for anything was back when I was like in 3rd grade and made a classic megaman fan robot called Spike Man
Any chance a game gives me to reference Mega Man, I'll probably take it!
That score hurt! Haha, that said, Im not a fan of FPS games either
Yeah, those who are will probably enjoy it more.
There are so many similar games that do it better or faster. DNGN for example actually has a cute story AND random dungeon layout. Takes about as much time. Heroes of Tenefyr adds deckbuilding and has more depth than STH. One Deck Dungeon has better puzzles. And is roguelite. Mini Rogue plays faster. The Phantom the Card game has story and rogue lite. STH is.... meat nor fish.
I have to admit, I've not actually tried any of those- though I've wanted to give One Deck Dungeon a try for a while now.
@@AdamTheFanatic that's normal for content creators. You're producing content, actual interest only would slow things down 🙂
@@kosterix123 It is literally impossible for someone to play every game out there; let alone play them with enough focus to do a proper video on them. I have to pick and choose where to focus my efforts, I can only play so many games.
@@AdamTheFanatic that's true for everyone.
@@kosterix123 Exactly.
Thanks for this Review of the Whole NES Series ..
You're welcome, glad you enjoyed it!
@@AdamTheFanatic It was very useful for me Since I didn't want to see Each Review But Instead have a Big Picture.... Also I am Learning English . Greetings from PERU amigo
Man, I love this game. The ludo narative synchronicity is strong with this one
Agreed; while it's hardly a story-driven game, they did an excellent job of matching the mechanics to their theme.
Cookies represent HP? Now that's my kind of game! Imagine how much health I'd have on Cookie clicker...
You could get through I Wanna Be the Guy with that many lives!
Hell yeah, nice review
It does almost look like watching the cartoon. I was wondering where Anjelica was at. I can see her as the final boss no problem.
Her mom probably let her watch The Godfather again.
I don't know about the other two, but Playground supports VR
Tabletop Simulator does, but I don't think Tabletopia can.
Hey, I've looked online which lead me here, I've noticed many, many people have found that they only have 51/54 event cards and 14/15 vile champion cards, I wonder if you do as well. If so then I guess it's just a mistake in the rule books component list.
I'd honestly forgotten about this, but I did check it when I first got the game; but yes, it seems to be a mistake with the rulebook.
wow this game sounds very overly complicated. lol
=P
Thank you for this video. So as a creator, Tabletopia would be the only one where it is free for my playtesters to try my game (ie, they dont have to buy software). I think this tips the scale for me. Though I would personally be fine buying software as the creator, I don't want to make all my playtesters pay.
Thank you, I consider comments like this to be the highest form of compliment I can receive; helping someone find the game that fits them best- even when that choice isn't the one that's best for me- that's what I strive for as a reviewer.
Thanks for the rules overview of the game, even if this is 3 months before the campaign dropped (it went live in September 2024). As for my thoughts, I think they are mixed right now. Rolling dice and completing challenges for the entire game doesn't excite me as much as if it was worker placement instead, and each game can have its swingy moments depending on how the dice roll for you (if you get good rolls, you have an easier them winning. If they don't, you might end up losing.) Since you said its suppose to target families, especially on a theme most people in the USA should know by this point (Avatar TLA finished its run in 2008, but you still see whatever released for it long after its run was done), maybe its where it lacks some depth for me. Basically, I'm just saying is if I do play a game, I like to have something more than roll dice for 50% of the game and gambling my luck on it, but if you have children you want to try it with or love the Avatar TLA series in general, go ahead and get it. For now, I think this game is on the backburner for me.
I understand if dice manipulation isn't your cup of tea, but I do think you're underestimating how much control you have over the game; it might not as much control as something like Roll for the Galaxy, but it does give you a bit more control than something like Cubitos or Quarriors, and even those have a lot more to them than "chuck the dice and hope you get what you want".
@@AdamTheFanatic I forgot the points of the free reroll and discarding cards to reroll twice per turn, and choosing what dice gets reroll. I don't know if any rules changed on it recently (I might have remember that when you reroll, all dice must be reroll now), but if its still try, maybe I should give the TTS a try one day then. Thanks for the note.
Bah those ugly big black borders on the cards... I like Dominion but the card design is very outdated. To me / us, this is the biggest lackluster hence Dominion never goes to the table.
Huh; I've played a lot of tabletop games and I've honestly never thought about whether or not they have borders. Just checked some of my favorites and about half of them seem to.
