Solving Gender

Gender is a big topic of debate, and I am giving my opinion on it. my main influence is Carl G. Jung, who developed the theory of the Anima and Animus in the sub conscious. I apply it to current social debates using my observations and thoughts. Marie-Louise von Franz was a Jungian psychoanalyst, here is a interview clip titled what modern women lack. “To begin with the senses, ’tis evident these faculties are incapable of giving rise to the notion of the continu’d existence of their objects, after they no longer appear to the senses. For that is a contradiction in terms, and supposes that the senses continue to operate, even after they have ceas’d all manner of operation.” -David Hume

Right-Nietzscheans are cray. Nietzsche described the spiritualization of the infinite debt in the context of retribution. D+G posit that this same void exists at the center of capitalist societies as the origin of desire (castration/ oedipalization), which is a disordered conceptualization of desire. Hard for me to see socialism as an inversion of values inherent to capitalist societies - it seems to me an alternative metaphysical system which may even have primacy.
What if the problem, is power itself my friend?
I liked this one, you exposed Carl Jung's ideas and added relevant commentaries.
Thanks, i appreciate the comment. Glad you found it interesting
I wouldn’t necessarily be able to advocate for trans people needing to just accept the dysphoric feeling as part of their personality . I think trans people do need to integrate the masculine and feminine aspects of themselves but I think everyone does and I think gender transition can genuinely provide a unique opportunity for that . For example I , a trans man grew up both playing with boy toys and girl toys. I got bullied early on for looking like a boy and so I tried really hard from ages 8-13 to conform to femininity while at the same time I was getting increasingly distressed by how my body was becoming more feminine. Eventually I learned that my feelings made more sense if I explored trans identity, and there was a short while I abandoned my feminine hobbies . By 4-5 months after realizing I was trans I was okay with expressing femininity again , this time through a male gendered Lense , and this felt like a more natural expression of myself. In accepting my inherent draw to masculine presentation and embodiment I was able to express more strength, drive, and creativity, sensitivity, etc etc . These days I pass perfectly as male and live my life that way . I also write poetry and do paintings and make music. I also go to the gym, speak in a baritone voice, and enjoy playing sports when afforded time. I wouldn’t say I’m possessed by an animus, unless you’d think that a person is the animus or anima, in which case I’d argue all men are possessed by the animus, which I don’t think. I have a natural proclivity in me towards presenting male, but that doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate the skills I learned in my feminine up bringing. I have skills most guys my age don’t . For example I’ve been doing stage makeup on people in theatres for years and I’m 19, that gives me an advantage in integration. Because my masculinity is something I (somewhat ) had to fight for to be fully realized,I also have a deep appreciation for it and I don’t have the problem I see with a lot of (but not all )guys my age who seem ashamed of the fact that they’re men . Who tend to try to denigrate masculinity to not be associated with the negative aspects , rather than doing the harder thing and embodying the positive aspects. I’m just one person tho and I’m not perfect , but I’m naturally intersex , was raised female , and transitioned to male , so I feel like I have a very unique perspective that has allowed me to see a lot of both the negatives and positives of femininity and masculinity.
Very interesting, I appreciate hearing your perspective
Alright Sherlock Holmes!
I appreciate your video. I like your intuitive thinking style, very reminiscent of some early forms of philosophy. I think the process of explaining something in an intuitive way (which some might call rambling), itself facilitates the crystalization of ideas in a very profound way. Like a free conversation with one’s self. Keep up the good work!
Thank you, your comment means a lot to me.

