Mickey Rivers | MLBbro Catalyst For Two World Series Titles Restoring Yankees Championship Legacy
RIP to one of the greatest to step on the diamond.
Rest in Peace Rickey. Legends never die
He also has the most leadoff homers for any player
Rest in Peace Rickey. One of th most pheneomenal, and electrifying players to lace up some cleats.
I grew up in Portland, Maine and a really big deal happened there in 1994 when I was 9 years old, when we got a brand new AA baseball team affiliated with the brand new Florida Marlins. It was a really awesome thing to be able to go to legit baseball games in our little town! And who was the star home-run hitter for the AA Portland Sea Dogs in that inaugural 1994 season? Why, Charles Johnson, of course! I still have a baseball signed by him from that season.
We called him “Shakin Bake McBride in Philly, because of how he used to play in the outfield and shake things up at the plate!! Yeah, he helped our Phillies get their first championship in a long time in 1980!!! Thank you Mr. McBride for your sensational service to our city!!!! ⚾️⚾️⚾️🫡
Garry Lee
Why are there no CJ highlight vids anywhere?? Watched him catch at the U when I first started playing baseball @7 yrs old with my dad and became a catcher because of him! He had a canon behind the plate but don’t ever get to rewatch what made me fall in love with the game and the catcher position
ripped off in the Cy Young vote. a great injustice. He was not a member of the right tribe. Stew followed Norris.

I know this was published a year ago, but I think after the Dodgers won the WS in 2024, *there's absolutely no question that Dave Roberts has solidified himself and his legacy as a future Hall of Fame manager. And I say this as a GIants fan who grew up in LA.* The man has the kind of class that's reminiscent of the great Julius Erving. He's humbled as a winner, and he's gracious in defeat. Dave Roberts journey is an incredible story. An Afro-Japanese, son of immigrants who made the most of what he has in the USA. He's the essence of the American Dream. The media loves him, he's very approachable, and I even met the man personally back in 2003. But Cooperstown had better get its act together and put Cito Gaston in there before Dusty Baker & eventually Dave Roberts get there. It's only right.
I started wearing a white Sox hat, not because I liked the team, but because Eazy-E, Ice Cube and Bo Jackson. Probably Dr. Dre too.
I absolutely love Ellis.... He is a friend of mine and my 13 year old son's hitting coach
Gibbie.... They lowered the mound six inches because Bob Gibson was so dominant.....how's that for part of a baseball legacy....
Indeed. Crazy !
Interesting though is that the 15 inch mound height had been in effect since 1951. When the strike zone expanded in 1963 is when pitching began to dominate, culminating in both dropping the mound height and shrinking the strike zone in 1969.
Ironically, St. Louis is one of the most openly racist big cities to have professional sports. And Cardinals fans are some of the most sanctimonious group of baseball fans you'lll ever come across. As intolerable as Yankees fans mixed with the smugness of Giants fans.
What does racist even mean anymore? It has become meaningless through overuse.
@@ron88303 anti-Black
@@MrBmick79 How is it anti-black? Today blacks are free to live where they choose, eat where they choose, shop where they choose, etc. Same as non-blacks. They mayor is black, as are 6 of the 14 aldermen; and blacks are significantly represented in government.
Bob Gibson, was probably the most imposing pitcher of his time. He probably would have been MVP of th '68 World Series too, if it hadn't been for Mickey Lolich. 1.12 era's are hard to come by these day's! He's the reason they lowered the mound in '69! Bro you should know?!? We all did back then!!!!!😂❤😂❤ RIP Bob!

My favorite pitcher.
Wow What a story!!!
Doc Gooden was the second coming of Gibson before the drugs got him. And he still balled out in the end.
Indeed. Doc had a natural ability that few if any possessed.
Most definitely...he was before my time....but i know that brother's record...was one of the best pitchers ever to play the game!
Thanks for your feedback !
He’s delmon and Dmitri nephew
Beloved by Mets fans. He died young so he isn’t well-known by younger fans
One of my favorite players, underrated, the secretary of defense
no idea why this came up on my youtube suggestions but i'm glad it did...i was born in 1960 in the SF Bay Area...my parents had moved out on their honeymoon from Pittsburgh...when I was 6 (maybe 7), my uncle Bill (still in the 'Burgh) arranged for my younger brother, my father and my uncle Nils to have breakfast at the Pirates' hotel in SF for their visit that year...our guest was Donn Clendenon! super nice man...he was 6'5" so taller than even the grown ups who took me to meet him...we went to the game at Candlestick that day after breakfast...it was an awe inspiring event in my young life and, of course, we were rooting for him forever after that, even when he was no longer a Pirate...check him out on Wikipedia...I believe he was recruited to Morehouse College and mentored by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr...there's definitely a part 2 to this video, imo...
Wow what a story !! Thanks for that

It's a shame he finished 27th in the MVP voting in 1990. Should've been in the top 10 easily. This dude had all the talent in the world and who knows what he would've accomplished if he had better knees. I believe sky was the limit. He was that talented.
Thanks for your feedback. He was truly a special talent.

Totally agree. He was maybe the 2nd greatest lead-off hitter of all-time. He just had the misfortune of playing at the same time as the GOAT (Henderson). He is truly underrated.

Jazz Chisholm should be the new ambassador for baseball worldwide. He projects such an infectious delight at playing the game, which he plays with crackling energy.
Bake's real name was not Aaron, it is Arnold Ray McBride.
One of the longest home runs I ever saw was Foster… June 1979, against the Phillies…. It was my first time watching the Reds at Riverfront… I was twelve years old … (I think that ball is still going somewhere in outer space!)
@@williamhicks7736 thanks for sharing that incredible story
Won the trade lol little early for that. CJs second half has been the worst in baseball. I think you'd rather have Juan Soto...Abrams in 327 games has a .700 OPS and is a strike out machine. Gore has 300 innings of 4.4 ERA ball and Hassell may never be called up.. All riding on James Wood.
@@ADM-wt9cn Yeah he had a rough second half. Baseball will do that to you. He will rebound

Burks was a lot of fun to watch.
Screw Cooperstown and Bud Selig!!!! MLB just now started honoring the negro league players...they are a day late and a dollar short with no idea of how to handle Barry Bonds when he played with no rules on the subject of HGH..or whatever....If over half the league was trying to get an edge while baseball profited off of the McGwire Sosa time...Bonds did what he had to do even though he was never proven to do anything....MLB has a Problem!!!!
Great vid. Didn't quite steal 74% with the Yanks...126/Angles, 93/Yanks, 48Texas =267 total...I remember when he played w/ California and the game would be late so the newspapers printed CST wouldn't have the stats for the previous night's game. He could steal those bases.