@@AdamTheFanatic Each to his / her own.
You can't really change it is the problem, how could you play with two different card styles if you want to mix expansions?
@@nandoPluister You could change the fronts as long as the backs are consistent. Some TCGs even have "full art" cards as rare pulls, and these are sometimes borderless.
I would be interested in seeing your take on AI War 2.
I have the base game on Steam, but I've yet to have the time to give it a try. Definitely on my to-do list though!
Wow you give this game a great review same here I thought that this game was addictive right from the get go when I bought it in 1998 for windows 98 that is
It definitely was ahead of its time in a lot of ways.
I was enjoying this but why the did you keep defocusing the screen? It was annoying as hell.
I did this to focus attention on the parts of the UI pertaining to the resources I was talking about at the respective times.
Great video! Thanks!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for this review- I've been on a huge power fantasy itch recently and it's a shame that it seems like this game only fulfills that visually... If they balance it to avoid that whole hit and run vibe it can be pretty swell.
What do you play on? I might be able to make suggestions.
@@AdamTheFanatic I play on PC! I would love some suggestions, thank you.
@@pancakes4193 If you're specifically looking for something where you play as a kaiju, Octogeddon is pretty fun; it's an action Roguelite made by the same lead designer behind Insaniquarium and Plants Versus Zombies, and it definitely carries the same kind of humor as both of those games. If you're more looking for the concept of being able to crush armies effortlessly, most of the Warriors/Musou games would work well; there's a fair number of games in the series on Steam these days, but Dynasty Warriors 7: Definitive Edition- not a sequel, each game in the DW series tells the same story in a different way- or Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate Definitive Edition would be a great choice; this one IS a sequel, but honestly the story is not a selling point of the Orochi series, instead they involve time shenanigans so that they can involve characters from Dynasty Warriors, Samurai Warriors, and occasionally other series too. Both of these titles include almost all of their DLC, minus so costumes that involved limited time licensing deals they no longer have access to.
@@AdamTheFanatic I saw Octogeddon before but it didn't quite hit right in terms of "power fantasy" since the opponents weren't exactly armies/people, but I'm amazed it was made by the same people as Insaniquarium and PvZ! I'm quite new to the Musou genre as well, but I definitely have Warriors Orochi 3 on my wishlist now. Do you perhaps have any further recommendations? My definition of power fantasy is pretty broad- pretty much anything that allows me to wreak havoc on entire swathes of enemies is great.
@@pancakes4193 RTS games with super weapons can certainly feel like that once you get them going- such as Command and Conquer (specifically Red Alert 2, Red Alert 3, Generals, and Tiberium Wars) has a similar feeling for me, but that might not be quite the same for you. For super weapons specifically, Tiberium Wars is probably the best pick, as each faction not only has a super weapon, but the expansion (Kane's Wrath) also adds a super unit to each of them which does a pretty good job of levelling lesser armies. On the subject of RTS games with super units, Warlords: Battlecry III is an interesting one; it's a hybrid of RTS and looter RPG. If you build your hero as a melee bulwark, it's possible to get them to the point where they can solo entire armies with minimal focus on your own base, though it does take work to get them to that point. Undefeated is a free game on Steam, and while it's fairly light on content, it's been described as "what Superman 64 should have been", and I feel that's a pretty fair assessment; they're apparently making a sequel that's supposed to be a full game, though the ETA for that isn't until 2026. Still, the first one should be worth checking out at least.
The X5 mod is done really well. You should give it a try
Which one?
Duff McWhalen/Tidal Whale is actually a remix to Bubble Crab's Stage* not Crush Crawfish. Otherwise great video
Thank you for the correction, I'll go ahead and pin this so others can see this!
I’m just about to start this myself, it isn’t my favorite but I don’t overally hate it
That seems to be more or less the average opinion on it. When you say "start this myself", do you mean playing X5 specifically or are you planning to go through the series and review it as well?
@@AdamTheFanatic I’m currently running for hunter medals, just got to X5, no reviews haha.
@@Simonpup12-vi5tp Ah, I got all the ones for X5, but I kind of doubt I'll be doing it for the rest of the collection. I REALLY don't want to dedicate that much time to X7...
@@AdamTheFanatic I actually don’t hate X8…..or X8 Guilty pleasures with those 2 X7 NG plus is a blast 💥
@@Simonpup12-vi5tp X8 I don't mind, but X6 and X7 I'm dreading revisiting. But Battle Network 1 will be before X6.
