Fixing my Ram's Exhaust tick!
Просмотров 131Год назад
My truck has been making a bad ticking sound lately, So I thought I would make a video of replacing the manifold gaskets and replacing the exhaust bolts. I ended up having 3 broken bolts on the driver's side manifold and 2 on the passenger's side, both on the rear cylinder. There is also some bonus footage at the end of me replacing my blown out strut with a new unit.

A short video review of driving a Subaru Sambar Kei truck.
the susuki jimni is not kei
My 1998 Subary Sambar truck arrives from Japan this coming Tuesday, I can’t wait. I have just subscribed so we can stay connected.
Can you do a video on installing a tachometer onto the newer sambar trucks? I only see tutorials for the old ones. Also I just found this out and find it hilarious the KN303 and HF303 oil filters that I use on my motorcycle has the exact same thread while covering the whole surface area on the subaru sambars KV1 to KV4 motors. Also motorcycle oil works better in the sambar than regular energy conserving car oil (10W50 from castrol or motul 10w40 **which kei truck garage uses and confirmed this** doesn’t get dark as quickly and runs cooler which makes sense since bikes rev from 12,000 to 16,000rpms avg ) Hopefully this helps anyone that reads this!
What octane fuel do you use?
These little trucks are awesome!
I recognize your city, I'm from Hope :-) We're working on getting a 2008 Sambar in from Japan; we've found a really rare one that has power windows, power lock and a supercharger -- that should take care of your negatives #1 and #3. Would you mind sharing where you brought it in for inspection? It looks like you don't have rear side markers, no 3rd brake light... so what did you do to make it street legal, just the front side markers and daytime running lights?
Comment réparé la puissance du moteur, qui perd chaque fois
Hello, Are you interested in testing our products? We would like to invite you to test the Rear Windshield for your CFmoto Uforce 1000XL( if your car year is 2022+
I put a windshield in ours and it was a great upgrade but am also getting a back window to keep the dust from sucking in through the back as we drive along, it gets bad on the dusty Alberta trails, I agree with you, it's been a great machine so far for us and our grandkids.
1. EN07Y pistons fit the EN07C & EN07F engines (lower compression for supercharger) VZ21 Turbo + jetski water to air intercooler + Dyno jet fuel controller (1000cc bike ones) 63 @ 10 psi proven by dyno video (23hp gain) 2. Welding shop for pedals 3. Arduino Uno + a rack and pinion motor + standard servo + 3d Printer + Solidworks hobby edition. 4. Oh Kei Garage makes headers for the EN07Y/C/F + earplugs I guess lol 5. Can't help you there...
I bought a 24 XL last month. After an RNG clutch kit, one-way bearing delete, 2" lift, 30" tires, 2" wheel spacers, windshield, rear window, front & rear bumpers, upgraded A-arms, and a tune, it'll be ok.
I’m from up the road an hr or so and wondering where you ordered your uforce from? I’m looking for one and pg Is about as close as I can find lol… these machines seem like good bang for your buck… plus our teryx is getting small for the fam
We bought it from Sea to Sky in Langley. They were great to deal with.
In the UK,and being driving Kei trucks/vans (Honda TN550 Acty) for almost forty years. Now driving Piaggio Porter diesel truck and Daihatsu Copen car.
For down hills, give the throttle a little tap. That will help engage some engine braking. I have experienced what you described in my '22 Uforce 1000 on a down hill descent and the throttle tap helped out quite a bit.
Lift kit 30s tires and RNG clutch kit … and you be much much more happier with it
Is that bear country ? Looks like it
It’s around 100 Mile House, British Columbia.
Nice to find another Canadian XL owner! Is everything stock at this point?.
Yes, for now. I want to add a perfex lift, wheel spacers, and a windshield in the near future.
@@OffbeatMechanicsDefinitely great first upgrades! I still need to do the lift.. I think I'll post an overview video soon of some mods I've done. Happy trail riding!
Can you drive it in 4x4 in high as well?
@@howdy4596 absolutely! Though I can't say I ever do since you don't want to be in a situation where you need 4x4 and in high, that's rough on the belt
I envy you Canucks, you get to import the newer model Kei trucks ...
စေဘဲလောက်လဲ
How much was this out the door?
It was around $27,000 Canadian after freight, PDI, and taxes.
Im planning on getting one myself, an acty 4wd, im calling an importer tomorrow and see what the process is like. If all goes well itll be on order before the sun sets tomorrow.
Hows the front seat? We drove a buddies 2022 and the seat was pretty straight up and down and not what I would call comfortable for long rides, especially on the highway. It looks like that one may be slanted back more though?
