5 stars for sure, absolutely captivating film. Love the little touches of all the characters and what they add to the atmosphere. Even if you know the story and its outcome, it's still thrilling.

This is the longest "Kubrick films" video I have run across. Usually, people rank my favorite, "Barry Lyndon" around the middle, and I recognize it's not his greatest, but I love it!

I had actually never seen this movie before finding out you guys were covering it but I am so glad I watched it! I think it's great, I love this style where the suspense is built in a less flashy, well constructed way. I think every moment counts here in a way that keeps you fully engaged throughout the entire run time and I agree with Aidan, the movie just flies by. I really couldn't believe it was ending so quickly. I love a movie like this that just takes you on a ride and the fact that they do it with essentially one small, completely ordinary set is pretty amazing. I love that they don't have to hit you over the head with action to tell a thrilling story. 5 stars for me.

I do love that they do it in one set, and it did fly by. A testament to a very good film: very much like a play Glad you’re following along Vanessa!

I don't think it's quite as strong as Raiders, but I think it's easily the second best Indiana Jones film. As Taavi said, it's a lot lighter than the first two, which maybe holds it back a little, but I think it's probably still a 4.5. I've seen it more times than I can count and it holds up incredibly well.

Based Clay. The book is incredible and exposes Spielberg’s struggle to understand the human experience. In spite of all his sentimentality, genuine emotion in his films are the performers squeezing water from a stone instead of dramatic skill as a filmmaker.

I am pretty sure that Tammy’s sex tape wasn’t actually played to the crowd. I think it was Tammy’s delusion/lack of sleep/Verna messing with her. No one else in the room reacted to the sex tape, it was just Tammy screaming and throwing things.

My Ranking: 1. F for Fake - Welles was a Pro, using a DIY aesthetic (AKA "Amateur Aesthetic"). Amongst the greatest films EVER IMHO 2. Touch of Evil - Directorial Acrobatics! I hate how ugly Welles looks, but I think he inspired Jabba the Hut. 3. Othello - DIY Excellence 4. Citizen Kane - I don't like CK, but it's important enough that I watch it anyways... I like this "POLITICAL INTRIGUE" Genera like: "Meet John Doe", & "Wag The Dog" 5. Chimes at Midnight - I have a WELLES BIAS! But C@M is not that great... It's about corruption IMHO 6. Lady From Shanghai - Welles was fascinated by CUCKS! Sad... Other wise it's GREAT! 7. The Magnificent Ambersons 8. The Trial - An important film w/an important take on K (Welles thinks he' BAD) 9. Macbeth - DIY/German Expressionist Shakespeare: Theater/Film hybrid. Good but not great. 10. Mr.Arkadan - I watched all 7 versions! I must have liked it... 11. THE STRANGER (NEVER SAW IT... NO, I DID!! Not memorable...) 12. Never say Other Side Of The Wind... I did not know it existed!!! I don't have to have seen it, to know it's better then Immortal Story... 13. The Immortal Story - The Immortal Cuck... Orson Welles? (Maybe...) A BAD(!) made for TV, movie A cheap version of Lady From Shanghai

Raiders of the Lost Ark is one of my favorite movies of all time, but Temple of Doom is kind of a misfire. The characters are a big part of it. Compared to Karen Allen's Marion, a strong, kick-ass female counterpart to Indiana Jones, Kate Capshaw's Willie being a helpless damsel in constant distress is really disappointing. I feel like they were trying to appeal to kids with the introduction of Short Round, but it's also a dark movie where a dude gets his heart ripped out of his chest, so it doesn't quite add up. Also, Indiana Jones is supposed to be an archeologist chasing down historical artifacts. Having him save an Indian village from an evil cult is just weird.