I've never played Adventures, but 100% agreed on Allies/Menagerie/Renaissance, they are PHENOMENAL. I love second edition of Hinterlands as well, it's rather vanilla, but that's why I love it.
Yeah, there's certainly nothing inherently wrong with more of the same, but I really like some of the new mechanics they introduced along the way.
Heck yeah! Loved these games as a kid. Weekend rental availability dream find
RIP Blockbuster and many more. ;-;
Thank you. I love Avatar so much and your conclusion tells me I may need to get this. Did you see the Netflix Avatar live action Season 2 teaser with Toph? So awesome.
I need to get back to watching the Netflix version; last we watched (watching with my sister), we had just finished the Omashu arc.
This game is still good.
A true classic.
How does this compare to Aangs Destiny the cooperative deck builder?
I haven't played Aang's Destiny yet, but I do know it's based off of Harry Potter: Hogwarts Batttle; I did a review of Toy Story: Obstacles and Adventures which is built upon the same system. Mind you, this is based purely off my experience with the Toy Story game, but assuming it lines up closely with it (I'm sure there's SOME differences between the three- I know Obstacles and Adventures uses some features that were part of an expansion for Hogwarts Battle), then it's a fun system, but thematically doesn't align as well with the source material.
Thank you for this thoughtful review, like your pacing and writing. Look forward to seeing your back catalog!
Thanks! If you're looking for deckbuilders in particular, I recommend starting with the videos on Dominion and/or Star Realms. On the other hand, if you're looking for more anime-themed games, then AEGIS and Millennium Blades are great choices!
@@AdamTheFanatic As many times as you have referenced Dominion, I'm definitely going to give that a look. It's been a while since I've been into CG and TT and your channel is full of fun stuff I've never had a chance to try before!
Good review! You should also do review of ROOT the board game!
Thanks; unfortunately I've not tried Root yet, but who knows what the future may bring?
Now you can cover the newest expansion that dropped last week
Already did; it was last week's video! ruclips.net/video/Vme8s6NxoDo/видео.html
stance on ufo 50 which is releasing in 2 weeks and is going to be basically the same thing as this but higher quality and also theres 50 games
It certainly looks interesting, though I can't really say anything more until I've had a chance to play it.
I would kill for this game to be remade with today's capabilities, get fleshed out a little more... its the only game I'd play
I've actually named it more than once when people ask what games deserve remakes!
I like Beer & Bread, a 2 player game. Sobek 2 is another great 2 player game, and Bruno Cathala is involved in the game design. Thanks for your review, Adam! I have 7 Wonders Duel and one Expansion set Which is like a game within a game. I only just started playing Splendor Duel on Board Game Arena and really enjoy it, too! I feel like 7 Wonders Duel is a bit heavier of a game.
I've not tried either of those, but looking up Sobek it reminds me a little of Jaipur? Which 7 Wonders expansion do you have, Pantheon or Agora? I've played with the former a bit, but haven't had the chance to pick up either- I really should get around to that.
Nintendo = Water; Fan Games = Sodium Metal
Yeah, Nintendo has been a lot stricter about fangames the past several years, and it's honestly sad to see. There's some truly great fan creations out there.
Be carefull sending cards in to fanatics they so called lost 27 cards i paid to have removed from the vault . I have proof of the emails and thier dismall offer to replace them at half what i paid for them in the weekly auction.
I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about; what vault, and what weekly auction? I do sometimes list stuff on eBay, but none of my recent items have been card games. Are you confusing me with someone else that has "Fanatic" in their name?
I played this game in middle school and about a year ago, discovered it was still being printed. I really like it as an alternative to some of the TCG's out there with darker themes. Thanks for reviewing Redemption.
It tends to publish new sets slower than most other card games, but it's still chugging along!
Thanks for the great review! Appropriate T-shirt :D
Thank you, I always try to match them as best I can. Sometimes I have to be kind of fuzzy with it, but times like this are a lot easier. Thank you for making this very unique title and giving me the opportunity to review it, it's been a blast!
Jesus card should be an automatic win
This is a mysteriously mechanically solid and long lasting tcg that I have never heard of. Neat. I may need to check it out.
Catcus doesn't have the advertising budget of the big names, but they have a loyal fanbase that's kept the game going!
Looks fun, thought this was a mobile game at first
Nah, the only phone-exclusive game I've reviewed thus far has been Super Mario Run (though I have reviewed some that are on phones, and some that are on portable consoles).