I find it is fairly upright, but still comfortable. I wish it had some sort of side bolstering though as it doesn’t hold you in place side to side. It’s definitely a different driving position than a sports machine like an RZR.
Seems like a really good economical option as a second car for a couple or family. Realistically, many people probably only need one car that can go for long stretches of highway, but are likely to need a second car so that that the other person isn’t stuck at home while the first one is out and about. Not that it would be perfect for everyone everywhere, but it seems like it’s got a lot to offer. I know that kind of truck bed could have saved me a lot of headache in the past, that’s for sure
I'm considering getting one for that reason. Single person I live alone with one vehicle. I've wanted a utiltiy vehicle for getting mulch and garden supplies. Moving the odd piece of furniture. I don't need to haul or tow anything, so big trucks and SUVs are overkill and way too expensive. Would be nice to have a secondary vehicle that could take me to work or grocery store if my daily driver is out of commission for some reason that also provides some utility. Also would be nice to have 4x4 on the rare snowy and icy days we get here. These trucks tick all of these boxes... so I'm really thinking of importing one. Thing I'm worried about is that they have to be 25 years old. I'm worried of importing a piece of junk maintenance nightmore. It's about $5K to get one imported. I don't want to end up putting another $5k - $10k into it then I could have easily bought a full size seconhand pickup.
Being a machanic can't you retro fit parts from other vehicles? To work with this vehicle?
I am sure with enough effort anything is possible. I personally like to cross reference the parts and see if they are available locally, and if not, order them in.
@@OffbeatMechanics I would have 2 filters (oil and fuel), 2 sets of brake pads/rotors and maybe even bearings on hand. Never a bad idea if you rely on your ktruck for heavy use. I hate waiting for parts. Maybe need some other parts like belts, use your imagination.
Thanks for the content. I got a 2023 UFORCE 1000 regular cab. I am very disappointed with it for one reason. The throttle response is ridiculous and makes the machine to jerky in trails. My wife nearly backs into everything when in reverse because it's all or nothing on the throttle. It's just to sensitive. She won't use it for yard work anymore. I love the chassis, suspension and the looks of it. Engine power is great, brakes suck but not a big deal. The throttle snap when barely cracked is a major turn off for this machine. I installed a MSC Stage 1 with a helix and it helped engage a little smoother but of course did nothing for the throttle.
I find it a tad touchy on trails, but I find in work mode is it a lot better. It would be nice if someone would make a pedal commander type unit for these.
I just bought my 23 Uforce XL about a week ago. I noticed that if I put it in work mode it take a lot of the jerkiness away.
@@OffbeatMechanics I just learned from RNG that the work/normal mode behavoir is opposite from the 2022 models. So I tried putting it in work mode and it's a lot better! still jerky but tolerable.
@@natureboy6611 I tried work mode today (originally thinking it would be worse) but to my suprise, it is in fact much better. I can actually reverse without feeling like I'm going to do a backwards wheelie! lol I'm coming from a Yamaha, so there's still a night and day difference. Work mode is where the machine will stay.
@@OffbeatMechanics "pedal commander type unit" I'd be the first to buy it!
Wheare is the windshield wiper water tank ?
Under the passenger’s seat.
One of the things I love about my 2000 Toyota Tacoma is all the manual stuff. Windows, door locks, and mirrors.
Mine didn’t come with blinkers built-in. Did you order it this way or is this how the majority of them are?
Mine came like this. I am in Canada, so I don’t know if it is specific to Canadian models.
The US models don't come standard that way. In fact, the only switch on that part of the dashboard is the Norm/Work switch. Looking at the CFMoto website, it doesn't look like directionals are even an optional accessory. The horn kit is. It is Item# 5ASV-800100-5000
Nice man been thinking of getting one my self we enjoy riding on roads
Did they bug you in BC about getting DOT headlights?
I had no issues. The shop that inspected it said that OEM was fine.
My friend just bought a 1999 sambar, and we live accross the river from you. We may try picking your brain sometime
Nice Review, thanks for Sharing!
I like the s660 and the beat most
Hello, awesome video. What does yellow and yellow/black go to?
The Yellow and Yellow/Black go to ground on this car. It depends on if your vehicle needs a ground signal or a positive voltage signal to lock or unlock.
@@OffbeatMechanics I see. Thank you!
cool
Neat lil' truck! Are those Miata daisies? 4x100 14s? That opens up a whole world of options!
Yes they are. The only problem with the miata wheels or most other 4x100’s is the center bore is too small for the Sambar, so I am running 1/4” spacers and they fit perfect.
it appears that you are in canada, what province? i'm just wondering about registering and insuring one of these in ontario.
