@johnsimpson8652 yes it was more km22 around here but a 50/60 hp tractor seemed to be pretty common in the area.

@timwright5466 Yes normally use a modern disc mower with conditioner, only bought this KM20 this summer as spares/repairs , it suites the dexta nicely, it was a bigger Fahr KM22 my greatgrandfather bought new that we used to have then went to a bit of a rough Deutz Fahr KM24 with conditioner in about 2006/2007 and after that onto bigger disc mowers in a few year. The KM24 saved a day drying and we halved the tine usage of the Fahr Centipede tedder.

How did the Pottinger compare to the Fahr?

@arwelagrimachinery similar really tbh we only kept the old mowers as a just in case thing ..besides they were worth bugger all scrap..down time in the middle of hay season isn't funny ..the old fahr centipede sits in a bed of nettles these days ..the new one under cover ..

@timwright5466 We're the same keep a couple of mowers at 1 time. Have to say the Centipede was a better tedder in the last 2 days of making hay, krone tedder we have now is terrible for wanting to row it up/making lumps when it gets light/fluffy. Alright in silage/haylage with a bit of weight to it

To be honest that field had a bit too much new growth in the middle of the old so was made into Haylage round bales, but did have the middle of another field that was a bit younger stuff we made into small square's this year

Could be bigger, im not 100% but think from memory our old Tarrup straw chopper was 17mm (m10) nuts on those U bolts and this spreader uses 19mm (m12) . Same sort of design but sprockets are on the front of a chopper as it pulls forward really

@johnsimpson8652 to be honest it hasn't done that much work , reckon the bother is chains are hardened steel and the sprockets are softer than them

Wouldn't call it a problem but the only snag is the ribs do fill up with foul water so have to watch yourself moving it after a while, a bit like how tyres fill up with water for silage pit

@@arwelagrimachinery thank you i went ahead and drill 1/2 in holes on back of the ribs i found some 28 in pipes and been using them for our cows works very well

@Paddy6.30 depends on age, I would say the newer ones are definitely ahead of Claas, JD, Vicon ,NH but are 2nd to Mchale. The Welger's have a latch but everything else uses check valves to take strain off the spools now on newer machines anyway for that side of things.

Old RP12 vs like a Claas 42 , just about evenly matched although the Welger unlike the Claas wouldn't blow your spool coupling O rings or the door wouldn't creep open due to the Welger having a latch

@arwelagrimachinery their the beat made baler id say now lad I know a lad that had a f5600 mchale and the netting broke his Hart like we have a rp220 master with over 100k bales and she's still going like a clock

The actual Hydraulic ram or motor on the machine itself is the same , just the valves that control them that are different

Thank you, to be honest, it's more the odd Grey Gold you might see here thats TVO , really in the late 50's Diesel had taken over , the Mushroom farm's/Horse races would be running petrol only machines due to fumes/sound in all from then onwards

Not the fastest on a good field but definitely the most versatile

@OHanlonHaylage tbh it was on the list to do anyway, lathed the middle of a pair of good heavy cast iron Lely hay elevator rims (type with only 2 wheels) to fit the sledge 2 years ago as it lives outside in all, and only just had another one from a scrap Lely Hayzip after hay, so I was running on a bit of a rotten wheel

@colmanlong1032 5 , just a better/stronger job , I will say though its the bigger 4cyl tractors like the 1210/12 , 1410/12 that are more likely to snap the 3 bearing cranks, the smaller/lower Hp 990-996 are quite good tbf . They even had to reduce HP from the 1410/12 (91hp) to the later 1490 (83hp) / 1494 (85hp) , most likely due to that weakness.

@archie6106 its a KM20 , bit smaller , no weight but steering a bit light driving up hill , it went alright. Just did part of the field for some fun tbh

Tbh I'm not really a fan of Fiat but they really made a good tractor with that series , I do like it. Only thing the loader is a bit slow compared to a 10 series Ford with twin pumps
