Painting the Purple Sun of Shyish for Warhammer Age of Sigmar like the Art with 4 Paints
I'm starting into my Endless Spell collection by painting the Purple Sun of Shyish like the artwork with minimal paints, four in this case! I always found the 'standard' schemes to be a bit dark and not evocative of a 'sun' at all, but more of a floating skull. Let's see if we can fix that!
I also wanted to make sure it could fit in with all sorts of different armies, so I went with a base that seems like the sun is washing out all other color on it except the 'amethyst glow', which it probably would that close! This makes it much more of an 'effect' on the battlefield, rather than a part of its owner's army.

Painting Warhammer Minis Using Historical Japanese Paintings
Просмотров 625Год назад
It can be tough to find a theme for your miniature painting. Looking at historical can help with the inspiration needed! The Ogroid Thaumaturge from Age of Sigmar is one of the more eye-catching and unique pieces in the range, and when I saw it, I immediately thought of the depictions of oni from historical Japanese woodblock paintings. Using the woodblock colors as a rough guide, I walk you th...
3 Tips for Painting Hero and Champion Miniatures for Warhammer | Age of Sigmar | Galletian Champions
Просмотров 288Год назад
Small heroes are a mainstay of miniature armies, so here are 3 tips to make yours stand out. Whether they're a unit leader, a lieutenant, or even a valiant Galletian Champion, these miniatures tend to warrant a bit more effort than a standard infantry piece, while not being quite so much of a project as a centerpiece monster or vehicle model.
Let's Paint Horus Heresy - Episode 02 - Battle Ready | Warhammer | Horus Heresy

We get the Thousand Sons Horus Heresy patrol completely painted today, and even manage to sneak in a couple games! It's nice to be able to get in some gameplay with painted minis, finally. New year, new army, etc. We'll keep painting all the way up to the 3 or 4 thousand point...
How to Paint: Tzaangors for Warhammer Age of Sigmar and 40,000

Today I'm showing you how I'll be painting my Tzaangors. These can be used not only in Age of Sigmar, but also in Warhammer 40k, and in Sigmar they can go in Beasts of Chaos as well as Disciples of Tzeentch! With all of the warp entities in my army being brighter colors I figured it would be a good opportunity to try and take as much color out of the 'mortal' units as I could. This particular s...

Today we look at painting one of the new Slaves to Darkness miniatures for Warhammer Age of Sigmar! With all the grim and menacing armor of these warriors of Chaos (or in this case a Chosen), I figured it'd be a good time to take some inspiration from the equally-intimidating black knights found in the game Dark Souls by From Software. It's a desaturated, sooty and worn armor look that can be d...

    I'm relatively new to airbrushing and am looking to do something similar with Nighthaunt models. Do you add anything to add transparency to the flourecent green when you apply it? Also, what PSI and distance do you hold the airbrush from the model when applying the glowing bit? When I have been trying it's covering too much of the undershading!

    • @ArtoriusCarter
      @ArtoriusCarter 6 месяцев назад

      Fluo paints in general tend to be a bit transparent, especially ones formulated for airbrush. You can add some airbrush medium to adjust it if you like. As far as PSI and distance, it'll depend on your airbrush, your painting technique, and even your location! I recommend practicing with a few combinations on something like a piece of paper and then taking note of your settings. If you have to do a couple passes to get a color you're happy with, that's totally okay! Best to start 'too light/thin', and build up, than just going full-throttle.

    Hey man any chance you could help me with this? When I apply the dark brown, do I wait for it to dry? Also when I use the enamel wash it takes off the black templar too

    • @ArtoriusCarter
      @ArtoriusCarter 9 месяцев назад

      You want to wait for the dark brown to dry until no longer shiny. The friction of the removal process will remove a bit of the black templar, yes, and easier where it is thinnest. This is useful for creating 'edge highlights' but over the surfaces you want to go a little lighter touch. More like gentle polishing than scrubbing. Make sure the contrast paint is nicely set and dry as well before applying the enamel and you should be okay. It'll be anything from a slightly-mottled finish to a random gradient when you're done.

      I did not mix with a green, but since the skeleton horde paint includes a little yellow, sometimes if your zenithal prime is particularly sharp, the white-black shading beneath can make the illusion of a little green at the darker spots. If your white section is very prominent it will appear brighter and you will get less of the green look.