I am in BC so I am not too sure of what it is like to import a vehicle into Ontario. It was fairly straightforward here, so hopefully it will be the same for you!
I'm surprised you're driving your Subaru on a Washington State freeway !
I’m actually in BC! I haven’t had a chance to drive it down south of our border yet though. I was thinking about making a harbor freight run in it.
@Offbeat Mechanics Well welcome to the club of Mini truck owners! Mines a 95 Honda SDX 4x4 5speed! Have tons of FUN 👍
This might be useful for the Ministry of Transportation work crew. However they will favour an Isuzu Elf or Isuzu Forward for their ease of maintenance if they were able to get one from Japan a 15 year old model some of them working alongside the ones made in the United States Charlotte Michigan which is then exported back into Canada tax-free thanks to the US Canada Mexico agreement.
These last a lot longer far away from salt country. People disparage the safety of these vehicles, but if a state is willing allow people to get on a motorbike, these are a quantum leap safer (I sense some automotive industry, protectionist hypocrisy). A 2005 Sambar comes with EFI, antilock brakes and a driver air bag, for whatever that is worth. A supercharged version puts out more like 55 hp. I can confirm a supercharged version on 14 inch tires will reach 80 mph, but don't recommend it in high wind conditions or while passing large trucks, pushing through their bow waves. It's unsettling. As far as handling goes, there is nothing wrong with the all wheel independent suspension going through the twisties at moderate speeds. It feels like a high centered sports car, very responsive. The 360 driver visibility is amazing when an extra wide center rear view mirror is added.
Keep the upgrades coming!
Great work!
Where are u located in Canada???
BC.

Thank you for sharing man . I appreciate it .
No problem. If you have any questions please feel free to ask.
Love Kei cars. Especially the trucks 😍
I own a 2005 Subaru Sambar Kei truck and have a couple videos on it.
This is a great video for anyone considering a kei truck. I concur with all of the pros and cons, and also the closing sentiment that the pros outweigh the cons and kei trucks are awesome. To be so tiny and fun, they are surprisingly practical. The bed on my Hijet is slightly larger than the Tacoma it replaced after the Tacoma frame rusted in half at 137,000 miles from a manufacturer's defect (that Toyota did nothing to remedy in my case). As mentioned, the bed sides easily fold down to make a flat bed, or three screws can be removed to remove all three bed sides. Not mentioned: Unlike larger pickup trucks in the western world, there are no large wheel wells protruding into the bed. I can carry drywall sheets flat on the bed without them cracking in the middle, and I have a lot more space in the bed. I was fairly sure I'd enjoy driving my kei truck because it's fun to drive, but I didn't realize that I'd also enjoy driving it because other people enjoy seeing me driving it. I was surprised to find that I was bringing a little bit of happiness into many people's lives by doing nothing but driving my fun little mini truck. There are no kei trucks in my town of 350,000 and I get a lot of smiles, waves and thumbs up. I occasionally get a crazy guy hanging out his window shouting, "I LOVE YOUR TRUCK!" I'm hoping that painting the entire truck, including inside the cab, with two coats of Monstaliner polyurethane bed liner will attenuate most of the tin can sound.
look at the documentaries about them their great cars but not for the bloody highway duh :3
I think instead of 2 coats of bedliner inside I would opt for sound deadening material. Also, that would eliminate the need for 2 coats on the outside of the cab. On the Hijet or Carry the sound deadening would reduce the heat from the engine, also. The Honda and Subaru have the engine in the rear so no heat into the cab from there.
@@usedcarsokinawa - People think there's a lot of heat or noise from the engine under the seats in the Hijet but that's not the case. The tin can noise I mentioned was just the single sheet of steel for the roof of the cab, and the doors without any sound deadening. I think polyurethane on both sides will very thoroughly deaden the tinny sound. It doesn't bother me, but it'll be deluxe when quieter.
@@senritsujumpsuit6021 kei cars were designed for in-village use, they were never meant for the highway.
what model and size wheels are those? I love their look!
They are 14 inch from a 1989-1997 Mazda MX-5 Miata. They are “daisy” wheels without the center caps. I love the fitment of these wheels on this truck.
There's also a Porshe- designed ez30 flat six Subaru.
That’s awesome. I love when manufacturers get together and make cool stuff.
@@OffbeatMechanics the problem is is that rarely happens and it's mostly directly related to cutting corners and no improvements whatsoever..... Subaru mechanic for 24 years believe me stay away from everything 6-cylinder that they make..... Unnecessarily problematic and the same issues do not arise in the four-cylinder versions..... The engine is actually obsolete from a design standpoint.... The horizontally opposed engine is too inefficient.
