BTAL Anti Beta Fund is NOT a replacement for Gold or Bonds

    Wouldn't it make sense for a company that makes a lot of profit providing a fairly stable produce or service (Mcdonalds, Wal-mart, Oil companies) to use a dividend? They don't have the growth upside anymore and probably would not be able to use the capital effectively besides share buybacks.

    • @VolatilityTrading-Clips
      @VolatilityTrading-Clips 17 часов назад

      No, it would still be more efficient to just keep the money inside the company and grow the equity. Every time there is a dividend, it's a taxable event for the dividend receiver. Now there are ways to defer of course, but still, AT BEST it's a wash, but probably getting dividends costs the investor money

  • @KUKIE13
    @KUKIE13 2 дня назад

    But in that example 1 day later its back to normal plus increased more 🤔

    • @VolatilityTrading-Clips
      @VolatilityTrading-Clips 17 часов назад

      No it doesn't. The only reason people think that is because dividends are so small you can't see them on a chart. Just go look at what happens when a larger special dividend is paid. If you see that, it's then obvious what has happened. The dividend is taken directly out of the stock price at the exchange level. All you are doing is trading equity for cash, but you don't gain anything.

  • @mamacoco9327
    @mamacoco9327 2 дня назад

    so, if the company that pays dividens stopped paying them my profit would be the same it just wouldnt be split into equity and dividend, it would be just in the higher equity?

    • @VolatilityTrading-Clips
      @VolatilityTrading-Clips 17 часов назад

      Yes, the book value / retained earnings of the company would just be growing by that same amount, so you'd just have more equity and no cash flow, rather than mostly equity with some cash flow. In the end it's the exact same "net zero" transaction. I would prefer to just not have the dividend and keep the equity growing, without the potential taxable event of a dividend being ripped out of the stock price on the exchange level.

  • @simonthur
    @simonthur 2 дня назад

    Dividend investing is all about getting annual cash flow without touching the underlining asset. If you are going to pay yourself "dividend" by selling stocks, eventually you'll run out of stocks to sell. Reinvesting the dividend is about building position in said stock for more dividends in the future when you wanna retire with a steady payout. It's a long term play

    • @VolatilityTrading-Clips
      @VolatilityTrading-Clips 17 часов назад

      I know that's how it's sold to people, but unfortunately it's just not true. The dividend is taken out of the stock price, AT THE EXCHANGE LEVEL. It's not something that happens because of investors buying and selling. It's literally taken out of the stock price. So the act of paying a dividend, literally lowers the stock price, at the exchange level, guaranteed. So a company that doesn't pay dividends just keeps it as 100% equity, and a company that does pay dividends removes the equity in the same amount as the dividend. The investor is no better off, and in fact, it's a potential taxable event, so you end up losing money when you are a dividend investor if you're being taxed on them. A company that doesn't pay the dividend, just grows the equity value (stock price) without removing that steady bleed of capital. If Nvidia started paying dividends, it would actually be worse for stock holders. Not paying dividends means 100% of equity is increasing. Then, if a person wanted, they could just sell a small fraction of their stock at the time of THEIR choosing and tax harvest. You're actually better off managing your stock holdings without dividends

    I have recently learned that there is NO WAY to view a single point in time on a historical chart without subconsciously taking into account everything to the right of that point. If you can see that there is an eventual recovery then it is easy to say, "they should have waited it out." The benefit of glimpsing into the future of any given point is impossible to ignore. I have taken to using a piece of paper to cover the screen and reveal it very slowly from left to right.

    Media! Hoawk-Tua! My feeling about media is this: The Wall Street Journal must, absolutely must, be truthful and unbiased about any and all political issues that might effect the economy. WSJ readers are so dependent on this information that one bit of falsehood from the Journal might lead to financial disaster for someone or some group or some brokerage or bank or even the whole economy. WSJ knows that it would be crucified if it engaged in any kind of spin. So here's my political message to y'all: If it's in the WSJ (and not in its op-ed section) then you can safely believe it. As far as I can tell, they have NEVER spun a report in any direction, other than for the needs, tastes and reading preferences of financial and economic news readers. They are seldom wrong, but being wrong about something, once in a great while, is not the same thing as spinning or exaggerating or outright lying, like most other papers do. I would have to give the WSJ a 99%+ accuracy rating and a spin factor of near 0%. That's as good as it gets and an order of magnitude better than any other. I am not, in any way, affiliated with the WSJ, but I have been reading their paper for 4 decades, even though I have not been any kind of investor for most of my life. It's just a reliable source.

