Gay, Dr. Flair isn't even a real Doctor Who. Nor was the weird female in the Robin Williams suspenders. Peter Capaldi was the LAST Doctor Who.
So stupid.
This was very intersting, I had no idea this was even a thing, now I can't unsee, thanks for doing this!
Wait, wait, WAIT! John Coffey in the Green Mile is actually based on the older of the magical Israelite trope, I'm not saying it rules out all elements of magical negro, but you can't just dismiss it without first getting into metaphysics and asking what actually is agency.
Without even starting the video, the thumbnail has Ncuti Gatwa, most likely as the Doctor from, you know, Doctor Who, who is, as again you must know, THE MAIN CHARACTER in the show, and also not a human but an alien in human form. So him having powers doesn't make him a MN by default.
Now try watching the video.
There was a movie about this
It would really help the viewer if you could subtext the pictures with the characters names, for people unfamiliar with these roles, or even actors.
First time hearing about this and was very interesting, specially because you made it very entertaining to watch. Also the "is a negro who is magical" caught me off guard lol. got a new sub.
Why'd this rubbish get recommend to me? Imagine fishing for something to complain about. Maybe they should just take them oyt of the movies in general yeah?
3:06 magician with green skin. But, audience's mind is stuck. We cannot imagine a world where our concepts of caste, la casta, untouchables do not exist.
I'd like to add Bonnie Bennett from the Vampire Diaries to the list.
the substance was the film that stayed with me the most throughout the year
Who...f-cking...cares? Discuss.
That is a rather educating take on media literacy, although I do have a question about it : can a mentor to a main protagonist (or several) be black without being a magical negro ? Since I tend to view mentors as characters that are here to both teach something to the main character and have little to no agency or their own, it sounds like my take en mentors would probably trap any black character into the magical negro trope. Maybe my take on mentors is wrong and that discussion doesn’t have a reason to be, but I am genuinely wondering about that.
Furiosa for me, but I have a sneaking suspicion The Brutalist will surpass it when I get the chance to see it.
Krypto is the bestest boy.
My guess it's a clone of Superman
I like the glass
Let’s hope that not a single woman finds this at number 10 because we both know what would happen
My top movie was I saw the TV Glow
We basically have the same top 10 expect for Wicked!💯💯💯

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
You captured the key details. Dramatic Coat? check. Purple magic? check. You gotta go Hat rather than long hair updo though. Fits you better and it takes your look to "exceptional".
No. Elphaba is not. She is the main character.
I was going to pop off on Ncuti. But I am going sit back down
Mr Popo counts
1:07 Why not make your own characters and stories? If someone creates a story, the aspects of it should originate from the creator's imagination, not a quota. A big reason is that a single individual or group isn't capable of representing an entire race. Black people, just like any other demographic, are a huge amount of individuals with different experiences, beliefs, locations, and backgrounds.
Actually that movie was racist.
Enjoyed the effervescent presentation of this video. Congratulations!
just to make them feel important and somehow useful to society
Here, I spotted the racist
This is a good video for ignorant Negroes like F.D Signifier who think Sidney Poitier's characters where Magical Negroes. Magical Negroes don't slap white racists, kill slave catchers, or join the Mau Mau. Hope this helps.
I am a monster Wonderman fan. Making him Black changes nothing of importance to the character or series. I can't wait.
My dad explained to me when I was little that it was insulting to always have the kindly janitor who gives advice that saves the day . He said that buying into that trope is upholding racism.
Elphaba has agency and people actually care about her side of the story. She's a main character so no, she isn't a MN lol
I'm 4 months late but this is perfect
Elphaba is the main character and her whole arc is using her agency to turn against a fascist regime that was oppressing animals. She's manipulated and bullied horribly but part of the magical negro trope? No.
Is the skull a mic? I’m here for it! Def giving Halloween town vibes and iykyk
I preferred a black Harry Potter . But the spin on it was dope . Playing in everyone’s face
Dumbledore made more moves to make sure Harry won in the end than even Harry himself.
