No mods to the board other than lubing the stabs. I had issues with the space bar in this video and ended up going with a different tactile switch for the next video. Otherwise, the board itself is stock. Literally took it out of the box, did stabs, threw switches in and went for it. I like to let the switch speak for itself most of the time, ya know? Like...not everyone does the same mods or even knows how. Do you have this board? Hows your experience been?

I reallly like these with silent switches, too! Absolute office lifesaver!

I typed a long replay and then somehow logged off. Lol So, first suggestion is to try a different switch in your spacebar. I have a Cherry MX Black (lubed and filmed) in mine now and have done a little work centering the plate and pcb. I tried a new set of keycaps and that didn't hurt either. That said, I usually flip my spacebar so this was extra frustrating for me as it DEFINITELY hit at first. Does your box say "Sumreda" anywhere on the front? You may have gotten the same production model I did. Feel free to take some photos (maybe one with the spacebar on and one with it off) and shoot them to me on instagram or dm or discord and I can take a look and see if can offer suggestions. @@StillthatguyJake i did get the Sumreda one too. Turns out there was only one flaw and that spacebar area on the PCB seems to have little to no reinforcement to hold the weight of the spacebar. What i did (which i found out) is to use the plate foam and put it under the socket so that it gives it that extra support for the weight of the spacebar. I think that area is the weakest part of the board

@@johnle1723 There were definitely issues with the pate and the stability. That's part of the reason I tried things like long pole, heavier switches. It's my understanding that the models we received had poor quality control and were "pre-production" to the best of my knowledge. A streamer shared a couple of documents with me on Reddit about it. @@StillthatguyJake okay i have found the issue. The space bar hot swap socket is very loose hence its causing the sagging. So shimmy a thick foam to create tightness on those pins

The AL65 is a fantastic board if you can get it at a good price (Under $75-80 USD). I've seen them going for closer to $100 lately and that is kind of pushing it considering they don't have wireless support and there are a lot of solid 65% boards around for $100 these days. Check out my instagram or even my other videos here for some other examples. Most of my keyboards are under the $100 price (many under that price fully built and modded). Feel free to ask any questions, send a message, or request a particular switch or something you've not heard. Happy to share the knowledge as it's one of the best parts of the hobby

Your'e not entirely wrong. Part of that is my mic. Honestly though, I don't know that I'd be able to take the sound on cf plate or something hard. Fun fact: I just ordered another set of Melodics and I promise to try them in a less foamy board and I'll let you know when I do.

So, I've had it about a week and I've not torn it down completely yet as I'm waiting for my second one to arrive. Customization, from what I can see, is very good! You have different mounting options (which is rare in a board this price) and it is so easy to take apart (just be careful to disconnect the JST connection on the screen before pulling the cover off completely). If you're looking for a 75% that's easy to customize for a good price, this very well might be an idea choice. I've not messed with the software or set up the screen yet but I've had a number of similar boards and it's not that complicated. Let me know if you have any other questions or want to know something specific about the board (or any board, switch, etc.)

You're not alone. I have a very long history with evil clicky switches so I was hesitant to try these. They're expensive and I assumed they were way over hyped. I was always a "If I'm gonna use clickies, we might as well go Kailh Box Jade" but...never again! Honest, these switches feel so good and are so pleasing to listen to that I actually ordered another set so I can leave these ones in this board!

I never thought anything i did would be compared to cottage core or bob ross but I'll fuck with it! lol I appreciate the love! I NEED a new idea with what to do with it next!

I actually love these switches. Of all the small keyboards I have (a dozen at least), it has stayed on my desk for a few weeks. The switches feel great and sound fantastic...especially at the price point. As for lube, unless I state that they're hand-lubed, I have not touched them. They sound great right out of the bag/tub! I honestly didn't expect to like them as much as I do! Far surpassed my expectations of a cheap, dependable switch to compliment a theme 👍🌲

Thank you! I appreciate the time! As for the knob, there is a slight tactility but it doesn't feel anything like a Hi75 knob with those satisfying clicks. I will say, the large knob I put on is much more pleasing than the original plastic one that came with the board.

Thank you! It came out really nice and feels great! Matching pinks is not easy! Lol Board is completely stock. Generally for these sound tests I keep them pretty stock unless I do a bunch of mods and then I'll include that info. I'm super impressed with how it feels and sounds. (Stay tuned because this board may be sporting some new switches and keycaps for a sound test next week!)

Thanks for the reminder to include this info in the sound test videos. Switches feel fantastic actually! I'm very happy with this board and will likely not touch it for some time. They're 45g so they're not heavy but they don't feel nearly as light as I expected. That said...they are a great typist switch! Akko usually does a great job and I'm sorry I waited as long as I did to open these and try them!

I'm sure there's a name for them but they were on AliExpress as "GMK lavender" and they are clearly not GMK. They really are pretty great keycaps regardless!

They are an MA profile. I actually really enjoy typing on them and they tend to work really well if you have longer nails

@DadTech1981 Well, Neo80 has been added to the list (right under the Cycle7 that I'm trying to find). I've heard nothing but good things (even amidst rumblings from the keyboard elite. Lol). As soon as I get that NeoErgo I will build her up for a sound test. I had a special request to put it side-by-side next to other aluminum Alice builds so it'll probably end up in a couple of videos!

@DadTech1981 I love Alice. First Alice I bought was a Weikav Record and I absolutely fell in love. It quickly became a daily driver because I've never had great typing posture. Took about 3 days of casual use to get used to it. It's kind of like anything else...if you don't think about it, it really doesn't feel that different. It's not like I'm hitting B with both thumbs or something. It's definitely not for everyone though. And you just ruined my life by reminding me of the neo80 😭

Pretty sure I got an early production model so I'm not writing it off completely. Just a reminder that there are similarly(ish) priced 75% options that are better. 🤷‍♂️

Thanks for taking the time to watch. I really love how switches and some stabilizer tuning can change the sound of a board...especially one that's already filled to it's ears with foam of every kind.

SO sorry for the late reply! I honestly didn't think people would ever watch these videos! I have 4 al65 and they are, in many ways, pretty muted. To be honest, with this board, it was entirely the switches. Those topaz switches really came through with a bright sound. Other than that, I ALWAYS take the stabilizers out of these boards, clean any lube off, relube them, and then usually I'll give the bottom of the shafts a quick sanding so they slap evenly. Other than that, it's probably the luck of the build!