Back when I first got this from Kickstarter and it actually came in the mail we have been waiting to play it. Really just a matter of finding a good time for a group to get together to learn a new game. And then we forgot. Now we're trying to get back together and do another game and project eos rise is still in the plastic we started looking for videos a while back and all we could find were videos on the pre-released version of the game thank you so much for taking the time to making a finished product demo.
Glad I could help! That does remind me, I should really move my preview video to unlisted.
Did you put my gun back?
Yes ma'am, I put it in the locker and stored the bullets in a separate location.
@@AdamTheFanatic I have trained you well young Jedi.

Fantastic teach! Better than I do it :). Appreciate the review, Adam!
Thank you for the opportunity! And you say that, but there were honestly a few parts where I made mistakes, some bigger than others. I corrected what I could with text in the video, but honestly I felt like I made more here than usual.
@@AdamTheFanatic Both things can be true! Seriously, you made playing the game sound exactly as easy as it is. And I have struggled with that to this day.
Enjoyed this! Well done! Love the shirt too haha, Jesus is Lord!!
Thank you; I always try to find something that matches the theme to some degree, though sometimes I stretch it. In this case, my thought process was "Who has dominion over all?".
I backed License to Krill and am very much looking forward to receiving it! I very much enjoy light weight silly card games like Don’t Poop on my Lawn, Poo, Bohnanza, Lord of the Fries, Chez Geek, Sushi Go and more!
I recently did a comparison of Sushi Go to Sushi Roll, I enjoy both of them quite a bit. Bohananza on the other hand, not my cup of tea.
it's fun and fast, but there is not much meat around the bone. it seems like your best options seem to mostly play worlds and Explore for more dices and cards...
Hard disagree on that front; it varies depending on which tiles everyone gets, but there's definitely games where developments or trading win out instead.
@@AdamTheFanatic it seems to me like it's the kind of game where the one who can end it first win by playing their 12 tiles. there doesn't seem to be much strategy to it. maybe i should try Race for the Galaxy...
@@moontan91 I never actually played the original, so I can't comment on how it compares to Roll. But while a rush strategy will sometimes win, it's far from a sure thing.
@@AdamTheFanatic i think the game is way too short. Victory points seem to hardly matter at all. the game is over before they even matter...
I managed to get a really good deal on both Legends and Legends 2 a few years ago. Good enough that I couldn't pass up immediately buying it. Both Complete with Manual and near flawless discs. Unfortunately I have never managed to find a physical copy of the Misadventure's of Tron Bonn. Aside from $600+ copies on Ebay in varying states between complete and beat up disk in a sleeve. Capcom will forever have my Ire because of the Legends 3 fiasco. Not because the game never came out, but because they never followed through with their promise to release the prologue. That prologue was supposed to be used to guage potential sales, and was to be the deciding factor on weather or not to greenlight the complete game. Inafune's falling out with Capcom contributed to all of this of course, but it was less his departure, and more how and why he departed that was the issue, they were pushing him into a position he did not want that was going to take him away from the creative side of the business, and he decided to essentially quit on the spot, but would stay to see the project through to completion. In turn, Capcom, in quite possibly the most petty of moves canceled not only Legends 3, but every single project that was in production that had any relation to the Megaman franchise as a whole. Capcom EU's social Media manager did make the statement that "It was a shame the community wasn't more involved" but that message was pulled down shortly after and iirc an apology was issued. Inafune's studio comcept didn't fare too well, and was acquired by Level-5
Yeah, I was REALLY sore about how they handled the whole Legends 3 debacle. Most of my thoughts would just be repeating what you said about it, but the part about the community not being involved still stings to this day.
@@AdamTheFanatic Yea, that rogue claim from CapcomEU's twitter account was uncalled for. Since then, I try to avoid giving capcom my money, only exceptions being I have bought most of the Megaman Collections, because I vote with my wallet and the only way to really tell capcom that there is continued interest in Megaman is to spend money on Megaman. And I also buy the Monster Hunter games because theres no other company making a game that quite scratches that itch.
Great review, and thanks for bringing the game to my attention! Very informative video with some helpful tips. It probably felt bad having to give it a low score, but I might've scored it far lower had I played it and been unable to finish the game after getting all the way to the end.
Yeah, it was a major disappointment. I do hope they fix the bugs over time, because it could be a solid 7 or 8 if they worked out the kinks.
