      The units in the eastern, central eastern and north eastern part of the state have the highest draw odds of any units in the state. The area is beautiful and there are motels in towns like Lusk, Douglas, Gillette. The odds for some of them used to be 100%. I haven’t looked lately but with previous tough winters that’s probably dropped a little. Good luck!

    I have built three guns on the Zermatt TL3 action. I am using proof research pre-fit carbon fiber wrapped barrels. Two of my guns are 6.5 CM and the other is 6mm ARC. My Zermatt actions are the best actions that I have ever used. ElmoColt45 described his difficulty with Zermatt’s Customer Service. I have to say that I am extremely surprised. I contacted Customer Service several times between the three actions and I was always able to talk to a person and got immediate responses to my emails. Now with all that said, my issues quite minor. Now concerning the issue of light primer strikes. I have a couple of questions. First, what are the results with your go and no-go gauges? If your bolt closes on the no-go gauge, I think you really need to get your barrel milled for the action. Second question, what ammunition are you using? If you are using hand loads I would seriously look at your primers and how deep they are seated. Zermatt should respond to you and again, I am really surprised that they haven’t. But as I pointed out, there are other things, other than the action itself that could be the cause of light primer strikes. Someone asked how long does it take to get an action after you order it. It takes between 6 and 8 weeks to get your action after you pay your $100 non refundable deposit. They don’t make it until they have a confirmed order.

      I will say that this setup is heavier then a Clymr with Ti action by probably a pound. It’s 9.5 lbs with the 300 PRC barrel, but what you give up in lightness you certainly gain in flexibility and who wants only one caliber anyway! We always want different calibers for different things.

  • @craiglovelace1753

    Nice. I’ve thought several times of doing a switch barrel rifle. Have looked at several options from shouldered prefits to the West Texas Ordnance Switch Lug. It would be much more economical than the several dozen rifle/scope combos I have. I’ve thought about taking 4 of my favorite customs and doing a switch barrel to cover the Creed, SAUM, 06 AI’s and PRC families.

    • @Wyoming_Wild
      @Wyoming_Wild 10 месяцев назад

      The versatility of rifles like this and even folding stock style rifles are going to to be the future of this sport. I think a lot of other major manufacturers will get on board with them. One rifle can fit so many niches that shooters are going to want that rather then having a safe full of different rifles. You should consider any of the action manufacturers that proof makes prefits for too. Any of those will allow you to switch barrels with just a barrel vice and the actions like Zermatt allow you to change the bolt head too. That’s why Proof made that rifle “The Switch”. It was a limited deal but super appealing for all the reason I mentioned above. Some other barrel manufacturers do prefits too. 700 style actions are very user friendly with multiple stock options, barrel lengths etc, but Savage and Tikka are putting out stuff now that the aftermarket has made really configurable and easy to change/modify. Anyway I could talk for hours about this LOL! Good luck you won’t be disappointed.

    My experience with Gunwerks has been disappointing to say the least....I toured their facility a couple years ago with the intention of putting an order in for a new Clymr build however that didn't happen because I left a little underwhelmed after taking the tour. I couldnt really understand a 10K package when I actually added up the individual components and the perspective cost of putting the rifle together and load validation...it just didnt make sense....what I'm a actually paying all this extra money for....and I'm talking thousands over the components and glass. I however loved the Clymr stock ( $1100 ) so much I purchased one seperate which I ended up returning for quality control issues the paint on the stock was terrible......runs, blotches, it was terrible. They promptly took it back and returned it in about the same shape as it left, so oh well, I shipped it to Area 419 who put a Bartlein Carbon fiber barrel and Defiance action and it shot amazing. However there was much discussion on how crude the action inlet was and how much work it actually took to get the Defiance to fit correctly even after I spec'd it specifically for that action. Fast forward to about a month ago one of my local shops had a Nexus for sale topped with a Kahles 3-18, 12.5K if I recall. Rifle seemed to be really nice however when we tried to drop the magazine it was extremely hard to release and once it finally did we could not get it to seat back properly. The owner stated 3 out of 5 Gunwerks rifles they order has had issues of some kind and they were not going to be a dealer anymore because of the customer complaints. I really hope you're rig works out great because they are very innovative and forward thinking company however I do believe quality control is def lacking and for that price.....thats unacceptable for the majority of serious shooters.

      I couldn’t agree more & I have heard other horror stories of people that have gotten burned. I think it is a too big too fast situation, but I will say I got a smoking deal and wouldn’t have done this had I bought it direct. That was an over $2k proposition that was NOT AT ALL worth it.

      I love the nexus and really enjoy most things Gunwerks. I’ve heard Aaron say on old podcasts that a major difference is in the finish of the rifles. He even has an old Instagram picture up on his profile making the claim. I was a little disappointed when I received mine and it had a few finish issues. I literally said “Aaron, what the heck?! - the finish is supposed to be perfect!” The magazine was tough at first too but that has since worked in. I really wonder if the 3/5 have issues is a relative problem or true problems. However at these prices any issue is a real problem. I think the answer to the title of this video may be a yes answer. Too expensive and the future of hunting rifles. There is so much to love about the nexus. But, in the court of public perception, these prices are crazy. If you can afford it though, it’s it is feature packed and I’m trusting GW to take care of any performance issues.

    I really like this rifle, sad to see they setup the case wrong. Scope should be toward the handle.

    Most of the haters would LOVE to have a custom Holland & Holland rifle, even an used one, IF they could afford it. They would still rather bitch about an American company founded by two brothers, who have been in business over 10yrs producing an ever evolving great though expensive product. What are you mad at? The fact that you weren’t born with a silver spoon up your ass, you didn’t pay attention in school, what? Oh that’s right, long distance shooting isn’t hunting, and grandpas 80yo rifle can do everything a Gunwerks rifle can do. Fine then. Go home empty handed from that expensive guided elk hunt because you can’t shoot across a valley. To each their own.

      Yes I think there’s a ton of this especially across social media platforms. There’s also a lot of value in less expensive rifles that still shoot well. You don’t always buy a Gunwerks just because it shoots. The quality, innovation, materials are all top notch. Just like any good custom.

    You drank the Kool-Aid over price overhyped too many rifles in the $2500 range. They can do anything that Rifle can do unless you’re one of those guys that can figure anything for yourself and you need someone to do everything for you and all you have to do is take it out of the box.

      It’s not always what it can do but also how much craftsmanship went into the build itself. Factory rifles rarely have the quality of something like this.

      @@Wyoming_WildI couldn't agree more. Any watch can tell time. You buy a Rolex or breitling for example because of the craftmanship. I've also drank the gunwerks koolaid and it tastes great.

      @@Wyoming_Wildit’s a valid point. Gunwerks has manufactured most of their components in the life of their existence; with exceptions being ammunition components like bullets and brass… They even make their own barrels now! Thanks! Isaac

      Any custom is quality and that quality is why we love those rifles. The best materials and craftsmanship make it just as much about appreciating the rifle itself as the work that it’ll do in the field.