Gotta be real, this guy seems like the most insufferable hipster who corners you at a party
i fear stoicism has fallen in the same category that Christianity has since the romans have co-opted it. Many have historically committed atrocities for their own sake under the entitlement of godly intuition and today individual predatory ''alphas'' use warped stoic principles to rationalise antisocial practices in the pursuit of wealth or a vague idea of self improvement. What most people conveniently forget is that both of these teachings advocate the pursuit of justice, community and living in accordance with nature - people hear the explanation of Stoicism and Christianity and assume they are insular belief when that is far from the truth. There certainly are similarities in some stoic and Christian principles, but to say they are the same is a vast over-simplification, particularly when you factor in just how many interpretations of Christianity there are.
I am talking about it as in what I personally think is the meaning these things. And intentionally disregarding any particular doctrine that exists in the communities that follow these ideas. I gotta say in terms of predatory alphas, it may be you are projecting a negative masculine sense on this group, I find a lot of these guys a decent people that are integrating aggression into their personality. Which according to Jungian psychology is important otherwise it could cause mental distress, or passive aggression or agitation.
listening to jordan peterson readers explain leftist political theory is like hearing a toddler explain the book of ecclesiastes. masquerading a fresh perspective when it really follows a long lineage of clumsily melding together economic practices and underbaked philosophies - as if Jungian studies don't immediately contradict such binary ways of thinking. After watching and listening to years of this chicanery, I'm tired man
Sir you have a talent with words. But if you watched the video you know that I did not talk about political theory, but about social psychology.
Clickbait title, but there is the beginning of a serious concept here albeit poorly presented. A debate would suggest you will also be asked 'what would you do?' so you would need to be fully prepared for that in the unlikely case that the Woke person would show any interest in an outside perspective. Secondly, the tactic of asking questions risks the opposition gaining all the talking space. You would need to keep pressing them on the original question or risk the conversation/debate derailing into numerous other complaints. Thirdly, the concept of 'winning' seems naive. If you're hoping to convince the dedicated ideologue via reason, humiliation, argument or good faith discussion, you probably haven't 'debated' many ideologues. And, if you want to convince me that your clickbait title is warranted, get out of your armchair/gaming chair and go out and film some interactions where you demonstrate this tactic and show that it can be effective.
By woke I am referring to people that are not committed to a clear ideology, but a general value, and cares enough about western society. If you find out that they are committed ideologues, to then it’s a different story. But you can press them on jealousy or a power instinct if they are communists. It’s a good suggestion to go outside and debate,
"Postmodern Marxism" is not a real thing. The one thread that ties postmodern thought together is the lack of metanarrative. Marxism is a metanarrative ideology. Socialism is not a new idea; it is at least as old as the modern conception of capitalism, and framing it as some revolutionary idea belies ignorance of the history of the movement. Revolution is invoked by socialists as a description of a change to current systems, not as a complete inversion of human civilization and culture as it has ever been known. To describe the yearning for the abolishment of hierarchical structure as a religious impulse, or a "shadow structure", is deeply problematic. The civil rights and dignity of millions have been won through these structures, and they are still the prime mechanism of human liberation, unlike religious structures, which are some of the prime mechanisms of human repression.
Yeah but you can't be an ubermensch if you don't make vapid assertions about a mythic idyllic past
So far human rights have been won by a positive religious impulse, particularly in America. The Postmodernists were marxists in the sense that their goal was for the proletariat to overthrow the bourgeoisie. At least Foucault clearly stated this goal. One doesn’t overthrow power structures Willy nilly. In the video I state that it is not about economics, and am mostly criticizing the modern authoritarian governments of the past century, and am connecting to how postmodernists think themselves to be clean and brand new, not realizing they are motivated by power drives, and jealous instincts. Postmodern Neo Marxism, also known as woke, is taking the general Marxist pattern and applying it to everything. So for example the kind of feminism we see today, or ethnic politics, in contrast to a more Libertarian approach.
Got a better name for it
Agree with the critique. Marxism entails a materialist theory of history (similar to the Hegelian theory of history) and is not compatible with post-modernism. The ‘post-modern types’ referred to here may be socialist, but they can’t be proper marxists. Tbh, I think the response above is just a superficial rehashing of _The Tarantulas._ People used a religious justification (a ‘negative religious impulse’) to argue for segregation as well. Religious impulses and religious structures shouldn’t get all the credit or blame here, because it’s actually more complex. The more important point to address is the treatment of labor under capitalism… beginning in the time of the Industrial Revolution. This is what was meant by “human dignity,” and these changes were not motivated by religion.
@@yoseftovshteyn A "positive religious impulse" won human rights? How does that make any sense at all? Yes, MLK was a Christian, but his movement was based on working-class democratic socialist ideas that had been around for a lot longer than him, and he was very well aware of this. The socialists and communists that won workers' rights in the decades before the civil rights movement had very little religious influence- only to the extent that religion was endemic in the community at that point in time. Stop using religion to describe things that are not fundamentally religious. Foucault was not an exemplar of postmodern thought any more than a hundred others I could name, and he himself rejected that label rather strongly. Philosophers who have been grouped under that label do not necessarily have Marxist views at all; you should actually read some of their stuff before you say these things. So you're not talking about economics; you're just very crudely stating one of Foucault's own ideas, and then trying to use that to discredit Foucault. Got it. Again, there is no "postmodern neo-Marxism". Jordan Peterson or Dennis Prager or one of those types came up with that name, and it never made any sense whatsoever. Being "woke" just means you understand that your ancestors probably stole the land you're living on, and maybe you should try and be aware of your own privilege. Not too unreasonable.
I don't get it though. Im supposed to notice what bothers me then what?
Good question. The general idea is to integrate it into your own personality In a positive way, while also maintaining all the other parts of your personality. To achieve more wholeness. Because that feeling that we are noticing is also part of ourselves.
Great job channeling joe pera