    Profiting instead of waiting. "Wait and hope" is not sound or reasonable strategy, but I fully understand it. It was difficult for me to let go of my few oil royalty trust ETFs when the oil prices dropped suddenly a short time ago. My first and second instincts were to ride it out and wait for it to come back in a week or two. After two weeks I looked again and almost convinced myself to wait longer. It's oil, afterall. It's bound to bounce back. We're in an oil crises, right? The middle-east is still unstable, right? Even if Israel does what it says and leaves the Iranian oil machinery alone, it's still a powderkeg, right? But reason won out and I sold it all. I reinvested right away and have been profiting instead of waiting. I am not invested in any kind of index. I put all my eggs in one basket -- well, maybe two or three. I've been leveraging Nvidia Stock pretty heavily for the last few months, but I'm watching them closely. Pitfalls and minefields lurk around every corner, but I don't think the anti-trust issue is an issue any longer under the incoming administration -- unless Elon has a grudge against Nvidia that I don't know about. Probably not.

  • @sailor-rick
    @sailor-rick 20 дней назад

    I'm just getting started. I've taken to heart something Warren Buffet said several decades ago. Too much Diversification is a trap, he said. He said to invest in highly profitable leaders of the industries -- companies with great financials, great capital returns, and consistently high earnings. In other words, he said to wait for the unicorns to come along and invest heavily in them. I believe that. I don't want to have my money in an S&P index fund. I think there's more money to be made from the few leaders of the industries. I have only been an investor for a few months and I only own one thing... well, not own it, exactly, but I have been leveraging NVDA pretty heavily. I am looking to expand to a second unicorn, but in the mean time, I keep a close watch on Nvidia and all of its potential pitfalls. Keeping a weather eye on the Nvidia horizon -- that's my substitute for diversification. Warren Buffet suggested this and I don't see a flaw in his reasoning. The "don't put all your eggs in one basket" sentiment is ridiculous. Where would Elon Musk be if he believed that, or Bill Gates. Anyway, I'll watch the rest of this video and a couple of others, but for now you have one new sub and a thumbs up. I like seeing alternative ways of thinking about the market. Good stuff, so far.

    Any educated investor would have. I’m especially not worried about a recession because I’m young, single, no kids, debt free, make more than enough to pay all my bills and have 12 months of expenses saved for emergencies with the rest invested and being invested. In the future I may need more money but that’s why I’m saving and investing while I’m young.

      You don't get it, bro. The market is algo controlled and supplied with endless liquidity to ensure it remains levitated permanently. A bear market is impossible under these conditions. All the past things that ushered in bear markets? The market laughs at these things now and chugs ever higher. It can't even decline 2% before a torrent of buy programs come in and rescue the indices.

      @@ivantsanov3650 Not sure what you’re talking about. Certainly you get paid to support VTS. But what is the point of trading one for the other even if he can. He way under performs the market in up trends with the promise of beating it in a down twin. Just let your paying customers calculate his true CAGR. It certainly proves the images he portrays on his website graph as totally false. As they show a drastic linear upward trend, when it should be showing 8% returns. And to pay over $1000 a year to under perform what is the point . No he is a fraud. He blocks or removes all negative comments. Believe me I trust him until someone pointed out his poor performance. So I did the calculations. It is all a fraud. But I realize he is paying you. But just know what you’re endorsing.

    Question: Have you thought about the possibility of sending a second daily email after the market closes ? For those in the community who are willing to pay some more money for the opportunity to see the change of the barometer reading at the end of the day (short email, only barometer, no trades etc.). Let's say for the 'active traders' only. Thank you in advance.

    • @VolatilityTrading-Clips
      @VolatilityTrading-Clips Месяц назад

      Well I wouldn't ever ask for extra money, but getting the end of day readings won't be of any use given that we only take trades based on the levels from about 1 hour after the markets open. Now if you're saying you simply want a record of the Volatility metrics at the market close for consistency, everything I do release is marked at end of day. So all the data in the public spreadsheet is end of day, and if I ever do decide to put the Volatility Barometer levels in there (not sure if I will) they would also be end of day. All my internal records show both the official level, plus my spreadsheets are all updated at end of day for all values.
