A L I E N: Ripley, Parker, and Lambert conversation scene
The girl who played Lambert is AMAZING in this movie. She has always been a very memorable character to me because she has the best, most realisitc reactions and expressions ive seen in a horror movie to this day. When she encounters the alien fave to face, she looks as if there is actually a living xenomorph with her on set recording the scene. Brilliant acting in the movie from her and Weaver especially.
The first Alien is the best ... I like the sequel to but the first is the best .... Because of the small cast , a few people in space with terror
Fun Fact: This is genuine. 0:58 Ridley Scott encouraged kotto to be obnoxious towards her in his improv so the conflict will be more believable. So her shouting at him is weaver actually telling him to shut up.
Ripley is such a Boss lady here..
One of the most authenticly human movie scenes ever filmed. Every actor is killing it here.
Such a realistic conversation. The new movies dont have this kind of plausibility.
Parker wanted blood for blood from here on out. RIP Yaphet Kotto.
The sheer space and timing of the delivery of every line is perfection in this scene. It feels completely genuine. The acting from all four here is just brilliant.
The acting in this scene is superb. Veronica Cartwright is what really makes this scene. No question Sigourney is brilliant, but I always though Cartwright is the key to this scene.
WHAT'S THE MATTER WITH YOU PEOPLE... LISTEN TO VERONICA CARTWRIGHT!
“YOU LISTENING TO ME PARKER?! SHUT UP!!!”
"will you listen to me parker?" that's what she said.
Now that is good acting. What a great cast!
That's when acting was great as there's no aid by CGI or dramatic music or other crap we have today.
Ridley Scott having the characters interrupt each other and cut each other off in sentences is a really awesome touch of authentic acting. It drives home the feeling of fear and paranoia that any person would feel in that situation. Absolute classic.
PARKER carry this movie on his back, Yaphet Kotto! what a ACTOR
Ya know it just occurred to me the shuttle won’t take four what happens if there’s a major malfunction and everyone is on the ship?
Such a great scene. Felt like the entire cast was at its breaking point.
Sigourney weaver was really worked up drying this evening because Ridley Scott told Yaphet Kotto to wind her up behind and on screen so that "shut up" came from the heart 😭✋
2:00 The reaction to Ash's comment is perfect in terms of acting - it's so natural and the timing is perfect. They really don't make movies like this anymore.
1:28 What was that?
1:41 [Ripley] "Ash, go with him.", [Parker] "No ... don't follow me [???]" What Parker said? What was his problem with Ash?
Yaphet Kotto and Veronica Cartwright turned in heavyweight performances in this movie.
So let's see here... Lambert is plain scared Parker is just angry Ash is quiet Ripley is sane and calm No wonder Ripley was the only survivor
This was why Alien was my favourite horror film and Alien film. The tension and dialogue amongst the crew is what makes the film so amazing, not the scenes where we see the Alien.
Will you LISTEN TO ME PARKER!! SHADDUP!!!
Everybody in this movie is excellent. This movie feels like you're watching a real event. The fear is palpable and nauseating. This film is incredible. One of a kind, really.
I think kotto (parker) improvised a lot here just to make sigourney weaver more and more angry (even more!): *He slams the weapon -> sigourney weaver and ian olm reactions are very natural, just like if that wasn't scripted. *He says "...nobody says nothing..." -> Like saying to sigourney weaver: "what are you waiting for?! come on! say your fxxxing lines" *He says "i'm going to kill it" and walks to the door -> sigourney weaver looks surprised like if he should stay in his place (next to lambert) instead of moving. This action could have been taken like "i'm walking there and you talk to me there". These 3 action could hit sigourney weaver like "this motxxx fxxxxr wants to steal camera while he spits in my face" or something like that. So, when he interrupts her she blows up and tell him (for real) "WILL YOU LISTEN TO ME PARKER (KOTTO) SHUT (THE FXXX) UP!
James Cameron needs to use the millions of bucks he made with avatar and film the Sarah Connor vs. Ripley showdown WE DESERVE !!!
Rest In Peace Harry Dean Stanton as Brett and John Hurt as Kane and Ian Holm as Ash and Yaphet Kotto as Parker and Helen Horton as the voice of mother and Bolaji Badejo as The Alien they will be forever rememberd as the greatest actors in Alien (1979) one of the greatest sci-fi horror movies ever created and directed by Ridley Scott as well amen:).
.... the acting 🤯
If they had listen to Ripley and follow protocol, they wouldn't be in that freaking mess. Regardless of ashes mission.
It didn’t matter because Ash let them in. He knew what the face hugger was & how extraordinary the Alien was.
@@dawnlee866 they still should have put "Kane" in isolation,Im not sure but didn't *Ripley" suggest that after "Ash* let them in?
@@DwayneETowns yes & Parker suggested it as well
Epic game!
Ripley is the GOAT.
This is my favourite scene in the whole film, closely followed by Ripley discovering Special Order 937. The writing, the acting. It’s all so real. I never found Lambert annoying, it’s quite rational to behave/feel how she did in a situation like that. I don’t get why horror film makers find it so difficult to replicate this kind of storytelling, but they have to go all in with CGI and crappy jump scares.
Lambert really smacked Ripley! Damn!
Yes, in the uncut version.
"We found this thing there...No blood no Dallas----nothing. He looked at Lambert and slammed his left hand on the table. The calm fear in Ripley eyes, and Lambert crying face is amazing acting. That cine WAS more real than acting wow-Priceless acting!
We'll move in pairs, we'll go step by step and lock off every Bulkhead and every vent Until we have it cornered and then we'll blow it the fuck out into space! Ripley was definitely on point 👍🏽😏
What I appreciate about Ripley is her tone. Lambert, on the verge of cracking, needs a calm but firm voice to remind her that her idea (at the moment) is not feasible. Parker is angry, and is on the verge of being reckless. So she yells at him to listen, while also making a plan to kill the alien. Ripley knows how to read the room, which makes sense since she is a Warrant Officer.
Then there's Ash... Who's just plain quiet and silent, like he enjoys what he's seeing.
@@sbarrow06 no feelings, no delight, just instructions and programming... he is AI. We are in big trouble in real life.
I seriously can't get enough of Veronica Cartwright's acting in this movie! Such fear, terror, despair and hopelessness, all powerful emotions masterfully portrayed by her. And don't get me started about her screams in Lambert's final moments... From the terrifiying and desperate look in her eyes to the absolutely horrific and nightmarish sounds of her voice yelling in pain and agony!
I like the leadership of Ripley at 1:01 and Ripley was born....
How malevolent is Ash? "The shuttle only holds 4" Ash fails to mention that he doesn't need water or air or food...
The shuttle WON'T take 4, Ripley states.
They really don't make movies like this anymore.
Excelente escena y actuaciones superiores. Especialmente, Sigourney Weaver, la mejor por siempre!!!
I thank jennifer lawrence pavin' the way for segouney.
Absolute masterpiece of a film. Dialogue, acting, editing are all extraordinary in this scene.
Reminds me of my mom when she told me to stop taking 😂
we have to stick together! (everyone goes off on their own)
Now this scene clearly demonstrates the EFFECTIVE use of an F-bomb as opposed to having every other word be F this and that. Love the restraint scripts from this era had.
Very good acting from amazing actors
Naomi Watts would be a perfect choice to play Lambert in an Alien remake back in day because she is a blonde-haired and blue-eyed english actress as the original Lambert Veronica Cartwright.