When does this dark past theory pop up? The enlightenment and mass democracy?
A common idea is that the Industrial Revolution changed society quickly, and there was a lack of meaning, and stressful events etc. in terms of dark past we could say that the medieval Christians had pagan shadows and they where repressing it in what they called hell. In Carl Jung’s psychology if I have an aggressive instinct I need to integrate it into my personality, to be a more responsible person. And if I repress it I can be easy agitated or passive aggressive, and I’ll be convinced that I’m the calmest one.

@@yoseftovshteyn Yeah, it's a lot of fun
It's interesting that the very thing you're engaging in, which is a kind of freewheeling intuitive exploration of ideas, is the very thing that ultimately necessitated the mathematical formalisation of empirical knowledge. Intuition is in some sense unbounded, which is to say wild and unreliable. There's a freedom to it but it's just as likely to lead us astray as to the point...but perhaps that depends on how you define 'the point'.
Hello, you make a fair point, and it is one that I consider in my thinking process. The theories that we have about physics came from intuitive thinking and mathematics thing and tested with experiments. After quantum physics came about the intuitive ideas were so wild that people had to stop trying to imagine stuff. Whether or not we can advance physics with a philosophical approach, I don’t think it posses any threat to science, but It could pose a threat to an individuals sanity or comfort in feeling like their environment is known.
We need to continue reviving this aesthetic

There is an entertainment value of seeing you dressed up, smoking a pipe, sitting in front of many books, but the whole thing seems like a bit. Your thoughts are somewhat disorganized and so far I haven't heard a single idea that adds something new to the topics you've lightly touched.
glad you enjoyed the video, I am using an Intuitive way of thinking, and in this sense it could be hard to follow in a straight forward way. A great man once termed this technique as “The Weave.”

