So we took our chipug Queen GeeGee JuJu Bee out for her first ride in her basket on our Terratrike tandem pro recumbent trike. She has been sitting in the wire basket inside of our house for several weeks. Up at 5am and lighting the Arteflame Grill to get it ready with coals for todays front yard breakfast with friends. MAN the wind whipped up the flames fast! Half way through the video PETE THE PEACOCK came to visit and sit on the fence to eat sunflower seeds LOL

We planted a Sungold tomato a while back and it never grew. After a few weeks it put off a ton of little tomatos but the plant itself had never grown an inch. So when we were at the local Orangevale Farmers Market we picked up a new Sungold Tomato from the CASA ROBLE FFA high school booth where they had propogated a ton of veggie starts they were selling. Ignore our messy yard. We are in the middle of the annual spring cleaning. Our MINI farm life: Every morning I go feed "the girls". Love my chickens and ducks. Milo however is a pain as she rarely stops quacking LOL.

Finished the upper garden, mostly. Still need to plant the sunflowers, they are currently growing in little trays of pots to replant. The metal grid is where the sunflowers will be tied, so they dont fall over. The plastic sheeting weed fabric is where our zinnias are planted. We still need to bring in more mulch to cover the old. And my first round of marigolds are usually to feed the icky ear...

In 2021 we hatched many praying mantis egg caseings and set the babies free in our huge oaks. Supposedly they will live their entire lives in the oak canopy, never coming down if the trees are large enough.

We spent all day getting our side garden in today. At the front we put weed fabric under the marigolds and layed the garden main drip line along it. I will pull all the drip lines off of the main one. Each plant has its own drip line to it. The weed fabric keeps the grass from growing. I still have to put in the sunflowers and zinnias. But we got all of the marigolds (earwig food), 4 tomatoes, ...
Truck got stuck in the snow, so we walked out 20 miles. Fun times!

That ONE time Rhett, Amelia, and Sean took the "back road" to get to the ski resort and ended up with the truck stuck in snow. They had to walk miles and miles and miles before the big storm hit to get back to civilization. No cell service. They were lucky as they got back just in time to get a tow truck, go back and pull out the truck, and get back to the hwy before the HUGE snowstorm hit.

dog meth...that is what pulled pork is for our Gee Gee JuJu Bee and Emma Gemma. They had to smell the pork smoking for 8 hours. They are READY for some pulled pork. I cannot even get the words out of my mouth they are so excited.

Can you tell us, did Laidback Cycle convert the trike to electric?
You know, if drivers can't see you on a contraption like that, then no number of tiny flashing lights is going to make the difference.

Yes due to health reasons
You CAN put a new coin type battery in that first light, just remove the plastic on the back.
Where I bike in Wisconsin 56 degrees is shorts and t-shirt weather.
The wind chill riding is what kills me.
@@theadventuresofketkon8388 I have a fairing on my Tour Easy recumbent. That seems to help especially with keeping my legs and feet warm on really cold rides. I'm good down to about 30 degrees. My main problem is ice on the trail.
What happens in a downpour, do you get wet from front 2 wheels kicking up dirt & water? How do you lock it?
Yep I get a face full of mud l o l. You can put mud guards on the front wheel. So they don't kick so much but I do not like how much they rattle. I do wear full face goggles in the winter with my eyeglasses underneath. That I wrap a scarf around my lower jaw to keep the mud off. Ask her how to lock it up the front gear shifting grab handles have a lock that lock the front wheels. Someone was to jump on it when it was locked with those locking grab handles. The average person wouldn't know how to quickly get them undone to drive off with it. We also have locking cables we can use.

It looks like TerraTrike is still using the kingpin setup on the front. You may wish to get an extra set of Brass bushing for it. When they wear the steering can do odd things. Some riders call it the magic carpet affect when going down hill, as the front end doesn't respond to inputs. They aren't difficult to swap out, when it happens.
Was there a reason you went with a hub drive vs. mid drive?
We got it during covid and this was pretty much the only thing available. We have been very happy with it.
Do you have a motor on that?
We do have an assist motor. This tandem is a beast and very heavy. He bumps it occasionally to give us some speed. Right now since we're on a main road and we're heading to the bike trailhe's using the motor to get us the heck down there quickly.
Who makes the headrest mount on the back of the captain’s seat? Was it possible to get something that does not poke out towards the rear so far???
Hey gang, thanks for the video of our bent bike at Laid Back bike shop swaraj at the American River thang. I see you like lights on trikes and we have some on our trikes. you might have noticed them when we stopped at the park. You took a video of our flags and maybe noticed the lights. . They are 12V emergency lights from fire trucks and the like. You can see us from two blocks away. Plus I used a blue light at the rear in the hopes cars might think COP! We just purchased a Terratrike Tandem Pro and wonder what the extension bar for phone and computer is called? Where can I purchase one?
We got them from Laidback Cycle in Fair Oaks California. The extension bar is so we can attach items, like computers, phone case etc. The computer links to our peddle assist system on our trike. The assist gives us partial power boosts when needed OR we can full throttle it like a dirt bike full power all the way home with out peddling at all. I am disabled so sometimes I do not have the power to peddle the whole ride. Also helps on hills
I think the accessory bar is made by TerraCycle instead of TerraTrike. TerraCycle makes a lot of useful add-ons.

