Jeep Gladiator cold air intake - pleasantly suprises
I wanted to try and extract a little extra torque/HP from my 3.6. Normally, intakes don't make much difference on low revving engines, and the Jeep has a pretty nice intake already.
To get the most out of the 3.6, you need to reprogram the Engine Contol Module. Livernois performance does this. of course you can go the supercharger route. But, that's way out of range.
So, a few notable things about the install. Generally pretty simple. I did have to backtrack a bit, but the overall install took 30-45min.
The initial impression:
Normally, there is a little bit off a torque hole at around 2200rpm. With the intake, the hole is "shallower". But the big difference is at 3200-3800 rpm. Much more ag...

All about hinge pins - FSJ Wagoneer
Просмотров 1385 месяцев назад
Most of my hinges are worn. The front doors are easy. I bought pins and bushings from BJs, and Ebay (same). But I had a hard time finding pins for the rear. I could buy used hinges for the rear, but those would probably have worn out pins too. I looked through a number of available pins (Chevy, Ford, even imports). Nothing matched exactly. So I decided to find a pin and accompanying bushings an...

Spraying the roof. One coat sealer. Three coats base. 3.5 coats clear. Came out OK. I'm definitely the limiting factor. there are spots on the roof that are like glass. And there are spots with texture. Once everything is done I'll see about wet sanding and buffing. This was a big panel. And awkward as it's hard to reach the middle. Now I can focus on the doors.

Rolling on some Raptor Liner before primer. I thought about spraying it, but didn't want to mask. Worked out pretty well. I like to wet texture on the rockers. The fabric separates after a while, requiring a new roller. So now, I'm ready for the b...

2nd part of the floor finishing. I used tintable Raptor and I used my base coat paint for the color. You can buy tint packs for Raptor specifically, but I figured this would work. What u mean normally a 3 to 1 mixture bro? Like 3 raptor to 1 hardener? Then u added .5 of reducer?

    • @comfort_in_discomfort
      @comfort_in_discomfort 11 дней назад

      Yes exactly. The instructions call for mixing raptor and hardener 3:1. I added (but didn't film stupidly) reducer to get a smoother texture and allow it to spray from my hvlp 2.0mm. A Raptor kit comes with the hardener, but no reducer. I just used my standard reducer, but I've heard that acetone would work too, though I have not tried that.

    • @comfort_in_discomfort
      @comfort_in_discomfort Месяц назад

      Hell no... I've had all sorts of issues right at the 2 yr mark. I had to replace the fan motor on one of the indoor units twice (bad bearing). Then the main control board on the outdoor compressor. And now, there's a leak in the garage air handler... really sucks. Mr.Cool will send the warranty parts, but typically they want a certified technician to tell them what's needed. That coats $250 per service call that they don't cover. So I've taken videos to illustrate the noise on the motors, and bubble test the air handler so they can see the bubbles. So now I have to either call a tech to vacuum and refill the whole system (quote $750), or do it myself. I'm going to try to simplify the lineset by making new, and try myself. But I really want to replace the whole thing altogether with a different brand.

      More than a year in, and I love it. Honestly I haven't changed it at all since the initial setup. Play around with the delay and "magnitude" settings. If I go to 35" tires, I may end up increasing the magnitude. No issue in reverse or otherwise. Just tune it to your style. But don't change it while driving.

    Interesting method. I’ve just sprayed my entire truck with raptor and put it on my channel. Upol only recommend a maximum of 10-15% thinners and you went with 30% and it seemed much easier to spray than I found. I struggled to get it through the gun in a decent pattern at 10%

    • @comfort_in_discomfort
      @comfort_in_discomfort 2 месяца назад

      I just watched your raptor videos. At the end, it seems you got a good result. I couldn't tell what orifice your HVLP was. Mine started life as 1.4mm but drilled to 2.0. Even at 2.0, my pressure was 40 or so. Also, a few other settings make a difference. The knob by the air hose is for air/fluid volume. That should be at maximum (out). The large knob by the trigger is to set the pattern. This is your preference, but bigger means "smoother" for Raptor. I think you got a terrific result with a small compressor!

Especially true if there are no bleeder resistors to drawn the voltage down in a timely manner. Don't touch the blue thingy. I just found your channel and I’m glad I did. I’m embarking on a restoration of a ‘79 Wagoneer. Quick question- what size compressor are you using for the paint gun?

      Cool! My compressor is a 29gal from Harbor Freight. Essentially the biggest 110V one. It works best if you use LVLP guns, as they consume much less air. This compressor is not for air tools really, not for constant use. I could run an air sander for about a minute and then have to wait for the compressor to recover. If you're planning on air tools, go big. I use mainly electric tools, including a good DA sander. As far as paint, the HF purple gun I use for epoxy works fine for my needs. And LVLP (like the Sprayit 3000) for paint. Good luck! And ask away. I'm no expert, but have made plenty of errors I'm happy to share.

    Nice job! Really like that the texture, much finer this way. I just picked up an 87 4runner and the fiberglass top needs to be refinished. I think I will do it this way. Don't want a heavy texture on the top but the way you did it looks just how I want it!

      I saw a video of a couple of Australian guys painting their truck with this ratio so I thought I'd try it. Just prep your surfaces really well. Good luck!

    fluorescents are better

      Wiring is the issue. In order to get more fluorescent fixtures, additional hard wiring is needed. I like the LED output, and the ability to link them. I just don't like these. Before I do final paint on my Jeep, I'll need to swap these out.
