I looked in my book and the blueprint specs for crank endplay on an LS engine should be between .004 to .008.(four to eight thousandths of an inch) Most guys like to be at the bottom of that spec during assembly because as soon as the engine starts there will be some "break in" wear that happens on the thrust bearing surface area of the main bearing anyway. If you have .002 or .003 during assembly you can count on .004 to .006 after the initial run in. You should be in great shape! I think it's better to build at the lower end of the spec too. That way you don't have to worry about it wearing out of spec during the break in period. Imagine if you started out with .008 on the endplay during assembly. As soon as it starts for the initial run and break in, it would go outside of the .008 clearance almost immediately. You're doing great! Keep up the good work!

Smart move to install the cam and timing components prior to the pistons and rods going in. That way you'll be able to check the clearance between the rod bolts and the cam lobes!

You won’t hurt anything. Ruin coating ? Who said that? lol Maybe you could bend the ring but I don’t see that happening unless you’re a brute. Is doesn’t matter such way you go. I use a dremel and a grinding attachment. I can do just as perfect a job without a ring file tool. My engines have nothing in the catch cans. Cleaning the cylinder walls with trans fluid until you get zero grit will do way more for you than worrying about this. Leaving too much grit even after jet wash will screw up your sealing far worse.

The second ring is not going to be a big issue as long as you've got the gap you need you're good to go. (it doesn't have to be pretty or perfect on the 2nd ring) Your ring gap grinding tool is designed to work by grinding from the outside of the ring (sealing surface) towards the inside of the ring (the part that sits back in the ring land of the piston). You had the direction of rotation correct when you ground this last ring. There is a small issue you need to correct before grinding the top ring gaps though. Instead of grinding one side of the ring at a time, you're supposed to hold pressure on the ring against the two pins and close the ring gap so both sides touch the grinding wheel. I know, this seems like a job for three hands, but you can do it. By holding pressure on the ring against those pins and closing that ring gap to just touch the grinding wheel, you will insure the ring gap will be ground square. (Both sides of the ring will be perfectly flat and true) If you grind one side, then the other, the ring gap will not be square "II", it may look like this "//" or "\l". Again, don't worry about the second rings, they'll be fine, just concentrate on getting the top ring gaps perfect and square. The top ring is where performance is gained or lost. It's a pain and it's frustrating but you can do this. Practice makes perfect.

The ScatPack should win no problem only if Vette was modified could it win .if downshifting the Scat properly it should do better much better ive beat c7s in 1/8 easily

My c6 when it was stock with the ls2 beat an ls3 vette it depends on your skills

Depends on the driver since the 8speed autos are faster you must shift ur ls2 with the paddles or manual but always be a gear ahead for instance start from 2nd from a stand still in a roll race find ur vette sweet spot but I'm also cammed out and have headers with a borla exhaust on my ls2 convertible and I'm killing everything that comes my way
