1st time out in the GT4 at Bedford GT - blown away by how competent it is and how fast it is out the door running stock Cup2s. All assists off apart from auto blip. Is a 2:38 lap a production car record? If you exclude Ariel Atoms, maybe - but only because the really fast stuff like 911RS' are too loud for Bedford :p Think the car should be able to do a 2:37 in the summer, maybe a 2:36. On a AR...

Old Timer GP Trackday on 11.08.23. Optimal 7:47btg 2nd trackday here and finally done more than 40laps here. Still plenty of time left to find - especially at Flugplatz, SX & Pflanzgarten 220bhp K20 Elise with Exige body. Nankang AR1s Quantum single way dampers

Bedford GT Circuit on 25/2/23, around 6c on very old Nankang AR1s. Interesting day, managed to take almost a second off the previous PB on a failed left rear damper. Hadn't driven the car for 3months so didn't immediately realise a big difference, but watching the video back can definitely see it bouncier than normal and a bit more exit understeer.

My 1st ever Nurburgring trackday was incredible. Previous to this I've done around 20 TF laps, my last lap being 2 years ago in 2020. Unfortunately there were yellow flag zones on every single lap I did so ended up splicing together a few videos to get a 'virtual' BTG of 7.56. Another lap after my cam ran out of batteries was around 4 seconds faster and I can see lots of time left on the table ...

Skip straight to 4:00 if you just want to see the chasing Fastest lap of 2:25.7 - Optimal was 2:24.9 - I reckon being really brave through Copse and Stowe new tyres could see a high 2:23 -only around 3 seconds slower than the Exige V6 Cup R racecars in the Lotus Cup running near double the power, full aero and sequential gearboxes and weight reductio. New PB near 2 seconds faster than previous best. Big wing helping the rear stay planted. Set on AR1s, approx 230bhp Honda Conversion. 26/02/22

First drive with the new big wing, and pretty much matched my PB time at Bedford from the summer on new tyres despite it being freezing cold with very worn Nankang AR1s.
Almost binning it at Copse and a new PB of 2:26.9 at Silverstone GP.

Lotus On Track Evening 24/08/21 Took 0.5 sec off my previous PB which is reasonable, could I carry more speed through Paddock Hill? Maybe, but I did give it a go to the point where the back was loose but ended being slower than keeping it smooth. Clearways always feels like it could be faster but car is understeer limited though there, tricky corner. Tyres: Well used AR1s that have done 80 Laps...

Great vid!!! I think you’ll be quicker with different tyres, difficult to say for sure as I haven’t tested scientifically but at brands, I was about half a second quicker on ar-1 than bmw cup 2. This was on the same day, but only got a few laps on the cup 2 then swapped to at-1 after lunch. Either way, 2.38 on cup 2 is excellent 👏👏👏
I have a reasonable suspicion that the Porsche Spec cup2s are softer than the general release ones? Treadware of 180 which is lower than regular Cup2s? Would love to get AR1s but think it's a faff with finding wheels that fit both the tyre and the car etc.
@@HondaExige1absolutely right about the cup 2 manufacturers spec being different to generic. I’ve run the M2 sizes on mine in 245/265 and they’re brilliant. BMW are star marked, think the Porsche ones are NO marked. The generic ones are really slow in comparison. If you do try some different tyres let us know, interested to see th difference 👍

Yup! They were on the car when I bought it and I've done 20k miles and 25-30 trackdays so they've had a good innings! Will send them off to Quantum to be refurbed

This Lotus is one of the best i've seen in you tube. Been watching K swap Lotuses lately and ii im impressed. Im still on 2zz turbo/quaife but the NA sound is just addicting to my ears. I drive an MX5, and I also hate these guys who slow me down in the corners and then pull away on the straights. Always ruins my lap times at track days.

Yeah a K20A, I have a baffled sump and no issues so far. Although I would like to install an Accusump to give further protection to oil pressures.

😂 Conditions were ideal! A 2:40.X was on the cards but didn't get a fully clear lap. Some great cars a about, 6 Ariel Atom 4s, 911 RS, Merc GTR, and a McLaren too, epic day.

pop a supercharger on it, defenetly NOT a turbo as it would only produce big number on a dyno but be terrible on a track. then work on lowering the weight even more by replacing as much as possible with carbon parts. it's possible to get the car to about 360hp for 720kg, that's bugatti veyron power to weight ratio territory, exept only 1/3 of the weight. this thing will murder any supercars in existance with extreme prejudice and for a fraction of the cost, and not to mention stellar reliability.
Can you drive this daily or is it too dangerous in the wet? I’m thinking about doing something similar
The tyres are too extreme for wet on the road really, any puddles and they aquaplane. My car is pretty extreme so would be a horrible daily, but a less extreme Elise with K20 is probably dailyable.

Aero limited! Like a barn door above 130mph... Always thinking about boost haha but probably veering more towards an NA build hopefully!
@@HondaExige1 NA is a limit for sure at 300hp, it all really depends on how much bang for the buck do you want. On a different note... call me crazy but why the hell not try to put a CRV trans and attach a fan then seal the skirts. I know its crazy to do but just the thought of it is exciting!!
@@FirstLast-tx3yj not even close. There are plenty of all motor k series civics in the drag world that are over 400hp. I believe the highest I've seen is 600hp all motor.
