An October 21, 2024, presentation by Dr. Roy Larick to the Cleveland Metroparks Watershed Volunteerson Cuyahoga County's historical forests as guides for maintaining species diversity in the current urban forest.
The premise was that basic watershed features served to geographically diversify tree species in local pre-development forest. Historical species patterns can therefore guide local tree planting to maintain a healthy (species-diverse) current forest.
Supporting species data were drawn from the 296 Moses Cleaveland Tree sites and from the timber rankings found in the Connecticut Land Co's survey notebooks, 1796-1806.