I ride a two wheeled recumbent, and I've been using two of the MIRRYCLE's ever since I bought the bike back in 07 One on the right, and one on the left. Very good mirrors.

Thats awesome. We love the huge variety of trails here. With our heavy tandem, and my disabilities, the assist motor is great when needed. We dont always use it unless we need it.

Hey Richard I agree with you and I outfitted our trikes (the checkered flag ones in the video) with 12-volt emergency lights for fire and police vehicles. I installed blue in the rear thinking that it smacked of cops rather than a bike and it would garner more attention. Most trikers think they are great.
thats a great idea. yes the blue definately is something you dont see everyday on a light and makes people look.
I was (and still am, I guess) a believer of “lots ‘o lights and flags”. However, after being hit (and HPVelotechnik Scorpion being trashed by an inattentive driver who just HAD to cut the corner AND SAVE A SECOND, I’ve come to realize that there aren’t enough lights and flags to get SOME drivers to pay attention ! So, now, I’m leaning towards outfitting my next trike with REACTIVE ARMOR!

Such amazing, beautiful birds. I lived down Goldengate my entire childhood and remember hearing the peacocks calling in the evening all the way until the sun went down (and even sometimes a little after that lol). There was a house down the street from us as well that you were almost guaranteed to see about 4 or 5 of them when you drove by. Thanks for bringing back some childhood memories.

If the sound is the method of deterrent... rather than the actual zapper... Why not just an airhorn? I use a Airzond horn... pumps up with my standard air pump. startles dogs enough to stop them and works well on inattentive Drivers too! ;-)
We have an air horn and that's been unsuccessful. But the cracking on that zapper is crazyvwierd and loud. The video definitely did not display it very well. But it's a weird loud noise that animals for some reason do not like.
I guess it just depends on the dog what would bother them
We have a 10 year old Tandem Pro that we recently electrified. EBoom north of Indianapolis suggested the battery be placed behind the stoker seat. Interesting that you are the stoker. Are you the stronger rider? I am the captain of our tandem team.
I am definately not the stronger. But I have heart and dizziness issues so better that my hubby drives

@@theadventuresofketkon8388 Yeah, the very same drivers who see 6 inch tall squirrels dashing across the pavement, and react to arrows painted on the pavement.....somehow can't see recumbents. Weird.
If you ever head up this way we definately recommend staying at the Natomas Inn in Old Town Folsom. that way you can keep you trike in your hotel room if needed. The paved bike trails are right there and you can ride for miles and miles either way (towards Sacramento our out east on the Johnny Cash Trail). And you can ride your trike into Old Town Folsom to eat on the patios and park your trike in the street. They shut the street down fri/sat/sun so no cars can drive down Sutter Street. Its great
Truley these were inexpensive and easy to put on the wheel. They really light our trike up, day or night. We have had so many compliments on them. Just make sure you buy the kind that is in the plastic tube. Some sell these lights that are just on a wire. You need them in a tube to keep the mud off etc so they last.

we actually ran over an aluminum ring. Thought it was something falling off. Took us forever to figure out our trike was NOT falling apart
@@theadventuresofketkon8388 we finally found a black aluminum ring, that looked like it may have come off of someones camera (or something). Was sooooo strange. Boy did it worry us until we found it. We must have run over it just perfectly because it flipped up from the wheel and kind of ping ponged around the spokes and hit the frame. So it sounded like something big happened LOL
I love the tandom trike. I'm hoping to get my wife interested in a tandem
I wanted one for years. My husband is a real athlete and I can not keep up with him. Once my health mandated I can no longer ride an upright bike, the tandem entered our life. The IPS Independent Pedal System was a marriage saver. I pedal when I want LOL.

Sorry I have not seen the message on FB. I will look for you. Our trike is a Terratrike Tandem Pro. We purchased it from Laidback Cycles in Fair Oaks CA. We had just entered COVID when we got it, so we had looked at all brands. Trident, Greenspeed, etc. But the ONLY one we could get our hands on was this Terratrike Tandem Pro. I was really concerned it would not fit our needs. Well WOW was I happy once we got it. LOVE it. We rode for about 4 months waiting for our motor to come in. Truthfully we have no idea what brand/etc the motor is as it is a "proprietary" motor made for Laidback to their specs. It is a 500 watt motor. We were thinking we needed bigger, but it has done great.
We got the motor from Laidback Cycles in Fair Oaks CA. They have a "proprietary" motor so we do not know much about it. But i do know they had 2 choices, one 500 and one 750. We got the smaller motor that has more torque. It does fine. We love it. Look up Laidback Cycle and contact them. Let them know The Palmers sent you
The lights on the side are a great idea.
well, after I came face to face with a bumper once...I really went overboard and put lights everywhere. LOL. We have found that cars slow down, say or night, when they see us as they really want to check out our ride. BUT since we ride quite a bit on the trails at night, and have to ride on auto roads on part of it, YES putting lights so we are seen from different angles makes me fell much better.
I gotta get up there some day and ride around. We have a lot of great trails down here in southern California too but that trail looks great.
if you are ever up this way in Sacramento give us a heads up. We love love love all of the trails around here. Someday I would love to have a recumbent rally out of Folsom CA, so some can camp and others can stay in the hotel on the trail.