The theories you take issue with are mystical strawmen of the real theory. Particles aren't split into multiple universe. Instead, they show up as a wave when recorded . This is known as wave particle duality. Consciousness is the result of electrical synapses within an evolved nervous system. Each aspect of consciousness is explainable through the relevant organs. Light doesn't travel through a medium or on a surface space is a vacuum in which there is no matter or in which the pressure is so low that any particles in the space do not affect any processes
I am literally criticizing the idea that particles split into different universes
@yoseftovshteyn yes and rightfully so. But those are strawmen of superpostion and entanglement
I am not criticizing anything in terms of actual scientific experiments. Therefore I don’t see why you say I’m straw manning, I am simplifying to get to the idea
@yoseftovshteyn sorry for my disconnect with your point. I realize you're not doing a strawman, but responding to them . My point was they dont bare any weight to ponder as they don't represent any scientific theory properly
This is a mess. You are mixing this huge topic relation between Christianity as religion with connection to Christianity influenced philosophy (many representatives) in horrible way flatting it so hard to some kind of stoicism. As a very, very brutal generalization its fine but poor intellectually to not say infantile? You can say same thing about many other religions and philosophies not connected to any religion by itself. Wasted 4:08.
Sir, I think you are thinking with too much category. Which certainly sounds smart. In reality I’m not sure that there is a clear boundary between philosophy and religion. Also Stoicism predates Christ, and was popular and well known in some way or another in the area.
@yoseftovshteyn Never said that there is a clear boundary. In my opinion it isn't, but just my opinion. But going back why I wrote this above: punchline from this video is a brutal generalization and IMHO is a great example of faulty generalization. In one word: it's not a very fruitful punchline to say at least.
Logic is a great thing, but it is not the only form of thinking, especially not in philosophy. In this video I am using more Intuition. A great book that solves this conflict is Ian Mcgilchrist’s The Master and his Emissary.
@@yoseftovshteyn Intuition is important too and I'm not neglecting it, but when statement breaks basic logic (that's is just a tool helpful only when used in proper way and for proper aim) one should be aware that is walking on a thin philosophical ice being at risk of hard subjectivism where everyone is right and wrong in the same time. And I know that in some part we are all subjective and we need it in real life but isn't it a philosophy goal to find something more than just subjectiveness?
I can only again recommend Ian Mcgilchrist’s The Master and his Emissary

How do you think we got to where we are? Because of people in the past. This research method is called philosophy, and in a sense it is a lost art, people get very upset at it, possibly as a mechanism for the mind to avoid chaos, and maybe for good reason.
Read Foucault
My understanding is that Foucault is the daddy of woke. I’m sure it will be interesting to read him. I have heard the debate between him and Noam Chomsky. Foucault was bent on destroying all social power structures for the sake of it, Chomsky who himself is a anarcho communist, said in a later interview that Foucault was the most Amoral person he had ever spoken too.
@@yoseftovshteyn People often confuse amoral with immoral, and don't understand where Foucault comes from (a critical historical perspective on ideology, power etc. building on relativist and (post)constructivist premises), even though he is otherwise soooo widely read. Personally speaking, I'd expect a person saying anything substantial about wokeism, and someone with a bookshelf like yours to have read at least some Foucault, but I'm sure you'll get to it sooner or later.
The links between Stoicism and Christianity certainly speak to a higher truth to be found on our material plain. Consider that in many ways, Socrates considered 'The Great God' to be, essentially, the ultimate expression of wisdom, truth, or knowledge. Perhaps Socrates was correct in his spiritual assessment. It may also then be true that, divine or not, Christ was the human expression of wisdom on Earth, and is deserving of reverence regardless of his potential divinity.
Woke is the most evil movement in history. I say this as am Iraqi Muslim.
The word "evil" can't mean that much to you then. The woke mind feeds on a lot of false righteousness and alienation, but there are degrees of dehumanization and violence that I am sure you are aware of, which exceed even the more extreme principles and goals of wokeness. I say this as a German - not that I think identity matters that much in this matter.
@domsjuk What is evil about wokeness is that sees evil as good and pretends to be good while attacking good. I am brown and a labourer working for less than 4 dollars an hour. Not that I think it matters at all but so you know that not all POC are on the train of the destruction of wokeness.
@domsjuk It (wo...e) is evil but sees itself as good and pretends to be good and have the audacity to attack good. This is what makes that evil.
@domsjuk I see. (Hi.... r) and Starmer are on the evilness to me. Both hate good people.
@@lovepeople951 This applies to literally every single moral system that is not outright and self-consciously psycopathic. If you ask an IS-fighter, why he slit a man's throat and enslaved his woman and child, he will tell you it's for the glory of God and the greater good - he is not evil, it's the ones whom he rightfully punishes who are evil. Likewise, a Nazi often enough did not think of themselves as evil; in their eyes, it is necessary to be violent to defend and purify your own race, which is entabgled in an inevitable war of races, and needs to protect itself from foreign and internal enemies. Most Evil comes in the disguise of the good, and will not recognize the myriad forms of Evil that have come before it, and just as itself denied its own nature.
